PLEASE GOD NO
>Go into business without knowing what they would do when Hulk Hogan runs wild on them
They were doomed to fail from the beginning.
I feel really bad for the people working on that brand. Even the ones responsible for all the bad decisions that ended on the chapter 11 have families to feed.
On the other hand, it was just a matter of time before their disregard for ethics had consequences. I hope everyone involved becomes wiser.
>Whenever you trade the integrity of the information you give in favor of your political agenda, whenever you tweak the opinion of a work of art or product just because said work (or its creator) doesn't tally to what you stand for, you jeopardize not only the integrity of your outlet (and yourself in the meantime) but also of the whole journalistic community.
Not bad at all.
...
>Gawker
I'd buy that for a dollar
The problem is some people just don't become wiser. They're not wiser, they just pretend to be sorry for what they done in hopes that would gain a bit of sympathy for them and they'll constantly look for ways to turn the tide in the meantime, or at least subvert others. Inside, the only thing they're really sorry for is getting caught.
>Let's give them $100,000,000
Do they think we are retarded?
Trust me, as a journalist, you represent a lot more than just yourself when you write stuff like this. If you can't handle the heat of knowing your mistakes will indefinitely affect those you work with, it isn't the profession for you. It's a job with very little room for error, and when it comes to the law, that scope only becomes more narrow. Hopefully everyone's learned their lesson: when a court mandates something, fucking listen, especially on cases of privacy.
Did something happen to Gawker? Did the hulk bankrupt them or something?
yes. and hulk's case received $10 million in funding from a guy who was outed as gay by gawker a few years ago. dude got the sweetest revenge imaginable
Didn't ign already buy it
They're bidding on it, and last I checked, the people who own IGN were the only ones doing so.
Ziff Davis (IGN owners) are the highest bidder.
I wonder if Davis is going to keep Kotaku alive or just liquidate it so all its users flock to IGN.
Wasn't that guy outed in 2007?
If that's the case, then that guy has been waiting for a chance for almost a decade.
I wish Hulk would just buy it
>This is my goal. I want sites like Deadspin, Kotaku or Gizmodo to be for everyone. As some of might be aware, Ziff Davis wants to buy the site for an undisclosed amount under 100 million dollars, so that sets our goal, which means we must raise it as soon as we can to outbid their offer. The money will be used to bid for the online media company and, if we are able to acquire it, whatever else is raised will be used to invest on it. If we don’t make it, I’ll donate the money to a non-profit NGO for the preservation of cultural patrimony.
>100M
well it worked for chris roberts
who are you quoting?
The actual gofundme page.
Na fuck them, i have no sympathy. Anyone who worked there knew what they were getting into while it was going on, they had plenty of time to leave, The rest of them thought they were invinceble while breaking a court order and acting like faggots, Like a Teen trying to act like a badass and gets his ass kicked.
To think, one tweet cost Gawker 140 million dollars.
What a magical world we live in.
If I ever meet Hulk Hogan, He's getting a high five.
Not related to video games.
Reported.
Neither is your mom but that hasn't stopped me from playing her
Journalists are some of the most dishonest, evil liars on the face of the Earth. The appropriate punishment would be a helicopter ride, but I'll settle for this for now.
