Has a "dead genre" been reborn after years and years of Halo of Duty and 30fps console focused "cinematic" experiences with Wolfenstein New Order/Old Blood and DOOM and the like? What about Croteam and Flying Wild Hog who kept the torch lit before them?

Just finished Shadow Warrior 2013 on insane and have been getting into DOOM. What great games, though I wish SW was a bit less bullet sponge-y. Looking forward to the sequel though. How's Hard Reset: Redux beyond graphics supposedly no looking as good in static screenshots as they did in the original?
Been playing Stalker:SoC lately, but Im getting bored of it really quick because mutants are few and far between so far. Just got to Agripom and it's nothing but soldiers.
Wish this comic would have been the basis of the 2005 movie...

Halo had good single player, fuck you. It's different from the classics, yeah, but good in its own way.

Didn't say Halo was a bad game. However, by virtue on being on a console and being backed by Microsoft there, it all but killed a vibrant PC scene of Single Player/Multiplayer arena shooters in favor of 30fps "cinematic experiences" modeled to console limitations.
