Now gtfo.

Well, the voice acting WAS bad, I give you that.

Some people think they're scary.
Some people don't think they're scary.

Next.

They are. Bonus points for playing them when you were a teenager back in 2002. Bonus points for appreciating that it's not cheap scares and everything has a meaning

>hey I'll just jump down these random holes for no reason

OH LOOK I AM OP ONLY JUMPSCARES AKA THE LAZIEST BULLSHIT CAN STARTLE ME

____ ____ ____ ________ __ ___ ?

People's opinion's aren't objective;y based truths.

Your post is weak or bad bait.

Expectations and attitude influence reaction.

Oh yeah, then i dare you to go spend a night in oldman Chesters house. Are you fucking twelve?

I didn't find the second one scary or "genius" at all as people call it.

Can't say I didn't like it though.

I fucking love the OST though, I listened to it probably hundreds of times by now, and I always have it on my phone with me.

I kinda liked the concept of SH4 the most of all those games, it was actually intriguing instead of the good ol' YO THERES LIKE MONSTERS AND SHIT IN THIS ABANDONED RUSTY ENVIRONMENT approach.

silent hill 4 is a diamond, unpolished one but still.

>That fucking apartment turning into something more and more creepier everytime you come back

I'm lazy, and I didn't thought people would give enough fuck to clic on all those jewtube link.

Fair enough I guess.
But then again, either one of us could've also just linked the playlist of all the videos instead, so I suppose we're both a bit to blame in a sense.

>Silent Hill games aren't scary on the second playthrough
Fixed.

I loved the SH series, but I'll miss being able to play them for the first time, not knowing what sound was ambiance, and what sound meant something wanted to eat my face.

Agreed, it's by far my favourite of the 4 despite probably being the worst. Having a normal safe apartment and a fucked up terrifying dreamworld, and then having the two gradually combine, it's genius. Having to put candles everywhere and tiptoe around ghosts just to get to your fridge is genuinely terrifying. In the previous games, you stop being scared when you realize you can just blast everything away with a shotgun.

Also dat fucking soundtrack

I disagree quite a bit.

SH2 is THE least spooky game of the original trilogy. Easiest of them as well. Still a great experience, but SH1 and 3 are way more disturbing and terrorizing.

Anyway, SH thread? Let's repost the SH PC Guide + the DL links:

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" fix works as a no-cd crack as well, and is included in the pack.

In case you experience issues saving the game / not being able to edit the disp.ini, make sure the files aren't set to "Read Only", and run the game as Administrator.
If SH2 gets stuck in a black screen upon launch, close it and re-start it again.

>I disagree quite a bit.
I've still jumped at monster pop-ups, and the atmosphere's as solid as ever.

But areas like the huge pitch-black empty room in SH2 don't have the same impact when you realize that it's completely empty and the horrific slithering sound you hear won't rise up from the floor and dismember you.

And SH3 nearly made me lose it when I still thought that Stanley Coleman was actually waiting to grab me from around a corner.

I can't for the life of me get Silent Hill 3's PC version to work with my Xbone controller. Whenever the game boots up, the menu will just start fast scrolling as if the down button is being constantly held down no matter what I do.

>literally came to Silent Hill to meet his wife
>the final encounter of the game is your wife

Yeah you are right, that TOTALLY doesn't make any sense.

Played this shit with company in the middle of the afternoon, started off with the lights off and front door shut, shit got to real and had to open door and let in some of them golden rays. Shit was still spooky.

OP is deceiver.

>7 years old
>playing SH1 and RE1
had a hard time sleeping as a kid

I've never been able to get SH3 from this, but I love that this is still shared. Thanks!

>I can't for the life of me get Silent Hill 3's PC version to work with my Xbone controller.
That's because these games were made long before Xinput was a thing. Use a DirectInput controller, or just KB+M.

X360 pad works decently, but you gotta re-map all the keys manually for best results. Also at least SH2 does not recognize the triggers.

>I've never been able to get SH3 from this
What do you mean? Many people seem to have gotten it working just fine.
>thanks!
np!

SH1's sewers and run to the school still get to me each time.

Yes they are

I thought they were scary at second and maybe even third

and there are still a lot of sounds that still get me in Silent Hill 3 all the time.

Then there is 4 that just has random hauntings and I have still not seen them all. I have not even finished that game on hard yet

They are scary but not in the sense of low level "spooky" garbage as in jumpscares lol.

Silent Hill is all about the atmosphere, tension slowly builds up until it becomes unbearable. The world becomes more hostile, unnerving, strange, disturbing as you progress through the level.

Silent Hill is the best type of scary.

Why are there people that are trying so hard to shit up Silent Hill threads these days?

Silent Hill threads are still one of the very few good things about Sup Forums. I don't understand why anyone would want to shit on that.

>I don't understand why anyone would want to shit on that.

SH1 and 2 can be really fucking spooky at times, 3 not so much, though I love all three equally

Those things are still a bit unnerving though, but yeah sure.

Scariest part in SH2 for me is after the hospital, when you run around in the town when it is pitch-black and there are enemies everywhere. It's scary because it kinda feels random in it's nature, like something procedurally generated even though it's not, but you can't memorize every fucking roof a mannequinn is going to drop down from.

>otherworld sewers
>running like hell to get it over with
>that loud explosion you hear in that final hallway
>that decomposing corpse pit you nearly run into

I don't know what the enemies are called, but they make an unnerving sound too when they walk (picture not related, thinking of the lizard/insect-hybrids)

>I thought they were scary at second and maybe even third
I got over 30 runs in SH1 and 2, and they can still unnerve me today.

>3 not so much, though I love all three equally
I find this hard to understand. I find SH3 one of the most oppressing type of disturbing.

Hanged Scratchers.
the entire sewer sections are made worse (better?) by the fact that your radio doesn't work underground.

No shit it's not scary odds are you're a grown ass man playing a game we all got scared by when we were like 12.
You missed out on the fun you old bitter bastard

>SH3 one of the most oppressing type of disturbing.
I think SH3 was both a high point and a low point for me.

Exploring the hospital was one of the scariest areas in the whole series for me. But I think the loud aggressive tone of some areas lost a little something when compared to SH2's more subtle and lonely atmosphere.

People that are unable to feel afraid when watching a film, reading or playing a game lack empathy and are slightly retarded, Look it up.
