I'm not sure why Gambits are hated so much, in ffxiii I was screaming at Hope to put a Protect/Shell on me instead of En- and Bravery

People said Gambits were akin to not even playing game, when in actuality, they were mostly implemented to remove the repetitiveness X-mashing used to get through most Random Encounters in FF games.

For some reason, people prefer the monotony of "solving" the same puzzle ad nauseam. Personally, once I figure out that A-enemy goes down to B-spell, I'd much rather set a gambit to deal with it for the remainder of the area and scroll through the same menus every time it pops up.

Just think of how much time is saved in XII by avoiding screen transitions, rewards screens, the pressing X for attack and X for target select.

Get a read for the enemies in a certain area and set your Gambits up appropriately. You're usually fine with a main attacker, a mage that targets elemental weaknesses, and a healer/buffer. Until much later in the game, most common enemies can be dealt with in this fashion. Of course, boss almost always require continuous manual input.

Honestly that was pretty sweet. Took me a while to figure out what made them attack me until I switched the auto protect and shell off in my gambit.

I think the game could be beat with any job combination (unless you're retarded and made them all Time Mages or something). However, there are definitely better combinations than others, and some of the endgame stuff might be impossible if you didn't pick accordingly.

I do agree that there should be some option to either change your job or choose more than one. Giving everyone a second choice (maybe unlocked later in the story) would allow all 12 classes to be used in a single playthrough.

You can still definitely beat end-game following a different setup. The ones he listed are just the most efficient, stat-wise. Balthier's stats are pretty crummy, but he gets good MP, so White Mage isn't a bad fit plus other it frees up other characters to make better use of their higher stats.

I've seen people using him at Knight also. What's funny is that he's actually the worst character to use as a Gunner (Machiner).

I played an english patched IZJS iso and the balance is a huge fucking mess.

Combat can be more passive and boring and long than 13's autoplay shit.

It's the laziest lookint remaster I've seen in years, even more than FFX.
