It shows that these morons have no idea what they're talking about when they "want video games to be art." Does music need to tell a compelling story to be considered art, does pottery, does paintings? They can convey messages but at the end of the day they're admired for how the creator utilizes techniques to create something unique. Video games should be treated as art based on things such as level design and mechanics, not trying to imitate mediums that had at least a 100 year head start.

Look at the beggining of Serious Sam first encounter. It's a hidden tutorial teaching you how to move and "dance" with the enemies and weapons. It's subtle but well crafted.
