You gotta buy that one Ronso near the stadium and the news lady. They will get you to a fantastic start and win you all the matches.
Lead the game by one goal. On your next possession, hide behind your own goalie in the net for the rest of the game.

Am i about to replay this entire game just so i can win at Blitzball.....Its been enough years that it might feel kinda fresh....i can't even remember 75% of the story other than the major plot points.
No. I beat the fucking Goers 4-0. Now everyone seems to have leveled up and my guys are still complete garbage. Don't even want to play league matches because I can't even win an exhibition against the fucking psyches. It's not a matter of knowing how to play. My guys are just fucking trash. Literally 2 blockers and they fail at ANYTHING. If they can even manage to break through one the other one just has like a 12 block and they have 8 passing or shooting.
Replace your team straight away. They're garbage.
Then start recruiting the recommended NPCs that everyone uses to blow up the game with

Luca has really good early and mid game players that you don't necessarily have to replace until some of the later temples.
If you're already far past luca + mihen highroad agency then just keep playing until you get airship then you can go back
(Be careful of player locations and the possibility of dark aeons - besiad = usually dangerous after airship acquired)

But yeah I absolutely agree with this guy.
Nimrook is a god send, Jumal is honestly really good up until then with all his skills and gains, but Nimrook completely outshines.
Absolutely lucked out and noticed Nimrook got released when I was in calm lands so I just waited until airship then picked him up.
Larbeight gets really good later on. He gets that dodge ability and he's like the best forward in the game
I regret the continued existence of life on this planet every day that Blitzball isn't a yearly iterative game title with update rosters and all the cool game modes that Madden, NCAA, and FIFA get every year.

Score a single point, then go hide behind your goalie. Players will return to where they started and just swim around in circles.
Fuck all that. You can win all games with the vanilla Aurochs with little difficulty.
Just use the AI bug and get sleep shot on Tidus and/or Wakka for when you have to face the Psyches goalie.
Jecht Shot and Aurochs Spirit all of the day.
The Psyches are legit like the best team in the game.

You can win with any team IF you're good, getting better players is only needed if you're shit at passing the ball.
Your midfielder gets the ball, first thing you do is pass backwards to a free defender so you've got room to move, then you'll be able to get someone to the goal, pass to them and have them endure only one attack and then score.
Tidus and his jechtshot is a crutch you only use for the first game, get some abilities on Datto and the others and he'll be forgotten.
Use Jechtshot and you won't be getting any of the tackle abilities.
