The 'rare pokemon' one is 100% true, you have one chance to catch pokemon not exclusive to your version before they are gone forever. The easiest example being running into a caterpie / weedle in viridian forest only once.

Check every trashcan in every Pokemon game ever. THERE WILL BE SOMETHING IN ONE AGAIN I JUST KNOW IT.

In gen 3, I used an Ultra Ball to capture Kyogre, another one for Rayquaza and a Master Ball for Latios, because fuck having to fight Latios when it always flees the next turn and you have to hope you run into it again.

I duped it several times in Pokemon Yellow. I never used it in Leaf Green cause you don't need them when gen III balls are introduced.

You only need to awaken one Snorlax to progress with the game. You can leave the other until after the Elite 4 if you really want to.

You can ignore the flute for a pretty long time.

I had already captured Entei and Raikou, and was getting sick of the "suicune has fled" (I was like 10 or something around the time of Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal and I didn't know of anything that could trap them and force them to stay at the time) so I was like fuck it and threw the Master Ball at Suicune so I wouldn't have to chase the fucker around the entire map again
