I want to play Disagea and i was wondering if the PC port of the game is good, if not which version should i play? i don't have a ps2 available to play it right now so its either the DS,PSP or PC version.

And Disgaea thread i guess.

What about emulating it

I have a potato so i can't emulate anything from the ps2 era.

Theres nothing wrong with the pc port. If you plan to buy it and not pirate it, the summer sale is coming, so it might get discounted

PSP for 1 and 2
Vita for 3 and 4
PS3 for D2 (hopefully Vita in the future)
PS4 for 5

I think the PC version has all content and the summer sale is coming soon.

I'd recommend any version but DS though, I've heard that one is shit.

I was asking about the pc version because when it came out people where fucking trashing it as a DmC 3 tier port, so i was hesitant.

Didn't the PC version crash a lot, though?

the issue is that Disgaea1 is pretty limited, without evilities the game is really dull.

I don't know, I played it on ps2 and psp.

Looking at reviews it would appear that it does although most comments say it works well most of the time so if you could survive with saving often it's probably fine.

Saving often on Disgaea 1 is mandatory anyway, I played only up to 3 at the moment and 1 was the hardest

they fixed most of the issues, there's some mods that add some of the extra characters and helps fix more issues

just save fairly often and you should be fine, make sure you save every chance you get in the item level type thing, you probably won't NEED to but it does crash sometimes after long periods of time

I didn't think 1 was that bad unless you count post game. Although it's the only one I had played until I picked up 5 just recently.

There was a problem with those that were using steam's client beta. It was a problem only at launch.

It's fucking Disgaea, dude. I was able to emulate that game with a toaster from 2007.

It is flawed, but all crashes have been fixed.

Some textures still broken, though, and the game have a little screen tearing on the main hub even with vsync

It is decent, some minor problems. If you dont want to set up a PSP emulator, you should be all fine

I'm not saying it was bad, actually I really enjoyed how it pushed my shit in. The first battle against Mid-Boss is pure bullshit, and after defeating him I felt like never before

Started playing out this game and holy hell have I been missing out. Just got to the red moon episode. Do the other games in the series keep the 1st one's humor? Or do they just turn to edgy RPGs that barely put any focus into the gameplay itself?

It's mostly solid now. It had a rocky launch, but they put a lot of effort into fixing it, rather than just dumping it and fuck you gotcher money.

If you want to buy it and not just pirate it, it's a good choice. PSP if you want to pirate. DS never.

Just the opposite. With Disgaea, the focus always stays on the mechanics, while the story generally gets weaker.

Sup Forums hates 2, but that was my favorite story wise. Everything after that has humor, and has some good characters, but the stories start becoming whatever where's my postgame.

They do keep the humor going, so don't worry.

Also, check out the Prinny series on the PSP which are platformers that start off easy enough, then quickly proceed to Ghosts And Goblins-tier difficulty.

Yes, and most of the focus remains on gameplay.

Some people don't like 2 and 3, I haven't played either, but my brother liked them. 4 was considered on the level of 1 I think, and 5 is pretty likeable and has like the longest main story.

I still personally like the cast of 1 the best, but Seraphina is top tier.

DUDE, LETS MAKE IT SO THAT YOU CAN'T CONTROL YOUR DIRECTION WHILE JUMPING
What the fuck were they thinking?

they wern't

>Got to the Red moon

Oh, boy, now the wild ride begins.

It's 3 that everyone hates, not 2

>just want to get a dragon
>4000 mana
is there an easier way?

Nah. People do hate 3, but read enough disgaea threads on Sup Forums, and you'd think 2 did something to them personally.

>It is flawed, but all crashes have been fixed.

Not correct. There is still an overflow bug that is caused by too many attack number counters appearing. Once the game reaches a certain amount of those, it crashes. The only fix is with a third party tool that removes the numbers.

Unless you want to play for the achievements, or absolutely need the hi-res interface, emulate the PSP version instead. It'll also give you savestates and has the Foresight bug which allows you to get high-level weapon innocents much faster (ie. instantly).

Well what you expected from that boss fight? You are fighting the fucking Overlord.

just capture one

Find one in battle, weaken it and throw it onto the base panel.

Not the guy you responded to, but one of my laptops cannot run PS2 emulation due to its software switchable graphics, and for whatever reason games and software only recognize the onboard chip instead of the discreet graphics card.

>throw him on
>"you captured a monster!"
how the fuck did I not know about this?

DS one is the best content wise but not worth it in my opinion due to graphical/sound downgrade

Please don't say anything good about the DS version ever, somebody might play it.

Does it have anything the psp one doesn't.

>Does it have anything the psp one doesn't.
yep

like i said not advocating it but still the best one when it comes to content

An extra party member, various cutscenes and voice acting, extra bosses, more spells, actual difficulty, more scenes in general, a proper script, and an augment system to teach characters extra abilities.

PPSSPP works on voodoo magic, try that version if you don't want to play the PC version.

Actually, don't. Disgaea is awful.

Got 80 hours on the Disgaea PC version and got all achievements.

From what I've read, if you have the following components, you will have difficulty playing the game (it will crash on occasion):
>Integrated graphics
>An AMD graphics card

I'm not sure if they have fixed those bugs since launch.

PSP has more voice acting and you can teach characters abilities in the PSP one through mentoring or whatever it was called.

What extra bosses? I know it has a few extra characters but unless someone can give specifics I think you're just spouting bullshit.

Geryon and Proto-Babil.

>mfw i have a laptop with an amd integrated graphics card.
Welp, i'm fucked, guess i'll go with the psp version.

It's one of the best versions so go ahead.

Try it anyway, you can choose the background and models for even shittier toasters.

hell no, my laptop with intel graphics run it better than my nvidia.

Was the Disgaea anime any good? Been meaning to watch it.

Like only one good episode otherwise it was trash

not really

Reminder that Majorita is the best Disgaea loli.

Not by a longshot

OP here,i got the PC version, after fixing a problem where i didn't have sound i started playing.
Any beginner tips? i played tactics ogre and ff tic-tacs before so i know most of the mechanics in the genre.

prove it

Give Flonne a mage pupil so she can learn offensive magic from them and actually attack.
