Boss is honorable and heals you and your party before you fight him for a fair match

Then you kill him.

>Boss is cynical beast that kills his minions doing battle with his attacks
I've been meaning to making a FF4 thread lately since I've been playing it on the DS recently.
Honestly, I don't know how I feel about this game so far. On one hand, I'm enjoying myself when I actually have to strategize instead of just pressing "attack" to win. It's hard, but unfair at times.I recently just just lost Yang And I'm pretty pissed about that. I was really pissed off when I lost Parom & Porom as they kicked the fuck out of Tellah for being way better mages and having actual mp to use instead of fucking 90! Goddamn.
Rubicante was an interesting boss fight. Hell, he must have been spectacular for the time period he was in.
>boss is honorable and gives you a sword before you fight him for a fair match
If you're playing it for the first time, get used to losing party members up till you get what'll eventually be your "endgame" team.
The DS version doesn't let you swap back in the older party members, but once you've got the Twincast augments, save it for Cecil and Rosa.
Also the DS version is harder than the other versions, by virtue of enemies being buffed and experience earned generally decreased.
>Boss heals your party before the fight.
>You healed before the encounter with your items.
Shame the second time you fought him and his "party" they were no harder then the first time.
>only way to progress is to lose boss fight
>boss hits so slowly and for normal amounts of damage you assumed you could win
>you used up a lot of your high-end healing item stash
If i recall they limited Tellahs magic so you cant use his ultimate spell in the original versions.
>Boss has an attack that reduces your teams HP to 1.
>Forced to use all your good healing items to survive the fight.
>It has a second phase after that.
The final few battle rounds of my first playthrough of Final Fantasy 9 was with my entire party except for Zidane dead, with Zidane in Trance, and Berserk'd, just repeatedly whaling on Necron. It was a hell of a nailbiter, but when Necron was in the throes of death it was one of the most cathartic experiences I'd ever had.
>You have to fuck the boss to beat him
>boss is such a bro you feel bad for killing him
>cutscene after killing you
>He isn't mad, he totally understands
>feel worse
>boss is a douche and makes you go through a shit ton of hard ass enemies before you fight him
>no way to get more healing items once you're in the dungeon
>boss is the poster below me
>i fuck him after i defear him
>boss is poster above me
>he is a faggot
>The two bosses above me are trapped in the same room together
>player walks in on them punching each other, naked
>Two bosses are fighting eachother and another boss is watching
>I fuck both the defeated bosses after they punch eachother out and keep eye contact with the third boss the entire time to establish dominance
>then you have to go through trial and error bullshit to figure out his one weakness
>every boss in FFIV after the Magus Sisters
Such a shit game.
pic related will revive a party member after killing them and then kill them and the rest of your party again.
Annihilator Hadouken has a 60% instakill rate too that hits the whole party
Obligatory Hyadain link youtu.be
Yup, when he finally learns Meteo he never gets enough MP to allow you to cast it in battle. You won't get the chance until much later in the game with other mages.
>You then proceed to spam Steal in order to cheese him into never using his major attacks
Play the SNES version and you can underflow his MP and use it the whole time you have it.
>You then proceed to spam Steal in order to cheese him into never using his major attacks
>the game never tells you this works and just just have to randomly figure it out by trial and error
