No. Pick whichever one looks interesting to you. Just keep in mind that 3 and everything after is vastly different than the games before it in a lot of aspects.

As someone that started playing the Persona games on the PS1, playing the older games in the series is a mistake. They are mobile game tier.

Skip 1, it's a bad game
2 is okay
3 is good
4 is good

People will tell you 1 and 2 are the pinnacle of the series and it went bad after 3 and 4, but they're mostly just trying to convince themselves they're hardcore gamers for liking the older games, when they're about as easy as 3 and 4. 3 and 4 go in a very different direction, so you might not necessarily like them but at the very least, they've got good music and improved gameplay. You might prefer the tone of 1 and 2, so I recommend playing 2: Innocent Sin if you're interested in the older games. If you would rather try the newer ones, go with 3: FES or portable.

Play both IS and EP and then stop playing, the rest of the games are shit.

2 had the best story, but easily some of the worst gameplay in the series. 2 is equal to 3 and 4 in my book. 1 is dated.

It's slightly dated and slow. And in regards to IS, easy as fuck even on harder difficulties.

Grinding for cards in order to fuse is terrible. Also the encounter rate and how many types of moves there are.
