Why are the GBA Fire Emblems the only good ones?

Why are the GBA Fire Emblems the only good ones?
Like, Shadow dragon on the DS misses everything that made the games good. The characters are non-existant, and changing classes actually means every unit is completely like the others and replaceable.

Someone never played pic related

>Why are the GBA Fire Emblems the only good ones?
Because you never touched the SNES ones or Ike's games.

Path of radiance is the best fire emblem with an english translation followed by Conquest. Neither of those are gba games

>Why are the GBA Fire Emblems the only good ones?

FE4, FE5, FE9 and FE10 disagree with you.

really liked the sprites and animation for this game
>tfw was hoping they would bring a good fire emblem to the NDS until "shadow dragon" happened
good god how lazy they got at that point

Just finished 4
Wasted potential, you fags complain about Awakening but the maps in 4 are another whole level. Story is fine.
It's ok, but not the greatest masterpiece you all made it out to be.

>tfw critical hits are now just "jump back, leap forward with weapon" and "jump back to launch magic ball"

>lyn's thighs

characters still have individual bases and growths in the DS games.

GBA FE is solid, but I prefer SNESFE and Tellius.

that being said I like all of em so whatever.

Memes aside, Conquest is incredibly solid in everywhere except the plot.

Also, Genealogy of the Holy War is the best Fire Emblem game, with Thracia as a very close second.

The animations of the gba fire emblems are some of the most satisfying things to behold, especially when a crit saves one of your units from certain death

>he actually fall for the old games are good and better than modern games meme

most of these old faggots who keep preaching that didn't even touch those games for nearly a decade or more. They don't dare to actually play the game they are shilling for fear of breaking their own nostalgia glasses.

which is why always take a look on how the gameplay is like in youtube. If you don't like it, then the game isn't for you.

They aren't it's just that you prefer that style and all three are carbon copies of each other. Also the characters in the GBA Fire Emblem are bland as hell.

>the maps in 4 are another whole level

Yeah FE4 is pretty boring. I have a feeling its liked by those who just want to spend turns where you do pretty much nothing but move units around the ridiculously oversized maps instead of people who want to play a strategy game.

What makes the SNES games so good? I haven't played any of them

>Thracia
>good

lel, enjoy your bullshit difficulty

>people still complain about spending time just walking around a map
>when the game gives you warp and return staves in the second chapter

While Chapter 7 still takes forever and the fact that said items are missable is an issue, I dunno how so many people have trouble getting around the huge maps

Maps still should be redesigned, everything being said. Chapter 1's forest is stupid.

only real BS in thracia is the two warp tile maps and Chapters 4x/5.

thracia being an asshole is part of the fun.

>Why are the GBA Fire Emblems the only good ones?
>CON

I'd put FE5, 9, 10, and conquest above the GBA games.

FE4 had some interesting ideas in both gameplay and story. However, while the massive levels are really cool, the gameplay ends up being a bit stale. FE5, on the other hand, is one of the best games in the genre mostly due to its god-tier level design.

Because you haven't played the Jugdral or Tellius games.

How? FE 4 has the most in-depth FE story by far. The maps are fuck huge, but that's because of how the game's paced/flowed. Unlike a lot of later FE games those maps weren't just made for one particular scenario, but multiple scenarios.

What are you guys expecting from Shouzou Kaga's upcoming (s)rpgmaker game, Vestaria Saga?

And have any of you played berwick saga in moonrunes?

The best one is on the SNES.

probably gameplay will be shit since gameplay and game design have improved quite a lot over the years after he left.

Conquest > Radiant Dawn > 7 & 8 > Awakening & Path of Radiance > Revelation

I've never played any of the other ones and I've only played PoR on English so no Maniac mode

should be cool

Because you started with the SIXTH in a series and then got to play a remake of the FIRST game.

I would assume you never played the GC and Wii ones, too.

>FE 4 has the most in-depth FE story by far.
And is still not that good.
>Unlike a lot of later FE games those maps weren't just made for one particular scenario, but multiple scenarios.
I wish the scenarios were separated, then, since it completely shatters most nonmounted units and renders those without legendary weapons even more useless than they already are.

>FE7
>sixth

>tfw you get used to the regular animations that you instinctively know when an attack is a crit because of the delay between animations

It's like "[Your Pokemon is confused!] It" taken to an extreme.

I'd put Radiant Dawn, PoR and Thracia above GBAs and 3DS games.

I would assume he started with Sword of Seals.

people without legendary weapons are still useful in FE4. Lacking a legendary weapon is only an issue with certain bosses.

its not like the game needs to worry about perfect balance because there's no competition for deployment slots.

>The maps are fuck huge, but that's because of how the game's paced/flowed.

No it isn't considering the movement stats between foot and mounted units are massive half the time your foot units will get to a location by the time your mounted units have already finished with them.

In chapter 2 you want the Bargain Ring there's next to no way your foot unit are even doing anything for the first 3/4's of the chapter.

I remember I was exceedingly excited to play on the huge maps when I first played, and I had a great time at first.

It did get old though. I'm not saying its not extremely cool, I'm glad to have played on it. Its just that it probably could have done better.

usually I can get Holyn and some others to help out with the enemies guarding the castle after Raquesis's

That being said, Chapter 2 certainly should been better designed. Chapter 3 is an example of how footlock units are able to actually contribute

Path of Radiance & Radiant Dawn are the best Fire emblem.

Radiant dawn has arguably the worst character availability out of the series. Having characters available for 5 or so missions is just fucking stupid. Choosing a team is part of the fun of fire emblem games. Radiant Dawn has an abundance of useless characters.

Still a good game, I just don't think it's top tier.

Super Robot Taisen OG1 and OG2 are better games than both of the GBA FE games.

But that doesn't happen all the time though. That's more for the outdoor areas in which case EVERY Fire Emblem game, no, EVERY SRPG turns out like that. In certain other levels, this really doesn't matter as much.
