No idea how to learn to code the shit I need
You probably would have to learn this at some university or something, but this would require to get in contact with people, which is bad
I don't know how to code my own video games
or design my own characters.
For fuck's sake. I'm fucking trying. Get off my back.
I've never had a good idea for one.
No idea how to code, although I can art okay
Also no character designs for my planned protagonists
Just post on AGDG saying you need an idea and the floodgates from the ideas guys will open.
It's fun to come up with concepts and dissing stuff, but making a coherent game and programming it and making models, shit.
I fucked up a single line of code for a simple flash game, and couldn't figure out how to fix it.
I lack good ideas, but once I have them and an artist willing to help me I'll do my dream Visual Novel
Because if i did id fail and have to rationalize my continued existence as an armchair dev instead. -every gamer ever
If you have a dream VN that means you have an idea outside of "I wanna make a VN"
In which case also pursue a writer
Plok looks fun and Clarent is actually really neat, don't know what the fuck is up with that jpg quality.
That's why I said "good" ideas, I sure have some but they'd be hot shit and/or wouldn't have a way to fit them in a story
How 2 maek game Sup Forums
I prefer writing and gameplay gets in the way of that.
That being said, I prefer when games emphasise gameplay
Beg for money and then run away
Visual novels are like the easiest shit to make tho, just fuck around in Renpy or Novelty until you get something bordering on 'ok fanfiction' territory.
If you can't think of any good ideas to save your life, write a shitty ecchi harem.
After that you can probably get some 16 year old edgy teenager on deviant art to help draw the characters, after lurking the forums enough.
Release it for 1.99 on steam and watch the neetbux flow in.
It won't be good, but it'll be a start.
Motivation.
Has anybody else here figured out how to fix this?
My dream game is set in a magical castle with it's own quirks and secrets, sort of like Hogwarts.
>Time
>Money
>Need to get people who know coding, animation, script writing, art, and a plethora of other things
Making a game is way more harder than you think
Not with no job and a vast array of Unity tutorials, user.
I think I have a good "story" and "characters" but I don't know how to come up with good designs.
Being an Idea guy is fun until you realize 99% of your ideas are shit
add belts
the main character should have the second highest belt count
the anti-hero should have the highest
>do the art, code and writing for my own game
>released a test build of said game to my friends 2 days ago
>everyone loved it
>"this inspired me to work on my own projects more"
>friend even drew fanart because she liked it so much
>still riding the high as I keep working
What game?
Post pics, inspire me
I'm not posting anything about it on Sup Forums since the last time I posted a screenshot, I got 8+ replies about how it's a tumblr game because it has a not-white lead.
I don't even use tumblr.
this, i want to believe senpai
It's fucking time consuming
i'm lazy and busy and i have so many other things sapping away what little motivation i have that i just don't even bother pretending that i'll make one anymore.
user, come on, I don't even care if it's Tumblr: The Game, I want to see it, pretty please
Or if you wanna source me, it's fine too
why put the any effort into shit when people are gonna do it for you
Drugs. Get some of the shit they give to ADD kids and you'd be surprised how clear and clean your mind will feel and how motivated and dedicated to anything you're doing you'll be.
Laziness and apathy get the best of me
user pls
how do i get it
I'm not going to tell you how to score dexies man, you might be underage.
I kind of want to, sometimes get jelly of all those indie dev fags making millions of bucks.
They're all uninspired garbage, I could think up something better on the shitter.
I've been making freeware games for 10 years, user.
This is my most recent one:
Find one of those Tor-based drug markets. They're pretty safe as long as you order domestically.
Come on user, it's your game, you don't need to be ashamed
Making a game is already an achievement, so you can do whatever the fuck you want with it
Nope, sorry, blame /agdg/
That place is terrible if you want to get anything done by the way. Just do your work on your lonesome.
pls show your game, user
you know they're just baiting you with the tumblr nonsense
But I am working on one.
With RPG Maker
Anyone knows where I can get a full version of Game Maker for free? maybe I can make my own game then.
I need some mufuckin Dwarf Merchant in my life.
1. I suck at coding so i cant be on the building end
2. Not really good at the creative department either.
done as in sexually? well, it's not female nor does it have a penis and thus i can't suck its trap dick now can i
I'd try all of them, t b h
Is this an actual problem? I was planning on making my lead character brown
Because unless if you want to make a shit game you need to do one of the following
>Spend all of your spare time doing it as a hobby for the next five years and watch your game fall to the usual pit of amateur games with extremely slow patch rates after a certain point and an extremely low playerbase
>Take a loan and start hammering out code and fail with about 85% certainty since unless if you are a houdini of coding and marketing anything you could possibly do has already been done and/or marketed better and your game also needs to be from a popular genre or from a niche genre that still has a lot of demand
Also mandatory mention that you need to actually know coding and you have to be the ideas guy to some extent who also has some degree of artistic vision. For every small indie game company or single man dev team that succeeds there are a thousand examples of ones that fail regardless of their games being good or bad.
Because i lack discipline.
I always build up the motivation to start working on a vidya project
then i get lazy and stopped working on it
Now i have another great idea for game again.
Just need to build up the motivation again
wow user, why are you so defeatist?
Not really, it's just Sup Forums and the SJW boogeyman
Still learning to code and practicing artwork + static sprite art. Writing is mostly done as far as the outline goes. I have probably twenty years to rework it as I go, considering it's a hobby instead of a job.
Turns out making an SRPG is really not as bad as I expected, though. Turn based games on grids take so much shit out of development. I don't even need physics or any pain in the ass shit like that. It'll leave me more room to focus on fun.
I've been making steady progress on my game. Did some major revisions last week, but I'm still stalling too much when it comes to finishing the artwork. I'd like to have a demo ready for Itch.io by mid-july.
Come on user, we're not even the same board as them. /vg/ always manages to be bigger assholes than us aside from a very small handful of generals.
user pleeeeeeeease ;_;
My team is filled with a bunch of autists with one of them feeling superior to the rest despite not contributing a damn thing.
I'll never give up, not for a second.
holy shit just make a game yourself, or get a better team
Vidya as of now is too fucking hard and time consuming to make
>waste several years of your life to create some pixelshit indie survival roguelike with crafting and meta plot about furries
>on the off chance it gets super popular with hipsters, you'd make 50-100k, could've wagekeked the same with less effort
Fuck this. As far as artistic sensibilities go, its never gonna the game you actually want to make, even AAA-devs constantly have to cripple their own idea to fit the budget and time constraints. Maybe in the future programming languages will be replaced with something less retarded
Is he the project lead?
i'll look at your game user, it sounds like a cool concept.
Proper project management is hard.
Am making an ant mmo with factions (species) and roles.
[Placeholder Title] should be the official name of that thing he keeps showing us
Thank you, I hope you like it. The rules take a little getting used to (through reading the manual), but once you learn them, I think it's quite engaging.
Fleshing out concepts and writing are very slow processes for me. No 2D engine right now has all the features I want, either. Can't wait for Godot to finally support DragonBones
I always worry I'm too ambitious. I trim things back, but run into a small problem that seems insurmountable and because I don't have a team I can't lean on anybody and lock up. I don't know how single man teams can make 3D games but I can barely get moving towards the basics.
I haven't even tried... I got too intimidated...
Forgot image
So he can tell himself he didn't miss out on making his dream come true.
This is such a nice map. I like looking at maps in games/books/etc., you really hit the nail on the head of how to make a good map.
B...but I have.
It's only on Android though for now, released it a few days ago. My first one, hopefully many more to come. Just hoping to make these small-ish games for now until I can have enough funds from them to quit my dayjob and start working on my "Big dream" game.
Try it out, it's called Dega Madness
I've had some people tell me theres framerate problems in certain areas, but I'm working on that.
verge looks cool tbqh
Thanks
The left half of the image isn't quite finished yet though (you can still see my handwriting for most of the names, and I'm deliberating on whether or not I should remove a lot of cities for the sake of not having to put a ridiculous amount of padding between cities to make them seem like they're hubs instead of littered around constantly)
And I'm also working on the names (for example, way too many things with Peletha in the name in the same area)
Not my field of profession, and it's not like anyone else would be interested in my ideas for a game.
Ha ha
What kind of game will it be?
That part of the map is wonderful, too.
REMINDER THAT BROWN LEAD IS FINE AS LONG AS ITS AN ELF OR LITTLE GIRL
Fuck off, brown lead is alright if it's not forced
Platformer RPG (which brings up questions about how exactly I'll translate a map to a sidescroller without odd workarounds like portals everywhere)
Previous attempts at developing something got compared to Castlevania (all my ideas stemmed from me wishing Maplestory wasn't a shitty game when I was much younger), but my ideas change a lot over time and it's been a while since I took a crack at developing it
Gonna start from scratch for about the 5th or 6th time when I feel ready, which might not be for a while
Finally glad you faggots got your release date down. Try not to fuck it up again
I tried. The experience was fun, satisfying, and brutal. Gained a bettter apreciation for video games and learned some programming.
I've been itching to try again, this time with my own ip, but apparently my imagination died when I graduated high school. Can't think of anything solid within the scope of what I can do alone.
I made Minecraft
Hello Notch
You're my favorite shitposter
I'm a lazy piece of shit who wastes 40 hours a week being a wage slave then comes home and has no ambition for anything productive.
Also I'm on Linux, so most of the more friendly tools aren't an option.
That's why you comment your shi
>one of my first big projects
>barely commented anything
>barely even knew how to make neat looking code
>go back to it like a year later
>spend forever trying to figure out what the fuck is happening
I know better now, but fuck was that an awful experience. I can't imagine being a real programmer trying to decipher Pajeet's spaghetti code.
True devs use Linux
No.
Linux is great and everything, but it gets shit support from game engines.
>Linux is great and everything, but it gets shit support
fixed
