It's funny how CWizzy still triggers so many people.

We'll suffer together, then.
We'll be laughing in the end, though.
You brought it upon yourself when you fell for the VR meme
>10 years
Holy fucking shit. I can't believe it.
Sony 2006 conference will always be the highlight for me as the worst conference ever. There's Nintendo 2008 sure, but that was basically Nintendo waving its dick around after it had already won the generation. Sony 2006 would shape the next 7 - 8 years of the videogaming industry. Insane.
the "vr meme" is a meme
you fell for the vr meme meme
Hard to believe we all hated the PS3 at one point.
I love sushi.
VR is the new motion controls and anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded

It was a different time.
I remember when people said HDTV and Blu-Ray were going to flop, too.
What the fuck moot, why did the spoilers alternate between working and not working
didn't they hype up haze the year after
VR is the future and anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded
See how easy it is to have an "argument" on Sup Forums?
It's okay, user. Maybe if you call enough things shit, one of them will eventually be shit, and you'll be validated.
I remember when people said HDDVD was going to win the format wars
It's nice technology, but it isn't there yet. I'll be really interested in what shows up a decade from now.
Fortunately VR """games""" have been doing a great job of validating me already :^)
>Bluray vs HD DVD
>Blockbuster signs a deal to only stock HD DVD's and refuses to carry Bluray
>Sony announces the PS3 will be an affordable Bluray player
>Blockbuster no longer exists
All of these moments will be lost. Like tears in the rain.
I was barely aware of HDDVD's existence at the time. Meanwhile everyone hated Blu-Ray.
DS, like every other Nintendo handheld, has no region coding.
I remember the first time I saw a DVD player was at the state fair. They were asking $600 for it.
Everyone said the PS3 was a failure because it was expensive and had no games.
Only time will tell if VR ends up being a hit, but it'll always have its niche of enthusiasts to keep it afloat.

Of course it's not "there" in the sense that it's ready for mass-market adoption. It's an enthusiast-level tech that most people shouldn't pick up unless they're incredibly excited about it already. But it's not going away again in the sense that it went away after the shit HMDs in the late 90s/early 2000s, or like the Virtual Boy. At that point, it was little more than proof-of-concept.
I'm excited to see how the tech grows. The iphone launched 8 years ago for 600 bucks - now you can buy something with equivalent or better specs in a walgreens for less than the price of a new video game. Applying that kind of technological progression to something like a Vive gets me hard.
to keep it topical, remember the PS3's first years?
>implying there aren't good VR games
Within a month or two of both devices being on the market, we have EVE: Valkyrie, Hover Junkers, Call of the Starseed or whatever, lots of simulation games, Incredible Machine, countless ports, various games with VorpX, several emulators including Dolphin, and that's without looking anything else up

Motion controls were a viable product and anyone who thinks otherwise is a cock smoking faggot. The only reason motion controls fell from hype is because "b-buh baby toy" faggots who just couldn't accept that their shitty little world was changing around them
