IF YOU PICK WOW:
Solo quest in Azeroth as much as possible before 60. Don't just grind the dungeon finder que or PvP. Do the dungeons and do PvP, but don't skip questing. The world Blizzard created in Azeroth is very rich and you should explore it as much as possible.

FFXIV is pretty good too.

With friends? WoWnilla/TBC. Alone? WotLK/Cata.

There are many aspects of XIV that make me want to kill myself(including its fanbase), yet, I got 4 characters, each one with different "themes" (implies multiple Lv60 classes). Every 60DoH/DoL on 2 characters.

FFXIV, why would you even consider WoW at this point when most of it's playerbase has already jumped ship?

FFXIV has the best crafting of any MMO

Choose one of the most active ones and try to join a free company as soon as you can for the free exp bonuses, I think gilgamesh, leviathan and excalibur are the most active ones, however you can only create a new character there at around 2-3 am due to the amount of people logged in

I know its from FF9 and all but something about this boss just feels creatively defunct. I mean its some kind of universe absorbing eldritch sphere with no real backstory. The environment is pretty, but the developers of XIV are too 'safe' with their boss arenas.

Then XIV.

WoW still has a great endgame experience and overall slightly better controls but the rest has grown fairly mediocre and tepid. While some of that may just be bias because I have way more time in WoW than XIV, I do think that WoW's dev team (I don't want to just generalize Blizzard because I like a lot of their other games) greatly overestimated that the amount of people that didn't raid didn't because they couldn't and not because they didn't want to. Years of overestimating that has bit them in the ass.

XIV has a lot of fun, silly stuff to do and try out plus a pretty solid story throughout. I just had a blast tonight doing treasure map hunts with my Free Company, hoping for Aquapolis portals to spawn and then the silly tension as we waited for each vault door to open or slam shut in our faces.

If you try out XIV take your time with it. Explore, try out the various classes, try the professions, hang out at the Gold Saucer... just don't blitz the Main Story Quests because you want to do the endgame raids. The game offers so much (And now it's easier to find because the quests that unlock features have a new marker since last week's patch) and to pass it by is stupid.

Oh, and get ready to go to the Waking Sands. A lot.

Nowadays you can't make some boss really hard or too different or the casual crowd will flee the game, hell, currently Ozma is wrecking casuals ass on a daily basis.

Retail WoW is a complete joke of a game that has buckled under its own feature-itis. What was once an admirable DAOC clone with more polished gameplay is now just a single-player mobile game where you sit in your garrison all day, queue for LFR, interact with absolutely nobody, and receive all of your loot in a scheduled tray under your door.

FFXIV's a better experience than retail WoW by a longshot, but if you can play on a Vanilla WoW server, then that's what I'd recommend.

XIV monk is by far the easiest melee dps, while Windwalker has been pretty hard last time I logged into the Legion beta. Monk has a series of positionals and stances he switches through so his next moves will have different effects. Has the highest personal DPS in the game but brings the least group support.

As someone who played WoW for 10 years, no. The leveling in its current state isn't enjoyable whatsoever. Every dungeon is trivial as fuck because you will be playing with people who get gear to wear on low level characters that accelerate the pace of the game. What this means for people who are new is that you will have no fun doing anything, because all dungeon mobs will die in literal seconds. You don't do shit, and you won't get to do shit for hours and hours until you reach max level. At least in FFXIV it requires you to use some portion of your brain to do dungeons and level up. It's not great by any means but you'll definitely feel more engaged. Community in WoW in nonexistent outside of raiding. In FFXIV people are pretty friendly and helpful to new players. They typically toss you some cool items too.

So if you are willing to learn you should go for NIN or SMN. Both have different playstyles, so pick the one you think looks cooler. BRD is in a bad place right now.

You're playing the wrong game user

If you think you play XIV with bots who are always silent you have never seen how dead the WoW crowd is. Leveling is the most miserable experience, hence why you get a free character boost to skip it. Seriously, people just sprint through dungeons, you'll rarely encounter anyone in the world and even at endgame people rarely talk outside of guild chat.

Of all ranged DPS MCH has the highest mobility. If you manage your ammunition well you can be running around a lot. That being said your opener is the most important part of your dps, so if you don't like the fact that you have to cram all your skills into the 20 seconds of wildfire you'd be better off with another class.

You are wrong, as a healer you know your limits and learn when to DPS or not, there is no gambling other people's lives, we have benediction, swift cast and tetragamatron for those moments

and conjurer heals are about healin dots and mitigation, they got all the time in the world between recasting on their tank to throw damage out

You will never convince me that a healer should do anything but heal. The trinity exists for a reason.

In daily dungeons my healer literally does more damage than 80% of the dps I am grouped with for trash pulls. Why anyone would skip on that is beyond me. Same for any 2 healer duty finder content. It is so trivial that I literally tell my co-healer to go full on dps. The faster the run is finished the less chances of someone getting killed.

It got buffed and has about the same damage output as MCH as well as Battle voice getting a massive buff which increases damage for your caster and healers in raids by a lot.

Focusing on keeping the party healthy negates the need for OH SHIT buttons, save for extreme cases, or retarded dps.

I've got no problem learning an opener, I've got my BLM one down pretty well. It's managing Enochian on top of Astral Fire that frustrates me, especially when fucking it up or having the boss move away at the wrong time makes me lose 50% of my DPS.

Any healer that chances a death because they focused too much on dps is just a bad healer then. A good healer will always prioritize keeping the party alive and only dps when they're confident everyone is in a good place for the next 3-whatever seconds.

Honestly I'm thankful as a healer I have things to do like actually contributing to DPS and the speed of a run.

Both are shit, I'd go with WoW if I had sine that game actually has content in it. Pointless content and theres no mainstory to speak of which sucks.
