Miyamoto really needs to retire, he is a fossil from another century

Krystal > Miyu > Fay > Fara > Katt > Lucy >>>>>> Amanda

I might actually prefer Kat Ver2

>You will never have a threesome with Fay and Miyu

>These two still have the most clear personality of all the Star Fox characters, and they haven't spoke a single line of dialogue.

God I had such high hopes for Zero. It had the music and it had the presentation, but it had nothing original to it. No substance that could not be summarized by gimmick controls or SF64 rip-off.

Miyamoto just pulled a Sticker Star on Star Fox: Take the most popular game of the franchise and just center a new game around it. Guy hasn't made an original idea in over a decade and it shows.

I doubt Star Fox will get another sequel after this, but if it does, I hope someone other than Miyamoto takes the wheel.

>No bioware SF where you spend half the game trying to tap some space vixens or frogs.

>of all the FEMALE starfox characters

typo.

Zero Katt is literally Miyu guys. holy shit

How does Katt know who Miyamoto is?

He ruined both the Mario RPG franchises before he ruined Starfox with the same rules. I hope he retires before anything else is ruined under his charge.

Miyamoto knows his Kat.

>Bioware
pls no

>He ruined both the Mario RPG franchises
wrong sub-franchise killer user

>We'll never get a SF game where you can meet other alien races while traveling to the next mission, negotiate with them, and gain side quests, ala-Star Control 2.
>No SF game where you can go to seedy bars to find mercenary recruits.
>No SF game with legit customizable ships.
>No SF game where there are a shitton of possible paths to go through, allowing the game to be short (But longer than Zero) yet have plenty of replayability.
>No SF game where the endings are not shit, but do change slightly based on your final team and your decisions in the game. Don't need to go fucking crazy like Command did.

Miyamoto said no storyline and new characters which gave the two charm. What's the story with Tanabe?

guess who was at the Sonic Revolution fan convention today and shook hands with the hack of Sonic the Hedgehog

If Pikmin 4 has the Plasm Wraith as an antagonist again I'll know he's gone of the deep end.

He just wants every game to be the exact same.

is that dude on hormonal therapy

everything

I find it sad the some single furry gave the fans exactly what they wanted in starfox as far as attention to characterization, and even some story, and released it at the same time as Zero with far more positive reception.

See, Miyamoto talks about not wanting to make new games in certain franchises unless they do something new, but to him the only way it's "new" is if it uses some gameplay gimmick. Why can't they just look to other game companies for inspiration? Why are they so obsessed with innovation instead of improving what's already there?

>He ruined both the Mario RPG
you're talking about some other hack and some other Mario RPG

Why is he so obsessed with all those knock off Knuckles so much?

He made them.

The Ken Penders fiasco is seriously fascinating. It's literally all he has; the fact that he got lucky enough to legally get away with creating his own merchandise just fuels his obsession.

>But personally, the more restrictions there were the more excited I got
Saddens me they're excited to work with less creativity.

you have a lot to learn

The only thing Nintendo really has anymore is trying to drastically change stuff. If they make a game too similar to their past titles, people complain 'its all the same shit'. But if they try and change their formula too much, people complain 'its doesn't feel like a Mario game! Where's all the nostaglia!'

Nintendo is really fucked either way they try to go. I agree that I wish Miyamoto would be more conservative and get back to the roots of the series. But Miyamoto probably thinks they have a better chance of appealing to new players if they do new things.

The only time Miyamoto really made me mad was when he said he wouldn't greenlight a new F-Zero because 'there's nothing new we can do'. Then Mario Kart 8 comes out...and all its new ideas are taken directly from F-Zero GX. Now, I love Mario Kart 8 and think its the best Mario Kart yet. Maybe even the best Wii U game. But that kind of thinking shows a real problem. What if we haven't gotten a new Duck Hunt game in 25 years because Miyamoto just 'couldn't think of something new'? That's a really dangerous mentality. Plus, Zelda has been the epitome of rehash, and Miyamoto isn't stopping those games.

I used to love Miyamoto but I seriously just want him to retire already.

It's ironic that Miyamoto refuses to make a new game for a franchise unless he can do something new with it, yet just rehashes old plots for those 'new' games.

Paper Mario Sticker Star/Color Splash, Star Fox Zero. Heck I would not be surprised if the next legit Metroid announced (If ever announced) is just a rehash of Super Metroid.

As for the other franchises, he rehashes Zelda and Mario because they always sell. With older games like Star Fox of F-Zero, he seems more concerned that the games won't sell well BECAUSE they are just more of the same. But in those cases, more of the same is what they want. It's the Mario and Zelda games that fans want new stuff from, because we see those all the time.

Star Fox Zero should have just expanded on the original formula of 64 rather than require gimmicks. F-Zero should do the same as well. But Mario? If a new mario game is released, it better do something fresh. The New Super Mario Bros sequel run was headache-inducing.

Where is that white qt from?

The unreleased Star Fox 2 for Super Nintendo.

>'its doesn't feel like a Mario game! Where's all the nostaglia!'
You fanboys always say this but I literally never heard anyone say they hated positive change

"I could have made halo"

"I wish I made Flappy Bird"

"Developers are too caught up in story"

Given his current performance. I these statements are sounding increasingly foolish.

there's nothing wrong the series having the same reoccurring nemesis each game

as long you do it the way Zelda and Metroid does it, unlike how mainline Mario (Bowser every single game) modern DKC (throw out the K.Rool and the new villain each game), it wouldn't be a real fuss.

Zero did a stupid job on leaving out unexplained shit on why Pepper is also in the grey light like Andross and why Andross is suddenly a metallic-to-materialize manifestation again.

>you fanboys
I'm not the one who came up with that.

>but I literally never heard anyone say they hated positive change
So you've never been in any threads for long running series before?

Because the two times he tried doing a non Sonic based comic (Star Trek and his original IP) never went lasted more than two issues.

Dudes career depends on Sonic, which makes him burning all his bridges with Archie and Sega all the more hilarious.

no seriously guys

Zero Katt is literally Miyu

I like to think of nintendo franchises as drinks.

Mario and Zelda are like the Hi-C Fruit Punch and Orange flavors. They are always around, but they can get bland from drinking them too much.

Older IPs are like HI-C Ecto Cooler. It was around when you were a kid and you loved it. That distinct flavor is one you can't forget. So if the drink were to be re-released, you'd want the flavor to be the same. You don't want any 'new and improved' shit. If they say they are re-releasing Ecto-Cooler, they better fucking release the original formula.

Fay is from Star Fox 2

Fey.

>Why can't they just look to other game companies for inspiration?
yeah instead of rehashing SF1 again, let's rehash another existing title! that oughta stop beaten down complaints like "Assault being a poor Halo 2 ripoff"!

POST MORE KRYSTAL~!

Oh hell yeah I know. That was actually why I made that analogy.

At least SOMETHING good came from the ghostbusters remake.

>coca-colacompany.com/stories/hi-c-ecto-cooler-returns-ahead-of-ghostbusters-remake

>first Surge
>then Crispy M&Ms
>now Ecto Cooler

OH MY GOOOOOOOOOD

Where did I say rehash anything? Nintendo is so close minded they don't even notice what anyone else is doing. All they care about is innovating from within their company while everyone else is running circles around them.

The connections extend back to SF64, because Miyu and Fay were remolded into Katt and Bill after SF2 got scrapped. It's really baffling that people like pretend that they had such distinct personalities when all we had to infer about them was a few abandoned animations and some (poorly) translated dialogue from an unfinished product. Everything that "fans" enjoy about Miyu and Fay are just what they project through fanart.

>It got released a few weeks ago
>Keeps constantly selling out

I hope they take the hint and let it stay for good, like they did with Surge.

WTF i like feminists now

>that oughta stop beaten down complaints like "Assault being a poor Halo 2 ripoff"!
they aren't wrong with the Halo part

Assault really felt like it was Star Fox 64 but in Halo standards

i want to cock her spaniel

>We wanted to make it so that players would face stronger opponents
>by throwing out experience points and levels
>in favor of grinding for strong items

>I another game we adopted a system where the player character didn't develop at all
>They solved everything with money

>They may look the same, but we put in some elements in which their personalities are slightly different
>They *look the same* but they're personalities are *slightly* different

>I think personally all we need is to have an objective to in the boss battle.
>We don't need a story like in an RPG

These guys are fucking retarded!

>therapy

Let me correct that last statement for you

>We don't need story in a game series that was fucking CALLED "Mario Story" in Japan.

No myiamoto just needs to get back to what he does best

Make small and short yet innovative games. Like you know, pikimin, brain age, zelda, mario and nintendogs. The kind of shit he excells at and sells by the bucketloads.

This recent gaming culture of AAA sequels that fans demand yearly is not what an artist like Miyamoto was born to do.

Why, what the fuck are you complaining about now?

The Star Fox characters were handled better in Zero

Zelda did innovasjun all the way until SS. Most of it was around waggle and touchscreens but it sure as hell was there.

Mario added something new each interation, either abilities, enemies, powerups or blocks.

FLUDD and gravity+planetoids was shit in 3D Mario

That pink fox is hot.
Is there good stuff?

Is Ken Penders the only person in history to remove his mustache and look MORE like a pedo?

got ya covered senpai

My God, not only does he look autistic but so do his stolen creations.

You can't fool me.
They don't even have the same eyebrows, how can you call that a sexy pink fox.

reminder that Penders came to /3/ once and took a bit of a while for people on that board to figure out who was OP.

This is even dumber than I imagined

Alright here's the real deal, promise :^)

knock knock it's knuckles

And the original Mario RPG remains buried due to corporate bullshit.

People say Miymaoto wasn;t the cause but he btoh gave them the "advice" then stuck Tanabe the guy who pioneered everyone's favorite New Super Mario Bros series as a "supervisor"

It's just asking for trouble.

Idk about that, it's still allowed on the Wii virtual console, just Geno can't be used in any future game despite the fact Square Enix will never make a use of him.

>It's not Miyamoto's fault
>He just came in the office and said the 70% finished game is shit and start over

the SS prototype had sticker elements regardless.

>no sexy eyes
Dropped. False prophet.

>Krystal sucks, she's useless and is just there to be a token hot chick!

Amazing how in Star Fox Zero, they managed to make Katt even worse than how bad the Krystal haters claim Krystal is. She doesn't even have a gimmick like being psychic.

I like Katt and Krystal. I just think Miyamoto is a washed up has-been who can't write female characters for shit.

I still find it odd that Falco has a cat as a love interest out of all things.

I enjoyed the gameplay Star Fox Zero, but it honestly just feels like you could take out everything and just make it all texture-less polygons shooting shit and it wouldn't make a difference.

There's nothing new or intersting about the game aside from the controls. People have been waiting for a real sequel for over a decade, and when we finally get it it's the same we played almost twenty years ago with a new gimmick. It's insulting, and the lack of sales and interest will probably be assumed to be a "lack of interest", when really people just want a fucking sequel to a game they liked.

I know Assault has some mixed reception, but at least it was different. Years from now I could probably still tell you about memorable moments from Assault, but I guarantee I won't have much to say about Zero.

Speaking of F-Zero and gimmicks, I've found myself wondering over the years whether it should be dialed back to SNES-era some if there ever was another game. Shields-as-boost, or three boosts per race period? Ship-checking/spinning to try and knock off opponents, or remove that entirely? On top of that, one thing I'm sure of is that the track needs to be stickier. It was amusing the first few times to get going so fast on one of those cylinder track sections that you simply flew off into space, but that sort of thing really fucks with the "go fucking FAST" dynamic. Not to mention potential problems with coming to the end of a part like that upside-down and instantly falling off. I'd say those should be removed. I don't mind screwing up a jump or falling off a spot with no railing, of course. That said, I wouldn't mind some slower bullshit 90 degree sections in tracks like the SNES version had.

wait a minute did someone dumped a couple of images of Star Wolf and Andross models?

what does Miyu and Bill's look like?

A bird's gotta get his bird in a bird, know what I'm saying. And by the the third bird I meant pussy.

*Katt

>those abominations behind him

NSMB would benefit greatly by removing the triple and wall jumps, returning value to powerups that affect mobility.

It's an irony thing. Especially because she's the one pursuing Falco.

Speaking more pragmatically though, Katt spends most of her time in the first game flirting with Fox, not Falco. In all likeliness made her a love interest for Falco because Fox was getting an official love interest in Star Fox Adventures, and in the prequel comic they delved into Katt having a backstory involving Falco, where she is romantically interested in him but he sees her as more of a younger sister.

Perhaps if Krystal wasn't introduced, Katt would have ended up being more of a love interest for Fox, but it doesn't really matter.

>Star Fox Zero should have just expanded on the original formula of 64 rather than require gimmicks.

That's exactly what Star Fox Zero did. It used it's new control scheme to make the game focused around All-Range mode gameplay. If you call expansion "gimmicks" that's your choice but don't say that it hasn't expanded the gameplay when it does so as soon as the 1st level.

Also you'll need to make a distinction of "what they want" because "they" are usually the fans and "the fans" aren't enough to make a game a success. Fire Emblem is the best example as it was slowly poisoning itself being exactly what the fans wanted. It wasn't it attention was paid to getting new players to play that the series became a success and had it's two best selling games(Awakening and Fates) consecutively after its lowest sales ever.Old audiences don't stick around forever and they aren't necessarily still there between console transitions.

What you want isn't necessarily what the series need to succeed. F-Zero died doing what fans wanted(F-Zero GX).

>It used it's new control scheme to make the game focused around All-Range mode gameplay.
Command did this same exact shit

How is not having K Rool on every modern DK bad? Doesn't that help your example?

>It used it's new control scheme to make the game focused around All-Range mode gameplay.

Not that guy, but the biggest problem was that the new control scheme was ASS and very obviously pushing the Wii-U pad when most people could easily come up with a less retarded control scheme that would still do what it needed too.

Also turning the game from a standard scrolling shooter into a more adventure-esque game by adding platforming sections was a stupid move and stank of trying to combine fans of two different genres. That, plus adding a level select also damaged the games replayability.

And F-Zero died because Nintendo stopped making games for it for god knows what reason.

if Ridley or Ganondorf didn't get thrown out when the new villain appear, why should K. Rool? especially when every game the new villain fucks off entirely after the final fight? we don't see the tikis or the demented kongs past the game they initially appeared in.

F-Zero sells like shit. Also, the devs are dead

more like no one bought the anime spinoff's gba games.

>It used it's new control scheme to make the game focused around All-Range mode gameplay.

And those two things are exactly what were wrong with the last couple titles. Arwing! And sometimes a tank! Moving forward in an occasionally winding corridor, with shit to dodge and blow to kingdom come. That's the idea. The basic underlying premise. Yet somehow they've managed to fuck up that simple concept repeatedly for the last two decades, like a food vendor that has bottled water but requires you to buy an Alex Jones tinfoil filter with each bottle.

Because every series is different. I don't see why rehashing Bowser is bad, but rehashing K Rool is okay. Why is there a double standard? It's just 2 DK games.

Nobody bought GX either.

Because they didn't just throw out K.Rool, they threw out Kremlin's in general, when they were the main antagonists of the games and the majority of characters in the DKC games in general on the SNES. They were a distinct part of the DK universe, they threw out something almost as iconic to the series as Goombas and Koopas were to the Mario series.

If they had replaced them with something worthwhile then maybe they could be forgiven but no. In DKCR. we got cookiecutter Tiki crap for bosses and random shit for enemies. No cohesion whatsoever.

The on-rail sections in 0 are top notch you stupid shitposter

F-Zero still had games coming after GX

I think he's saying that the on-rails sections are fine but they keep tacking bullshit on it.

I find it hard to believe FE fans just suddenly turned on the series just because DS had a slightly different attitude towards casual stylus heavy games.

Unless it's a monumental N64/Sega Saturn style screwup you don't just lose 90% of your userbase just from changing to a new console.

Based on the anime that came out around the same time. They put all their chips on F-zero doing well during the 6th gen and it just didn't so they stopped.

Am I the only one who initially hated Star Fox Zero but came to like it after spending about 5 or 6 hours playing it? It's like, suddenly everything just clicked, the controls made sense, I controlled everything pretty smoothly, all of that stuff.

Only thing I didn't like was Fichinia. Fuck that level.
