What is it with Sonic and autism?

What is it with Sonic and autism?

What attracts them to it?

Talking cartoon animals, you dumbfuck.

Simple and colorful cast of characters that are easy to distinguish from each other and simple motivations

Also they go fast, autists like fast things

Who would win in a fight to the death? Ken Penders or Chris chan?

OC potential, the premise of making their own edgy antropomorphic hedgehog attracts autismal people, same reason Homestuck got stupidly popular after introducing the trolls

Because it was once the cool thing to do a long time ago and then it becomes a community. A community of people who want to tell stories and expand on the games Then the non-autistics grow up and move on. Which leaves what you see now, only to have it continue to grow and expand with each generation, to the point where the community outweighs the actual truth of the games and comics.
It gets to a point where the games don't even matter because the community has mutated into the subsection of furry fandom you see today.

This is particularly true for the Sonic games as simple designed, one note motivation characters are thrown together to make games with an ever changing design, setting and lore. It allows anyone to imagine themselves in the universe with their own stories and more complex (or less) character motivations. Which just invites furries and autistic children into an open community where they feel included because their favourite games are always the center of attention.

>attracts them to it
If only. I've seen many a normal(ish) person fall down the slippery slope of autism thanks to Sonic. I'm not sure how or why it happens, but I am almost certain that early and ongoing exposure to Sonic PROMOTES autistic behaviour, rather than just capitalizing off of it

because sonic and his friends are cool

Undertale is the new king of autism

Google your name + hedgehog and you will be in for a surprise.

Many JRPG, MOBA, VN, basically any game with character portraits can do that. Why don't it reach sonic level of autistic fandom?

>What is it with Sonic and autism?
>What attracts them to it?
First you're going to have to provide some data that demonstrates a correlational link between Sonic and autism. There's no point in discussing this further until we have evidence of a connection.

Someone made a really nice and informative list about why certain franchises attract autists. I'll see if I can find it.

I don't think you understand what autism is

Somebody needs to story time this shit again, it was hilariously awful

When the game stopped being about sonic and more about secondary characters is when and why it happened. Fuck you sonic adventures

OH GOD NO NOT THIS AGAIN

nor does anybody in this thread, evidently

the word "autism" in the contex of Sup Forums is a meaningless buzzword. it's as meaningless and childish as calling people "retarded" or "faggot."

you spend enough time on the internet and you can see the correlation first hand

...

Yuyushiki

>it's popular
>most characters follow a simple template (x the y, x being related to the character's gimmick/skill)
>retarded crap like Shadow and 06 opened the door to all sorts of dumb, edgy nonsense
>but mainly because it's popular

Many theories have been floated over the years.
The most plausible one is Sonic being a stock 90's "cool" character.
My favorite theory is that Sonic's eyes are scientifically engineered to appeal to empathy-deficient autists.

confirmation bias and anecdotal evidence.

this is what Sup Forums believes is critical thinking.

You're just being difficult on purpose now. It's a well-known phenomenon. Just go on DevianArt and find out for yourself.

What is it with sonic games anyway? The last good sonic game came out on what? Fucking mega drive?

I'm pretty sure all the Sonic games on ps2 were garbage. So the newer ones can't be better, right? Then why are there Sonic fans in the first place in this day and age?

sleep tight knuckles

>It's a well-known phenomenon.
Well known by whom? Armchair experts? Can you cite any remotely credible source that demonstrates a link between Sonic and autism?

I SEE OR HEAR NO EVIL
BLACK WRITINGS ON THE WALL

No doubt there's a paper on autism somewhere that discusses it. But why would I dig for that to win an internet argument? That would be autistic in itself.

Yuyushiki?

You don't need to make excuses, we know exactly how stupid you are.

Fuck off retard.

>that old Enchantress, Veno, Skeleking, Storm Spirit and Dazzle icons

Bright colours, simple characters which are easy to draw (thus create Sonic OCs) and Sonic being the caricature of what 90s marketing teams thought was cool. Video games also appeal to autism because they have rigid, unbending rules.
