done
So I need to learn dash beforehand?
Does the new version have enough new content to warrant a replay?
Walk up the slope, until you're standing horizontally, then jump off the side and land on the orange block to the right. You can walk around the blocks, and the gravity will basically pull you in the opposite direction of whatever side you're standing on.
Not sure. this is my first playthrough
Ah thanks man :)
Does a hardmode, a completely new area that adds up to 30-60 minutes of gameplay and 2 new abilities which can radically change how you go through old areas sound like it's worth a replay to you?
Is the new area only available for hardmode? Normal is already hard enough for me
No, you can access the new area and one of the two new abilities almost right away (as soon as you have walljump) back at the first spirit well
>30-60 minutes of gameplay
Not really, no. Thanks for answering the question, though.
>not understanding a puzzle of this level
Shouldn't you be a game journalist and blast the game for not being accessible enough?
I'm genuinly interested
Do people like this game to piss people off or is it really good? Look like another "creative" "interesting" "refreshing" indie game to me
It's a pretty fucking good game in my opinion
>Look like another "creative" "interesting" "refreshing" indie game to me
That's exactly the kind of mindset and expectation I had before going into it, but then I ended up having the time of my fucking life playing it
>Look like another "creative" "interesting" "refreshing" indie game to me
Get over yourself you insufferable fag. Its a metroidvania with a nice art and muisc.
Game is good. Story is generic.
Pick up glowing orb, jump left down.
Follow the instruction on the image.
well the fans are like this so i have a hard time seperating legit opinion to fucking bait
Sup Forums is a difficult place to look for opinion, last time they told me Dark Souls were good
>Stuck in fucking Ori the "100% this shit in one day and forget about it the next" blind garbage.
>I will pretend I finished the game and shit on it on Sup Forums despite not having played it
But I have, and it really is fucking mediocre at best.
Great idea to have the last boss as another fucking
>Escape!!1!!! ((no time limit though dude: DD the events are scripted and happen when you move forward!!)).
I'm actually insulted some chucklefuck advertised it to me as a 'metroidvania'.
>last boss
>no time limited
Yeah, you played it all right.
It has a pretty amazing soundtrack for a simple platformer, I hope they'll make a sequel

Try it out yourself, the 'chase' mechanic is dependent on your progress, same as in 'escape from water' scenario.
Not that guy but yeah, it makes a 'checkpoint' (I guess there's an actual checkpoint on easy mode) after passing a short sequence. What's wrong with that?
Each section of the escape has a time limit though
I replayed the Delux edition a month ago.
And no, the chase mechanic doesn't depend on your progress. If you're going too fast, then yes, the water and Kuro will catch up to you. But if you're standing still you will see that it has a time limit. Only "checkpoint" animations are scripted to your progress.
In the water temple you will die if you stand, in the lava chase you will die if you stand, in the final battle you will die if you just stand. Every sequence has its own time limit.
Maybe you shouldn't play on easy and then complain about the game.
It's just lazy design, having the midpoint sequence be mechanically identical to the 'final boss' one.
The game's all bling, no bang.
I always play on the hardest possible difficulty when given an option, mind you.
Yeah, each major area has an escape sequence, but you have to use new abilities in each one
No, in this case it's not lazy design, it's actually a good design decision. Despite getting literally everything you can get, you're nothing against Kuro. Fighting him is for you impossible. You're insignificant. You're there to revive the tree, not to fight him. You're dying in 3 hits from the strong mobs, what could you possibly do against Kuro.
The final battle fits perfectly with the theme of the game and it was extremely well executed.
You can dislike it but you need to be retarded to call it lazy design when looking at the whole game.
Might as well have normal segments then, the escape sequences were all easy as hell.
I'd rather it have actual boss fights or something substantial, one escape is fine but after that? No thanks.
Do I look like I give a single flying fuck about 'plot', 'lore', or 'thematics'? I'd rather be playing games that are actually good in that department, like Nier.
Boiling it all down to gameplay= It's s h i t.
Kuro? More like fucking kuso.
Not him but while Nier has Ori beat in plot, Ori is sure of a helluva lot better and more immersive gameplay-wise than Nier.
I mean, fuck, what is the story even all about?
>Durr tree is ded cuz bird
>Friendly big guy help u
>He gon u sad now
>Gather power from ded guys to revive tree!
>Surprise! Tree bad for bird! Epic! Melodramatic! You can cry now!!!!
It's like out of fucking teletubbies or something.
>Ori gameplay
>shit
I didn't even talk about plot. I talked about the theme. And the theme actually improves the gameplay a lot. It's not something you can take away from the gameplay and have it be completely unaffected.
Yeah, maybe you should actually play the game before you start writing the shit you call a post. But then again we're at square one where you pretend that you did 100% on hard in 1 day.
So please leave the thread if you actually have nothing to write except your uninformed idiocy.
>having the midpoint sequence be mechanically identical to the 'final boss' one
>mechanically identical
But they're very different, the midpoint escape is all about dodging shit while gliding around vertically while the final one is a platforming gauntlet where you have to utilize pretty much all the stuff you've learnt up to that point
I know right, who cares about some cartoon characters with no dialogues
>And the theme actually improves the gameplay a lot
Sure thing boss, whatever you say you fucking dolt.
>Nuu he can't criticize this game if he played it!! He didn't play it at all!!!!!!
Pathetic.
The sequence is identical,
>Escape dude just run away dawg
The differences in level design could've just been done in normal levels, there's no reason to say it's unique now because
>It's in a chase sequence!!!
>completely different mechanics
>dude it's literally the same because you have to escape lmao
>Level design is identical to the stages before
>Dude it's different because you have to escape!
>another thread ruined because underage shitposters obsess over bickering and throwing tantrums against one another, obsessed over getting the last word
What a fucking disgrace. Can't even talk about vidya in vidya threads.
But you didn't play it. That's a fact that you proved by showing that you don't know what you're talking about. You're the one who showed that you didn't play it.
The fact that you said there is no time limit in the escape sequences is proof enough. You can literally see the time limit at the very start of the first escape sequence in the Tree of water. You can't jump right up, you have to walk to the side before you can go up. By the time you do it the water has already risen. If you go to collect anything on the side, you will see the water catching up dangerously close to you.
And no, the sequences aren't mechanically identically. They are thematically identical. You have a limited time to escape. The mechanics are different. First escape requires you to use 1 power. Last escape requires you to use literally everything you got excluding the dlc powers.
CoD:AW is is identical to Tribes: Ascend. Dude, you shoot a gun, dude! It's mechanically identical!
Not like there's much to talk about when it comes to Ori, it's all just:
>Yeah I guess it was okay, pretty game. 8/10
>Didn't like it, another shitty indie platformer, 0/10 raped my mom.
If it wasn't for heated-opinion-talkywalky the thread would've been dead long ago.
You need to carry some gravity orb from before
Jump and reverse gravity to land on the right yellow block.
Walk around it to get on top, reverse again to fall to the left platform and go up
Really cool level
We could talk about wanting to fuck that leaf and get the thread 404'd instead of archived
Yeah man I can't argue with that opinion.
I really fucking love "heated-opinion-talkywalky" in every single thread every single hour of every single day of every single week of every single month of every single year on this horrendous kids-ran containment board.
Ori is a cute girl
>The differences in level design could've just been done in normal levels
They did that though, areas have their own theme/gimmicks to differentiate them from each other and to add more variety
For example the ginso tree is much more vertical in comparison to other areas and utilizes portals to substitute for the lack of sidescrolling
Am I a weirdo if I thought that it was better than just okay?
Slow down, Johnny.
What I mean is that the stage won't advance if you don't move.
Keep it up and I'll have to torrent the whole fucking game again and boot up my save just to rub it in. I'd rather not, you know.
What I'm trying to say here is this:
>The escape sequences are cheap as they provide nothing new, just more platforms that you've already done earlier. No new boss/mob/mechanic to compensate for the climax.
It's just a gauntlet of obstacles that you've already dealt with before, but now it's different because it's a sequence!!!!1111!1! !11 11 !
GOTY 2015 2bh
My fellow african-american
Ori is a cute nullo
>What I mean is that the stage won't advance if you don't move.
Why would it? You will die even with the stage not advancing if you don't move. How is this even a complaint?
The water will catch up to you and you die. A bolder will fall on you and you will die. The lava will catch up to you and you die. Kuro will catch up to you and you will die.
Why would the stage need to advance without you?
>The escape sequences are cheap as they provide nothing new, just more platforms that you've already done earlier. No new boss/mob/mechanic to compensate for the climax.
So a platformed shouldn't have more platforming? And yes, now it's different because you have a limited time to deal with it. And the final was quite a nice climax.
There's already a sequel being worked on
But that's wrong, there are many parts in the sequences where you can just stand still indefinitely, I tested that out when I played it.
I looked up a gameplay video to realize this and then afterwards I felt like a complete fucking retard, it's so damn obvious this is how thing work from every obstacle that preceded it.
Citation needed
If one is actually being made, I really hope it doesn't get fucked over by Microsoft since they seem to own the IP
Source? I hope you don't lie.
I know right, like they fucked over the first one so bad
Ori was fucking great
I hope the sequel is even better
They could make it a Windows 10 exclusive
Only at the "checkpoints" that anons already brought up. Move a bit to the side and wait and you will die.
And even then there are no checkpoints during the water and lava chase and 2 I believe in the Kuro chase. I'm not sure about the ice dungeon chase.
Sup Forums, several times
never looked into it because I like surprises
Or wait, was it that boulders/events only triggered when you moved an appropriate distance instead of time? I can't remember.
Anyway, it felt like shit to play and do.
fuck you for making me check their twitter
Oh god
Unrelated but
>someone I know irl saying a few days ago that most, if not all, games are going to require Win10 within the next 2-3 years
haah waaw
And I didn't actually test that. I believe you're safe in the checkpoints. I know you can't just stand still during chases regularly.
They could screw it over somehow, they already forced the devs to make what could've been a free update like most definitive/enhanced editions into a paid update for original owners which is a bad enough sign for me
Ori and the Will of the Wisps according to a quick Google search
I just found title: Ori and the Will of the Wisps.
Is that it?
>Those flash-tier sunrays
And people think these games are pretty.
I have a hard time believing that they would announce a sequel only after a year when the original game took over 4 years to make and they released the definitive edition fairly recently as well
MATURE GAMES FOR MATURE PEOPLE SUCH AS MYSELF!
You fucking bet.
Play shit like this if you want your setting and immersion and shit.
Let's wait that extra hour then.
>GAMEPLAY IS MOST IMPORTANT
And then you post a pretentious as fuck novel game that barely works! Sad!
Gameplay is most important in games that have no other redeeming factors, you dimwit.
Low energy!
What was the point of the wall run ability? Aside from the disappearing fungus section, it was just made redundant by the wall jump.
Another image from a broken meme game! Sad!
A game that has most satisfying gameplay. The wall between us just got ten feet higher.
What? After I got it I always use it instead of wall jump. I think you move even faster that way. And looks cute.
Btw. you forgot about Charge Jump
It's a straight up upgrade. I believe they did it to not give you the best tools to early.
This guy thinks Fallout 3 tier gunplay is satisfying! Depressing!
1h40m for the Microsoft conference, I hope they confirm it and drop the title screen
Wallclimbing is more efficient than walljumping, and there's a handful of spots near the end where it comes in handy
Another lie from crooked user, shame!
The game is E.Y.E..
You have no credibility!
Meant to reply to
>music starts playing
youtube.com
>we'll be getting another soundtrack by Gareth Coker if a new Ori is actually getting made
I'm going into a cum coma just thinking about it
I am well aware what game it is, EYE has awful gunplay and terrible grindathon rpg mechanics!
At this point I think you might just have a fetish for horrendous translations!
Disgusting!
Lyin' user at it again, trying to avoid the real subject at hand! This dishonesty is amazing.
But E.Y.E. is pure shit in every aspect user. Including gameplay.
Why are you saying someone else has no credibility?
You can talk shit about Eye all you want, but it wont make it worse than Ori and the blind fanfuccbois.
I don't need to make it worse than Ori.
The developer themselves did it.
Just like Ori, eh?
How witty of you.
Rounding up the hat trick of awful with Drakengard! Embarrassing!
You really turned it around on him.
You know you need to be 18 to post on this board, right?
I fucking loved Ori, what's a good game similar to it? I really want to play something similar.
Tried axiom verge, couldn't get into it.
Nah, not really.
Developer of Ori didn't try biting of more than they can chew unlike Eye devs.
Ori does perfectly fine what it's supposed to do. Be a great platformer.
Eye on the other hand fails at literally everything it does.
