Not that the new one doesn't look kinda neat, but the original Prey with the same treatment they gave to Quake doesn't hold a candle to it.
Was the first Prey anything like that?
Oddly enough, other then some vague similarities with the story, nothing was the same. Makes me wonder why they used the name, seeings how it wasn't exactly a blockbuster game when it came out.
>Strangers Wrath in space
>good
The delusion is unreal. So glad it's more in line with the original game now.
I was bitter about Prey because it wasn't my space bounty hunter where I get to be not Harrison Ford. I'll probably never feel as good about the new game knowing it screwed me by just being born.
Is this what 20 year olds who get their girlfriends pregnant feel about the baby?
Damn. I really like the look of that demo and I've been having cravings for cyberpunk lately. Is Hard Reset any good, do you know?
Whats wrong with being a bounty hunter in a grimy, neon-lit city that looks like the Unreal engine?
this is what? the 6th time this has happened in 8 years?
Nothing. Bethesda shills out in full force because of "Prey" and Skyrim Remastered.
While I dydnt have strong feelings for prey 2 and felt it was overhyped from what we saw, the prey reboot is just system shock.
Just watch next year as those unfamiliar with system shock call Prey "Bioshock in space". I guarantee you at least two major news outlets will call it that.
Cyberpunk 2077 is still on its way OP.
Just from a business standpoint this was kind of an odd decision. The game looked pretty far along in development half a decade ago, and that demo still looks pretty impressive today despite coming out when the GTX480 was top of the line. And how many people played the original Prey? Compare that to the number of people who've watched Blade Runner, Cowboy Bebop, Firefly, and so on, who's dream game is pretty much just the words "space bounty hunter".
nothing. Other than it being super bland.
I trust my boys at Arkane to deliver a great game with good combat mechanics.
I think the truth is that Bethesda didn't want competition to Fallout with another sci-fi open world RPG. No company wants to be their own direct competitor, because no way that you cut it someone is going to complain one of your games isn't good.
The Prey trailer looks much better than the generic Prey 2 one.
WHO CARES
>it looked like shit
>it wasn't fucking Prey anymore
The reboot is FAR more like Prey than Prey 2 was
I might have dementia, but I don't remember Prey being a psychological horror with a rouge A.I. That sounds an awful lot like a different game though, but that's just me.
and yet Prey 2 looked FAR more fun than the reboot did.
Anyone who was hyped for Prey 2 wasn't hyped because it was another Prey game, they were hyped because of what was shown about it. People basically treated it like a new series.
They said it's an alien attack.
You're right, it was a spritiual horror game in space with aliens
Far more similar than a generic open world cyberpunk game.
What happened to Human Head sucks, but Prey 2 looked like boring shit
>LE CANNED PREY
they cancelled it because it was fucking shit
a vertical slice doesn't make a game good
You're actually calling the original Prey a horror game? Go back to bed user, you need more sleep, you're saying dumb things.
>they cancelled it because it was fucking shit
this
Where does all the love for Prey even come from? The first game was shit too. It was basically Doom 3
Nobody cares, Arkane Studio's iteration of the cult classic First Person Shooter already looks much better than that old garbage you posted.
agreed
>The reboot is FAR more like Prey than Prey 2 was
>Far more similar
And getting your ass ravaged by an angry nigger is closer to a fun night of sex than holding a pretty woman's hand. But other than being OP's favourite passtime, it's not something to be excited about.
It's Painkiller with a Blade Runner skin and worse gameplay. If you're after a deep cyberpunk first person thing (and isn't Deus Ex), EYE Divine Cybermancy might be a better way to go.
>You are the greatest bounty hunter on this side of the galaxy. Your mission? Use advanced alien technology to hunt your PREY 2™ DEFINITIVE EDITION and use your bounty to buy guns, vehicles, gadgets, etc.
kill me
Sounds about what I was expect, fair enough.
>EYE Divine Cybermancy
I have it actually. I was enjoying it, but the cryptic everything made it hard to get really into, I found myself worrying about every little decision I was making. I'll try and get back into it.
Bitter Human Head devs still in remorse that they chose to go bankrupt instead of continue making video games.
My legs are OK
I think more people have seen the trailer for 2 then have played the original.
To be fair other than the beginning I don't remember much from the original. Solid game but kind of forgettable. I do remember laughing when your grandfather scoffed at you for being a former soldier and calling it shite mans war and called battling the aliens Indian war or whatever.
Dunno why they thought everyone would be hyped for a reboot. I've heard the original be mentioned once on here in like seven years, and its not like Sup Forums is all modern AAA all the time. Seen more threads about the canceled 2 then I have about the original game.
New Quake
> Nothing like original (Quake 3: 2 electric boogaloo)
New Prey
> Nothing like anything
New Elder Scrolls game
> afuckingcardgame.png
Skyrim 'remaster'
> Mod support is selling point
> The 'remaster' is just a set of preinstalled mods
Can't wait for the new Evil Within
> 3rd person dating sim
> boxhead so kawaii
> a-am I pretty, Dova-kun?
Bethesda are approaching Apple levels of selling boxes of shit as fucking gold leaf.
Thanks, I feel better now, lads.
>Bitter Human Head devs still in remorse
Saddens me. They were basically made up of the best parts of Raven Software before Activision turned that company into a CoD DLC sausage factory.
Weren't Raven teasing something about Hexen?
Yeah DLC map for cod based on the series.
>this shilling again
>Bethesda shills in full force
Actually the story was loosely based off the original game,in fact tommy would have returned as mentor to main character in fact if you look at who's channel that video OP linked is from,it's from the level designer of HH's prey 2,nathan cheever he says "Bethesda Marketing said no one will identify with Tommy's spiritual Native American goals and he was too whiney in the first game. so they said forget Tommy and make the protagonist someone else. Tommy was in the game however, as a mentor and guide on Exodus. After Prey, he spent years tracking down the Keepers and found them pulling the political and power strings on the Planet Exodus. They were constructing a new Sphere. Not a Harvester like the one in Prey, but a War Sphere to go back to Earth and destroy it. You (the player) were going to help Tommy destroy that Sphere before it left the planet. One of the DLC could have been Tommy's story between Prey 1 and 2. But as you know now, it was more important for Bethesda to own the studio than finish Prey 2."
No wonder the marketing for DOOM was shit. Beth had to set aside a fortune to pay for all these shills.
>Tommy was going to be in it
They even had him (at least his back) fully rendered.
Yeah, Prey 2 would have been far more interesting than what we're getting.
I mean, if you want first person Dead Space, or even another System Shock, you'll probably be impressed by this rebooted Prey, but a hub world with active bounties to hunt for and missions to find in a cyberpunk setting is what I'd kill for.
Dues Ex?
i fucking hope this Prey will be in a way a prequel that leads to the Human Head Prey 2
I wish it would but it's pretty doubtful. Prey 2 had such a good looking world too.
...
The only thing the new one has over the old one is the option to play as a female character. Not that it's going to make me play it anyway, rather wait for the actual System Shock 3 instead.
>just a few weeks ago people were still in love with the idea of Prey 2
>reboot anounced
>"LOL WHO EVEN WANTED TO BE A SHITTY BOUNTY HUNTER FUCK PREY 2 MUH VERTICAL SLICES
I didn't even know that term existed until this parrot started pasting it in every prey thread since. It's no wonder how publishers get away with flat out lying to consumers when the consumer will literally eat anything given.
