I needed a door out of the console scene and MS is giving me a pretty convenient one. At this time in my life, console play just doesn't net the same experience as it used to.
the best part is it doesn't hurt the Xbox brand for those that are younger, because the console and PC markets really don't overlap much at all.

Its a smart play on microsofts part. They own the majority share of PC operating system usage and they realize that very few PC gamers also own or will ever buy an xbox.

But if you're comparing just the PS4 and X1, which the vast majority of consumers are, Xbox got a huge advantage today.

PC is the undisputed best platform and if you want a console to go alongside it, PS4 is now effectively the best choice for that.
That being said, if we take PC out of the picture and look at just the two consoles, the Xbone is now a better buy than the PS4

They are now just going to sell 3 nice compact windows 10 prebuilds optimized for family room use and keep the xbox name on them, while opening their playerbase to any person running windows 10 on their pc. Dedicated consoles have been dying and this is the perfect transition for ms.

No, because I built a PC years ago and with minor upgrades it's running almost everything flawlessly.
The only thing that bothers me is that if you are someone who wants to use the Xbox Live functionality don't you still have to pay for it regardless if it's on PC or not? That always steered me away from Xbox, Xbox Live costing money. On that note, Xbox-Live still is not free and never will be free.

I dont' care if the shit I play is on other systems or not. Among other things, I have Disgaea (PS2) Senran Kagura (PS Vita) Dead Rising 2 (Xbox 360) and Street Fighter V (PS4) on PC.
