>Near the beginning of the game you can choose to not accept the gift and you will get zero powers or abilities, no blink or any super-natural powers so you have to play the entire game without any supernatural abilities at all

Hype?

Yes

unless you're going to be compensated with something like a grappling hook I don't forsee it being very fun without the powers.

Honestly looks like one of the few sequels that does what a sequel should do; expand and develop their core mechanics.
Having both corvo and emily gives players two options, familiar and new to play with.

I won't be playing through with no supernatural powers because i like fun but its nice to have an option, especially in a stealth game where you can set challenges for yourself.

I stopped playing games after I played thief 2 straight through on expert while cranked on amphetamine.

I'm gonna finish dishonored and come back to play this now. fuck. yes.

>Thief isn't fun

Unless they implemented a legitimate climbing mechanic, no blink sounds shit.

don't you like a challenge, pussy? no powers stealth = best immersion.

good lord if the level design is big enough, we could be looking at thief 3 here.

Im thinking of how the levels were designed in Dishonored.

Obviously Thief was designed around your tools and moveset.

If you're designing a game around the Dishonored power set it's not going to be fun to do it without the powers.

Why the fuck would you not enjoy teleporting everywhere and having full freedom of movement therefore being OP and completely overwhelming your enemies, a feeling you will never ever have in real life, because after all you are talking about pixels in an anime imageboard?

>no source

Because a part of what make most stealth games fun is the challenge of staying in the shadows and prevailing over overwhelming odds. When you have superpowers that enable you to go trough the game without the tension of having to be clever and stay hidden, you might as well be playing an action game.

It's an action stealth game

With the opposing elements being in contradiction with one another, taken away from what would be a superior experience if they better focused on one aspect over the other, or added more aspects to the whole in order to offer a more varied RPG experience.
Basically, it exists somewhere in a vacuum in between Thief and Deus Ex without offering the satisfying experiences of either.

Real GOTY potential

That's really cool.

I hope the game isn't made any easier just to accommodate no power playthroughs.

I'm confused on how that would work with Corvo, who already has the gift.

>Say no
>Outsider rapes you
>Game over

Why would you play as anyone other than Corvo.

Works for Corvo too

I denied myself any powers on the first game and still found it easy as shit. On hard difficulty too, can't remember if there was a higher difficulty or not.

The mode without powers is obviously for the challenge after having already beaten the game.

Thief gives you the magic to become completely conceited in shadows and also gives you lot's of tools like the rope arrow.
Moron.

Corvo already got his powers though?

Doesn't me he can't give them back, because you know magic

what they showed of the emily's powers was pretty neat
i'm gonna play as both, of course

Maybe Corvo will denounce and insult the outsider who then takes his powers away, giving Corvo what he wants and fucking off.

Who else is going to get hit by enemies just so they can hear Emily moaning?

It could be it's just an option if you play as the girl

>completely conceited
>conceited

I'm picturing Garret in the corner looking at himself in a mirror feeling SO MUCH PRETTIER and SMARTER than all the npcs.

No, I dont get hyped for a trashy game that is essentially a paid mod for Skyrim.

>One of the first games biggest complaints was that you couldn't use all the cool powers because you'd get the bad ending and heavy handed ur evil dialog
>They are literally doing it again
They've learned nothing

I never used abilities in Dishonored anyway. Most of them are lethal offensive, and blink makes things too easy.
Maybe that's why I thought the first game was so boring.

This. It sucked doing no kill runs becaused youre locked outta using tons of cool shit

Most of the places in Dishonored 1 could be reach without blinking

then don't do no kill runs faggot, play the game your own way
>oooh but I'm being punished :(
literally stopping yourself from experiencing fun because you have videogame autism

Being able to kill people might not impact the story as much as it used to.

Hell, Deus Ex did it.

Is that his daughter from the last game?

>this means all the levels can be done without powers
>this means all the powers are effectively pointless
>this means the game might as well not be dishonored

HYPE HYPE HYPE. IM A FUCKING RETARD THAT THINKS SIMPLY TYPING 'HYPE' MEANS SOMETHING BECAUSE DANK MEMES VIRAL VIRAL VIRAL XD

yes. they confirmed that emilia was corvo's daughter.

Uh. You could still kill a decent number of people, like all the targets, and still end the game on low chaos. You didn't need to play a total pacifist to get the good ending, you just had to avoid killing those who had nothing to do with the greater conspiracy.

(you)

I hope they actually design the game around it though. A low chaos run where you would also use very little of the abilities and items you're given is boring as fuck in Dishonored 1.

yer

I like this a lot more than the first game of getting powers and just choosing not to use them. Might give you a nice moment of telling the Outsider to fuck off.

dishonored.wikia.com/wiki/Mostly_Flesh_and_Steel

i played through the first dishonored using no powers except blink for some achievement, and that was fun as fuck

they have to give you some movement tool despite giving up the powers though, because if not the game would just be a drag

>an actual hard mode
Fuck yes. I thought the game looked too easy but this pretty much mitigates that.

They admitted that the Low/High Chaos system was fucked and they're changing it for the sequel. There's also no indication that this completely optional decision will have any impact on the ending.

Keep being retarded.

Who here /corvohighchaosnopowers/ 1st run ?

It wasn't even as bad as people like to make it sound. If you believe these posters then you couldn't get the decent ending if you weren't a complete pacifist who didn't kill a single rat. You need to kill indiscriminately to get high chaos; a reflection of the fact that a mass killer is stalking the city. If you just off certain NPCs when you have to and assassinate all the main targets you can still end up with low chaos.

Fuck yeah, I love a good powerless run in Dishonored. How does it work with Corvo, though? Did he lose his powers or something?

me
emily's powers looks like shit with the exception of shadow beast thingy

>trips
>looses all his chozo upgrades
Typical stuff

Dishonored 2 is an alternate story to the first game where Daud never assassinated the Empress
She still died eventually though, but Emily is grown up and Corvo will meet the Outsider for the first time

What are you on about.

Wait, what?
Source?

He's taking you on a ruse cruise.

nice mikkelsen there

Oh shit, thats pretty awesome actually

Also that's why the antagonist of Daud's DLC isn't trapped in the void as a tree and is returning in the sequel. Alternate timeline, she lives on to harass Emily Kaldwin's rule.

thanks man

Well powers in the first game were only given to people the edgelord godkid found interesting. So maybe if Corvo stops doing revenge stuff it's reasonable he's no longer interesting and his powers get taken away until shit hits the fan again.

kek

so we're doing the AU now, huh? I guess that subverts the multiple endings problem. I wonder if we'll see what happened to the really minor characters.

If that's true than I most certainly will play that way.

I'm not a fucking pussy, and besides, Dishonored was too fucking easy even on hard mode.

Dishonored's stealth is too simple to be fun. Its literally just line of sight trash.

any multiplayer?

You probably only get the choice with the empress, or at least with Corvo you get to throw it back in his face and say you don't need his ass anymore.

Not exactly a stretch.

what are the pc requirements?

Probably pretty mild. The first game wasn't very heavy on the GPU or CPU for that matter since they went for a more stylised look that didn't rely on high polygon objects. It seems like they're doing the same thing here, but the requirements will obviously be higher. I wouldn't worry if I had a mid-low end computer at all.

MUH IMMERSION

shhhhh

>kill a shitton of people even though you didn't really need to kill most of them
>leave corpses in a city ravaged by a weird plague
>everything goes to shit and people call you a faggot for going full murderhobo
Wow, who could have thought?

>he's never beaten the first one without powers

>Hype?
no because the game is probably built around those powers and will make it worse if you don't choose to use them

>kill these zombie motherfuckers who are clearly dangerous to the normal populace and the few people who actively took part in the assassination of your waifu
>kid now ends up being a fucking cunt, boatman hates you for doing the world a favor because it's the current year, you shouldn't do baddy bad things :( love and tolerance above all

Woooow, who coulda hav thunk???

God damn that Mads looks so smug and sexy. When I hit 50+ years old I want to look as classy and badass as him.

>The gifts made the previous game too easy
>Instead of balancing them properly, we're going to allow you to ignore a care game design element so you can choose not to use it
>Modern game design
Why is this such a common thing now? I'm tired of having to ignore huge segments of the game because of how trivial it makes things. Even fucking shovel knight a 'difficult' game pulled this shit.

oh so you played dishonored 2? how is it?

Shut the fuck up you stupid faggot

You're an idiot. Did you miss the part of the trailer where Corvo has full blown timestop right in the prologue?

They haven't announced any major changes in the basic stealth so I assume its the same since the gameplay makes it look pretty much the same.

>actively took part
But you can murder the main figures of the conspiration without getting a bad ending.
You only get the shittiest ending if you go around murdering soldiers who don't have shit to do with your waifu's murder.

You can get the bad ending if you kill the zombies bruh

Only the main figures. If you only kill zombies and Daud's band of killers, all of them with your black magic shit that doesn't even leave corpses, you still get fucked for no reason at all. And it's handled so fucking bad. The boatman doesn't say anything before the very last mission, the kid has like one different line and a drawing becomes different. The story is just so fucking minimal, shitty and unsatisfying in a lot of ways.

>and heavy handed ur evil dialog
I forgave it for the bullshit a lil bit when I was allowed to stop time and shoot that nigga in the boat when he was gonna alert everyone.

which alerted everyone.

dishonored.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos

>It has been reported that, for high chaos to be achieved, Corvo or Daud must kill 20% of the human population per mission. If Corvo's total kills exceed 50% of the population seen in Dishonored, Dunwall is irrevocably thrown into chaos, and the high chaos ending is depicted. Variations on the totals seem to trigger minor differences between chaos levels in Dishonored, such as Samuel's behavior in The Light at the End.

That sounds really cool, I wonder if the story will change or at least address that if you play Emily completely without powers.

>fan wiki
>it has been reported

I'm now reporting to you that that is complete bullshit because I got the awfully written shit ending with what I said.

I never finished the game, I wanna start 2 new runs now. One where I go no-kill stealth and another where I go high chaos and use every power I got

Which should I do first?

Dishonored 1 sure as hell wasn't designed around its power set

Do the High Chaos one first, it's more easy and more fun.

Not without the enhanced jump they couldn't.

>watching Hannibal right now
How can one man be this handsome?
Not even gay like the rest of you, but damn.

Recently did a no powers, no starting bling, no charms playthrough and the fact they're like 3 freaking obligatory blinks made it feel kinda silly. If they've work this well it'll be really nice to see developers actually hearing players complaints and all.
So far looks great, room for limited-play, power-play, probably even greater replayability than the first one, so yeah, ticket to the hype train...

Dishonored 1 isn't designed around powers. You can beat the first one on hardest difficulty without anything except for Blink in the tutorial and once in a specific mission. It becomes a much more interesting game, played that way.
