Not true. First of all you need phials to boost axe damage, if you're attacking without boost, you're using CB wrong. And you only need to land the energy blade once when there's a sufficient opening, instead of literally chasing the tail in axe mode while the monster prances around.
I really don't like this whole special attack stuff. They are kinda annoying to hit a many don't feel they have a big impact when they do. The idea of ar is cool but it just feels kinda wonky compared to toukiden 2 or freedom wars. Those games also remind me of how many more options a hunting game can have

GS has been THE overpowered shitter weapon for ages, and nobody called it out.
They will still call CB a meme weapon.
HH is now rewarded by actually hitting the monster with your notes.
Forgot the technical name for it, but if you hit a monster with every note in the song, and play it, it refreshes your previous song and plays the one you queued
It's not even energy blade. It's the removal of the instant AED from sword mode, and the inability to red-charge from sword mode.
I understand that Capcom did this to make the AED less spammable and overall less broken, but they already nerfed it considerably by making super-AED one explosion instead of multiple quakes. The removal of sword->AED mechanics just makes CB clunkier and less fun to use.
I also agree with this. According to mhg, flinches in this game are toned down considerably to prevent looping monsters through flinches and staggers. This also means that your super flashy special attack that takes forever to do and has huge recovery time more than likely won't even faze a monster. And that feels shitty.
Hopefully, massive damage to weakpoints will still result in insta-staggers/flinches, because GOTCHA BITCH is literally the most fun part of hunting with big weapons.

GS brings only one thing to a group, the big dick damage.
CB or IG on the other hand, brings damage and CC ( impact CB and on-demand mount by IG )

Actually it's BEFORE you're attacked. It works a bit different than the regular rolls. If you do that at the very last moment like you usually should, you actually DON'T get i-frames with bushido style.

You mean striker style, but thats just a weapon art that needs charging. it unlimited like adpet style. and i can activate the the counterdodge as soon as i press the dodge button when im attacked, it does give you leeway if you're late if thats what you're talking about

No, I mean bushido style, stop putting words in my mouth. I played MHX long enough to know what I'm talking about. Bushidodge iframes don't start at the very beginning of the animation, like the regular dodge. There's a tiny start-up window after the roll button press in which you can get hit. But with bushido you usually don't notice it, because you don't have to time your rolls nearly as precisely as without it.
I barely used it because the starting skills werent worth it.

Haven't tried out lance yet, I heard adept Lance is godly if you can time it right.
These styles seem to fuck up effective play styles rather than give new just as good ones

Striker style is pretty basic.
The perfect guard counter is stupid powerful, it just takes some getting used to before you can get really effective with it
It's the same thing with CB, for all the cries of getting nerfed it's still quite strong once you adjust to the changes
On SnS I've found use for the Aerial style on high mobility mons.
Otherwise Guild seems best, Striker is like guild with higher DPS but no charge hit, but SnS charge hit on Guild style is important: its use allows you to infinitely combo and gives a free dodge. Why would I want to trade that for shorter combos, less mobility, some dmg+ and a dodge supermove? May as well stick with Guild.
That charge is not so useful to super finicky mobs like Narga so then I have a reason to just go Aerial and start dark-souls flipping all over the god damn fight.
They also almost halved all the phial attacks motion values.
