How does Sup Forums feel about this shit?

I thought it looked like a sequel to Dirge of Cerberus when it was first announced. Then it turned into a Backstreet Boys adventure game. And ever since then, it just looks even more like a Backstreet Boys road trip.
Also, FF is the one series where having an open world will hurt it. Prepare for a linear game with a lot of empty space you have to drive over.
The character designs are more than enough to make me never go anywhere near the game
It's so empty they made the car into a plane so you could skip it all.
And then you get to view the amazingly shit world in all it's breadth.
Damm what is this looks great ?
The game never looked good in any instance at any given time.
I feel like the world looks HUGE, but they haven't shown anything that would make me feel like it's not just a huge barren wasteland that separates quests by 15 minutes, instead of just a small area or loading screen.
I fuck off the moment they announce that we have to play as these gay dudes for the whole fucking game. Also, JRPG without any girls in the party...Yeah, fuck off Tabata.
I'll just play my witcher 3 at this point.
The thing that annoys me the most about FF games as a whole is how empty they are. I mean, look at all the detail in that city. But its only the buildings. When you actually go into the city, there will be a handful of NPCs, most of which have nothing important to say, and you can only go into two of the 50 buildings. Also, millions of crates, barrels, pots and etc, but you can't search any of them. And it really doesn't take any energy to make objects searchable. You can do it in 5 seconds in RPG Maker, let alone a monster engine like this.
Basically, FF can keep making things look amazing as they want. But it serves no purpose in 'gameplay'.
Should have come out last gen, since there was no Kingdom Hearts game on consoles back then. Now its coming out a year before KH3.
What do those barrels contain outside random worthless materials used for practically nothing that will put your OCD into overdrive looting it all? That is how it is for western open world games, just a bunch of useless shit in boxes and barrels.
Dragon Quest games and (early) FF games have actual useful items in objects. Basically, if you explore everything, you have to spend less gold on buying items at a shop. And in the case of Dragon Quest, get a lot of free gear. This in turn cuts down on grinding for gold or EXP. And is a plus for people who like to search for items.
Of course, modern FF games are so easy, you don't even need free items. But it would still be better than having a totally empty city like in FFX and XII.
>Retard
They already said there will be numerous Unique NPCs with quests. There are monster hunts with in the town, colosseum, bars, resturaunts to teach ignis how to cook.
Have you even play lightning returns, shit on it all you want the towns were crowded Yusnaan specifically.
Except for the waterfalls, which you are not really meant to look at in a still image, this looks perfectly fine for a console game. Sure, not exactly breathtaking but Birds fly, water is wet and open world games have ugly LOD and probably will have for a pretty long time,
Numerous meaning a couple. Don't kid yourself.
>The character designs are more than enough to make me never go anywhere near the game
Same here
That isn't the LOD though, haven't you played either demos? The textures are just beyond terrible.
Shadows don't line up with objects far away either.
The redid the Titan battle in the Square Enix stream with a different build of the demo.
FFXIV also has numerous NPC quests. In fact, that's all the game is. Talk to NPC, get fetch quest, do quest, return to NPC. Repeat 500 times. It get so bad, you even have to travel across the whole world, complete one quest, then return to the Waking Sands before you can get a new quest.
That's shitty NPC interaction. And lacks any exploration. Which means, an open world is pointless.
I dunno, maybe I just play too many old games but my standard for what looks good are probably comparatively low.
Here's a clip from it.
>Have you even play lightning returns, shit on it all you want the towns were crowded Yusnaan specifically.
Towns were also crowded in FFX and XII. But of the 50 NPCs in a town, most of them would just say stupid stuff like 'I like Blitzball!' or 'I'm here with my daughter to watch Blitzball!' Making it so only two out of fifty NPCs had anything meaningful to say or a quest to give. Three if you count one NPC to recruit for blitzball.
Typical weaboo loli loving peso scum
...
>Comparing an MMO to a single player JRPG
user...
He makes a good point though they're both FF.
Combat doesn't look as engaging as I thought
Not feeling the dub but I can live with that
When I say crowded I meant you had a bunch of quests plus board quests.
>INB4 Muh fetch quests
What the fuck do you want thats age old rpg quests even witcher 3 and FFXII have them.
Not him but what he's saying is quality is better than quantity.
Making a FF game open world isn't doing it any favors, the game will just feel unfinished and dead.
Have they uploaded it somewhere already?
This. I'd rather have 5 NPCs, each one having a point in the story or a major quest, than 5 detailed NPCs and 45 pointless ones. It goes for any game. A major reason Skyrim is so horrible is because of all the pointless NPCs. And they didn't even make the towns feel more alive. You had a handful of NPCs AND they sucked. FF has the same problem.
It's still bad, he just abuses mechanics now.
demo player was shit
youtube.com
Tabata directly said in the Game informer interview that the game isn't bloated like The Witcher 3 tho.
Personally after playing Duscae I can see myself just walking in fields killing monsters endlessly and learning combos with the over 30 weapon category
I don't know why you're talking about NPCs though, I don't think anyone cares as long as you can talk to all of them. That's almost as fun as finding treasures.
But in general the bigger your world the more you have to put in it if you want it to feel amazing. This game is fucking huge yet we know they didn't put that much in it.
So....
TW3 isn't bloated so what the fuck is he talking about? That game suffered from a lack of content too.
Fuck me, is it not his job to not make the game look bad?
Also, the framerate looked kinda iffy when I saw it. Was it the stream or the game that was ass?
But it is, there are a lot of pointless quests in that game.
Like what?
The only quests that should really be important are the contract ones. MFW they have tutorial "quests"
Even if the whole game is shit
The world will be a joy to explore
Look at this town
>But it is, there are a lot of pointless quests in that game.
Are they optional? Because that's just a side quest. Bloated would be like Skyrim, where 99% of all the quests are optional.
I only remember contracts to kill shit or do investigations and they had decent writing. Outside of notice boards and the main quest though there was jack shit to do.
FFXV has fetch quests and minigames and it doesn't seem like much else?
Or AC games.
Are you really calling out a town of that size for a downgrade?
Do you know how mental it is that the whole city is explorable and interactable and full of life
If they rendered it in 240p
Id still love every second
Exploration isn't fun if there's nothing to find.
For all the bitching and moaning I've seen towards this game, we all know it's going to sell and be successful. Personally, I think the game looks and plays like shit but hey, what do I know?
Underbaited roast
FFXV looks amazing to me. The Xbone demo looked bad but be fair, the player was terrible. Still, the boss fight didn't look good.
The one complaint I don't understand is the one about the character designs. They are way better than recent FF designs.
>The one complaint I don't understand is the one about the character designs. They are way better than recent FF designs.
You have to be a faggot to appreciate them.
>That Xbone demo made the game look fucking awful
Almost everything else they've shown so far's made up for that IMO.
They're being developed by different teams though.
the characters design complaints are low bearing fruit and the only people who would complain about them have sexual insecurity issues like this guy
>FFXV looks amazing to me. The Xbone demo looked bad but be fair, the player was terrible. Still, the boss fight didn't look good.
So..it doesn't look amazing?
>The one complaint I don't understand is the one about the character designs. They are way better than recent FF designs.
Every single character looks like they should be in a Japanese boy band. Except one token girl. Its Nomura's dream game. Made for girls and homosexual men.
>that fucking image again
The top 2 shots are blatantly from a prerendered cutscene, at least use shots from the gameplay sections of the E3 2013 trailer if you're gonna make comparisons.
Allegedly the MS conference demo was an older build of the game, no idea who exactly said that though.
The bottom one looks like shit.
I agree with the "plays like shit" part.
Combat felt terrible, despite it looking really fun in trailers.
Really put me off buying the game.
I have low expectations for this game, but I'll wait until its out to make an official judgement. But I'm not going to buy a PS4 for this game. I'm only going to get a PS4 if we get Dragon Quest X and XI. So if SquareEnix wants me to buy FFXV, they need to release the DQ games first.
If you think so, sure, but whoever made that image is a retard regardless.
I'm still buying day 1. If it sucks I will just sell it back for $40 or more. $20 isn't that big of a deal.
But that's really all a FF game needs to do. The majority of people buy FF games based on the hype generated from trailers. If it 'looks good', that's all it needs.
I don't agree, but that's how FF has always sold. On its graphics and visual designs.
Top is PC edition, middle is PS4, and bottom is Xbox One.
>comparing the exact same area is retarded
In what way?
We get it, you're mad that the game was downgraded.
Move along.
They told us that top two were from the in-game engine a while back though. They said that there were no pre-rendered cutscenes either.
Yeah, I think it will be successful and people will eat it up but that doesn't necessarily make it a good game.
>The top 2 shots are blatantly from a prerendered cutscene, at least use shots from the gameplay sections of the E3 2013 trailer if you're gonna make comparisons.
No it was PC > PC downgraded > PS4
>They said that there were no pre-rendered cutscenes either.
I thought they said there would be less than in previous games, not none altogether.
Just played the platinum demo, did the dodge-rolling and camera feel clunky to anyone else?
I like it.
The platinum demo didn't disappoint me for what it was, and driving around felt pretty good. I just hope the road has location worth visiting, that the combat has a more steady framerate and that it becomes more complex than what we saw in the demo.
As long as the story isn't offensively terrible, I think this game could be an 8/10, and that's fine by me.
Me too. The textures were terrible too.
Because the top 2 are clearly from a pre-rendered cutscene and by extension are not actually representative of what you get in-game?
> They said that there were no pre-rendered cutscenes either.
That's funny considering almost every single major trailer for the game has had some kind of CG cutscene included. Pretty certain they never said either of the top shots of Altissia were ingame either.
But they aren't. According to SE it was in-game.
>the whole city is explorable and interactable and full of life
I'm so fucking excited holy shit
>Do you know how mental it is that the whole city is explorable and interactable and full of life
It isn't.
I'm pretty sure all of the old CG is going to be missing from the game.
Imagine FFXV with amano's design for everything. Like a 90's high fantasy anime but inside the FFXV engine, god that would be a million times better.
How do you know? I feel like there's so much bullshit surrounding this game and Squenix can't properly market or properly develop a game to save their fucking nip lives.
At least it'll have dual audio
Because there isn' parkour and you can only interact with NPCs and shops? Parts of the city seem like they'll be locked off too.
>every character looks like a unisex vampire
We already got that with FFIV DS. Wasn't anything special. In fact, the best looking characters in FFIV DS were young Rydia, Palom and Porom. Because they didn't look like Amano's bland style. They had actual facial expressions and character.
>this guy
Thank god because I'm so fucking tired of weebs talking about dual audio.
you would scream "FAG" at it like now
>Sup Forums is one person
Like a virus this board latches onto a meme & would just yell fag at it to death.
Not trying to talk shit about the game, but what is going on with the reflections?
Consolitis. The fade in and out in motion, it's fucked.
The xbone demo was clearly the man fucking up. I swear to god anyone saying that wasn't completely his fault is an idiot because if that was gameplay of some Joe on YouTube playing people would be saying how shitty he is.
That being said everything they've shown after has looked good. The car looks awesome, world looks beautiful, and the gameplay has 3 modes with all look viable. The cities are detailed and pretty big too, it's too late to get off this train I'm getting it day 1.
>Consolitis
From what i've seen from other console games, reflections in the water aren't a rare thing to see. Is it really that taxing?
FFIV looks nothing like amano's art. What are you even talking about?
I'm not that guy and I love androgynous shit so there's that.
You see? we get backstreet boys because of the steroid ridden semen-drenched-knuckle draggers like the ones you see on Sup Forums hegenomize gayming asking for games where they can see anime girl's panties and muscular bearded guys.
I'll never have anything pretty because of people like those untasteful neandertals :(
Square-Enix can't optimize worth shit.
Some games use a technique to just mirror the visible scenery above the water as a reflection. This is pretty cheap. Witcher 3 is an example, it will only reflect if you actually look at the scenery, if you pan the camera upwards so you see the water from above it's completely flat.
FFXV seems to use the more advanced form of reflection where it renders the scene twice from a different angle to give a more accurate and technically better reflection. Problem is it's taxing and they have to skip out on rendering certain objects in the reflection.
>FFIV looks nothing like amano's art. What are you even talking about?
The remake specifically tried to recreate Amano's original designs. Right down to the crazy clown outfits.
I know what you mean with the witcher 3 example, is there a reason that FFXV doesn't do reflections of structures and object on the borders of the screen?
...
I just hope at least one antagonist gets really angry at how much I've grinded all game, then transforms into some amazing beast, and then explodes violently after I kill him in 6minutes flat.
Chibi 3 polygon characters filled with bright colors have nothing to do with amano's art.
Stupid.
The game will at least be good.
Depending on how much optimization they get done until release and how good the content we haven't seen yet is it could also easily be a great game.
The Titan battle will still suck in the full game but as long as the remaining battles are fun I don't really mind
Because as I said it doesn't just mirror whatever is visible on the screen at the moment, it actually renders the city twice (which it does not for witcher). This is evident by the fact that you can't see the rooftops in the water but you can on the actual buildings.
So it just uses the regular tricks to save performance for big environments: add gradual fog and flat out don't render far off objects
>art only counts if it looks like what I want it to look like
>calling other people retarded
The FFIV models actually look better than Amano's designs. I mean just look at the image you posted. The perspective is horrid, the main character is looking at the viewer while everything else is angled. It looks like a greek fresco from 500 BC.
You sure are dense.
Amano's art portrays slender, stylized, tragical figures, very curvy patterns and very subtle use of color.
If FFIV does look like that at all to you then you're hopeless.
Having such renascentist categories to look at art in 2016 is really stupid.
You're 600 years behind everyone else.
