Sell me FFXIV

I wanna get this game, but I don't know if it's worth it to be honest. Kinda turned off by the monthly sub as well.

Its fun.

As some one who played nothing but WoW and other MMOs to just stop playing it this one takes the cake

Everything about it besides 2.5 GCD is great.

>Everything about it besides 2.5 GCD is great.

Would you recommend it as my first MMO?

And what system do you think is the best to play it on?

What's your email address? I'll send you a copy fo free

Piss off. Sup Forums should stop playing this game. The community is toxic enough as is without you fucking retards.

PC, though PS4 works fine. However, do not under any circumstances play on PS3. You will be in for a bad time. And considering that they announced plans to increase inventory space for the next expansion, that pretty much confirms that they'll be dropping PS3 support for 4.0.

PS4 player here. I'd probably recommend PC, but with a controller. I just got a new PC that isn't a toaster, and I am tempted to get that version one of these days.

Oh shit are you serious? It's:
[email protected]

Thank you so much user-kun

Sadly, it's still one of the better ones except for nearly dead games like LoTRO, TSW, and STO.

It's got good aesthetics overall, pleasant soundtrack and a comfy story that gradually gets better as it goes.

Sidequests are a gamble, most are pretty dull but then you get a rare few that are actually really fucking good but since you may just be clicking away as usual you'll skip right past them.

Gameplay-wise, it starts out simple and gets complex towards the end. Complex =/= difficult, the only difficulty really is finding people who can match your skill level as the community is truly filled with drooling, mostly pleasant mind you, idiots.

Avoid Balmug.

Not OP.
Do I actually need to interact with other players, or can I solo just about anything worthwhile?
I don't want to team up with some random cunt who can't stop spouting memes and faggotry.

It's an MMO. Understand that this means every other aspect of the gameplay is not as good as it could have been if it wasn't an MMO. This includes gameplay, graphics, storytelling, etc.

If you want to play an MMO and you understand what sacrifices are made in MMOs then FFXIV is really good. If you don't want to play an MMO, then you'd be better off playing something else.

Balmung is fine. Just avoid /vg/ and the Quicksand.

That said, Balmung is already overcrowded and really doesn't need any more people. Unless you're actually interested in RP (actual RP, not text fucking), do everyone a favor and play somewhere else.

Who else got and used their maid glamor code emailed today?

I'd post screencaps but I'm not subbed at the moment.

It's a theme park MMO but it's relatively well done.

Oh yeah that also brings up the question, what server should I play on? I kinda want to be on one with the highest population even though I'm pretty antisocial. Doesn't make sense I know but idc

And is having alts good? I wanted to have a dps and a healer on one account. What would be good race combos for them? And is being a dps frowned upon since there's so many?

Sorry for all of the questions lol

>Unless you're actually interested in RP (actual RP, not text fucking)

If you're interested in actual RP you'd best stay off Balmung.

Alts make no sense in FFXIV. Every character can be every class, though each one needs to be leveled individually.

Race choice doesn't really matter, it's all visual.

Sent ;^)

Avoid alts, you can do literally everything with a single character. DPSes suffer from longer queues. Races impact so very little on stats you're much better off picking one you really like.

Leviathan is breddy gud from personal experience. I barely interact with people and all my interactions have been civil and pleasant and people seem focused on playing the game instead of fucking about.

You're honestly better off rolling on a mid-populated server like Excalibur, Hyperion, or Sargatanas. Only if you really get into the game and decide later on that you really want to try endgame raiding should you maybe consider transferring if necessary.

Thank you so much once again! I really can't say enough how much I appreciate it

If you have a second character then you need to go through the entire main story quest again. The game is really intended for you to only have one character, it's like playing a single player game.

Also, leveling a second class on one character is made easier because you get a huge exp bonus (I believe it's 2x up to level 50). Making a new character will lose this bonus.

Thanks!

How easy is it to transfer?

There's plenty of great RP to be found in FC's around Balmung. You'd know if you took the time to pull whatever /xivg/ ebin's girlcock you're sucking out of your mouth and look.

I played on Cactuar before transferring to Balmung.

Balmung is much more alive. It has this weird reputation as ERP hell thanks to /xivg/ but it's really cool seeing huge groups of players in every location doing stuff.
For instance Uldah is completely dead on Cactuar but on Balmung it's this crowded capital city.
Costa Del Sol is little more than a dead quest hub pitstop you stop off at on your MSQ, but on Balmung there's almost always little events going on there.

Well, having an alt does give some bonus. You can specialize in 6 crafts, you can gather from hidden nodes twice if you time it properly, and you don't have to worry as much with weekly lockouts and which class to gear first.

Also they don't delete your character after you haven't subbed for a while right?

One last question, what classes are everyone's favorite to play as?

I'm thinking about going SCH but I might roll BLM or WHM

Although it's not the same, if you wanted to you could have one of your retainers be the character you had in mind you didn't play as. Like you could play as a qt catgirl and have a manly servant off doing errands or selling items on the market for you, or you could have the reverse. It's up to you. I'm not sure if that satisfies your itch but it does for me.

MMOs tend not to delete characters in general, hell my Runescape account is still around. I doubt FFXIV is any different.

I want to contribute to the group, should I play a Dragoon, Bard, Machinist or Ninja? I heard all of them have their own things they add to a group.

That sounds like a great idea!
I appreciate it :]

They don't delete your character, but your retainers (servants) will become inactive from selling your shit on the market and you'll lose your house and the land it's on after a period of time.

>BLM
Don't do that.
SCH is the most fun Healer in the game probably so I'd go with that. You'll have to level up a DPS class first (Arcanist) though + reach level 15 with Conjurer, the base version of WHM.

Also I'm a liar, another question, how easy is it to become a trap in this game?

It's shit, that's the sale pitch. 300k retards currently love eating shit and 5 million ate shit at one point.

Haha yeah, 'great' RP. A bunch of teens trying to out-edge each other, playing 'mercs' or pirates or thieves. About the only decent idea I've even seen there is a circus, and after going to see them once they're -fucking awful-.

God and everyone just stands around talking about shit instead of doing anything. No wonder I quit trying to find RP years ago.

That's fine! What's wrong with African-American Mages btw?

It's mediocre, but what can you expect from an MMO I guess.

Not really. Running dungeons/trials/raids and all that you have to do it with other people. Most won't talk to you though outside of saying hello, thank you, and god fucking damn it when they die. FFXIV communiy is very silent outside of new content. If the party wipes someone might speak up about mechanics.

You can DPS as a Healer for when your brain dead team mates decide to fuck off in a corner and jerk it

They're EXTREMELY boring throughout and only get mildly interesting at max levels.
They deal a fuckton of damage though, so if you don't mind pressing the same three keys over and over just to see big numbers on your screen then go for it.

Okay, I might consider it when I have the time. Lots of JRPGs coming out in the latter half of this year/early 2017 though, so I don't think I'll really have time for it.
Does it actually feel like FF?

Please Respond

That sounds fun as fuck.
I was interested in transferring there but I think I'll finally go for it now.
Does the server need to be open to transfer your character?

How good is AST?

>implying
BLM's level 60 rotation is exponentially more interesting than the level 50 rotation.

Got mine the day they were available

No, it feels like the generic shit WoW clone it is.

there is a fucking trial for it,why dont you faggots ever bother to look that up

Thats not a good thing at all user, game really does feel like a single player mmo.

Gear up both Bard and Machinist and be a switch hitter for your group

switch hitter?

And you can go to level 35 now too. No reason to not try that first to save yourself 2 weeks.

Btw peeps, what class would you say is the most fun? Im currently playing WAR but I think tanking is kind of a braindead job, I kind of want to switch to a dps role, already played healer and its alot of stress and not in a good way.

How did you get that outfit?!?

You must be fun at parties c;

Can you make money off Fisher and if so, how?

You can fill either role depending on what is needed for the particular dungeon/raid/hunt/whatever.

I used to play in what was known as a hardcore raiding FC and it was pretty much required to be proficient in two or more classes. It's not particularly hard either, and it makes you a valuable asset.

i'm very fun at parties,i also know how to look up info for games im interested too you large faggot

also that outfit is available via a amazon promo where you have to spend at least 20 bucks on certain items

There's also going to be deep dungeon in the next patch, where you can go all the way up to level 60 in

...

i main ninja and i've thought it was fun HW made it better though it's not something to play if you have shit internet

Best MMO I ever played. I'm on Hiatus right now, but I want to play it every day. Has a little something for everyone, From casual as fuck dressing up to hardcore endgame raiding. Just find people interested in what you are.

Go with one of the melee DPS. Don't mess with the casters or at range if you don't like healing.

Thanks :D

That's pretty dumb though that you pay for a game, then pay for a monthly subscription, then you have to pay for clothes/certain items :/

what level are you
war is fun as fuck

the promo here is a lot better than what they had to do in japan, also stop emoting you shit posting faggot

It's only fun if you have friends to play.

Combat is absolute garbage and completely out of date shit.

Visuals are really fucking good.

Character customization is trash.

Stories are really fucking good.

I think user-kun might have a crush on me >///<

I don't know how to deal with tsunderes....

If you like autistic crafting as 90% of your endgame, it's the game for you.

...

2.X crafting was fine. 3.X makes me want to kill myself.

Make sure when you install you go to the bahamut server. You faggots will fit right in there.

Oh man ninja looks way to much fun, problem is im a Roe and i think it would look kind of dumb with my race.

I did like healing, it was just stressful though, mages do bore me to tears, I was actualling thinking about MCH, would go with monk but half of their skills look like extremely over the top anime shit to me. DRG looks cool as fuck but lancer is incredibly boring at low lvls, I wish i could play ninja but same reason as above.

Yeah i heard, im 51, so I have yet to unlock dps stance or feel cleave, I hear once you get that you never want to play anything else.

As far as MMOs goes, it's probably the highest quality and best one on the market right now.

But it's still a MMO so it's still not actually a good game.

>tfw want to get back into it becuase I genuinely love Final Fantasy and it's lore
>don't feel like buying an expansion and paying for a month

If there was a deal for a expansion and a month, I'd do it but ehhhh.

You could definitely get a couple months play out of FFXIV. It just doesn't keep my attention like it did the first few weeks. Maybe I'm spoiled by FFXI, but it just doesn't grab me and hold me in that world. Endgame is also a snoozefest.

More like:
>Actual Healer
"First time healing and first time here but I watched a guide"
*AFK FOLLOW WITH BUTTERFLY*

It's a meme you dips

And to everyone I appreciate the help!

>Decide to do leveling roulette as a tank for once
>Swap over to DRK and queue up
>Halfway to the first boss I begin to realize
>I haven't tanked in 3 months
>I haven't done the Library in 6 months
>The Library is a level 59 dungeon
>I powerleveled my DRK
>Half my gear is vendor greys

I have become the cancer and I am so, so sorry.

tfw I'm one of the faggots that find pld more fun than war
Leveling for Mercy Stroke was a chore

People keep telling me not to pull as a healer in low level dungeons even though I can keep anyone alive and literally nothing in them is threatening.
Am I being a dick or something, the tanks are always just so slow to do anything

Anyone play SMN? What are your hotkeys?

Ignore the retard tanks and keep pulling until they get the message to hurry the fuck up, you're correct, nothing in 4 mans hits for damage worth being afraid of.
I do it on NIN all the time and can tank just fine at 60.

You'll find decent tanks that keep a brisk pace eventually, but they're kinda rare.

It's only really a problem if people start dying.

Slow tanks can fuck right off. But if people start dying because you pulled early, you're entirely responsible.

>tfw love the FF aesthetic and the artstyle of the game
>want to get back into it
>know I will hate the game 2 weeks intp my resub
>rolled on a dead server anyway

I've been hopping from MMO to MMO lately with no luck. The only MMO with combat I liked is wildstar but the healer queues are like 2-3 hours long for the first few dungeons. I would maybe like the game if I rolled on a lively server but I rather suck 10 dicks than start over and get to HW.

What do?

switch servers, playing an mmo alone is the dumbest thing you can do

>Tank pulls 3 groups
>It's sastasha
>We have literally no one that can do AoE damage
>I can't even contribute anymore because this fuckhole is taking so much fucking damage

EN>LL
Followed by
F3>F4>F4>F1>F4>B3>B4 on repeat isn't super interesting.

>3 F4s
>buffs before F3
>hardcasting your first F3
jesus fuck
don't tell people to do that please

>that rotation

Wow are you one of those BLM that actually manages to do under 1k dps?

You almost never run out of things to do but you will burn out of the formula fast.

Is there anyway to get the game for reduced price? I'm really enjoying my trial time, but WoW has WoD rolled in now and I have the battlechest which I picked up for 5 bucks. It seems pretty steep to dump 60 into FFxiv rather than just sub wow and plya with a friend who alreayd plays.

It's definitely rude as shit and absolutely grounds to kick you, doesn't really matter how shit the tank is

I got it to 60 recently. Not to bad at max but God damn was it a snooze fest to level. I did actually almost fall asleep doing leveling roulette a few times after getting off work.

Suck those 10 dicks to get the money for a transfer

Slow tank detected
Sorry you lose your special snowflake status when we do everything without you :^(

I votekick retards like you anyway

Nah I always pull until the healer starts crying

But if you're making a tanks job harder by pulling, and if he's an already bad tank you're just making a bad run even shittier

>Expecting healers to DPS

How about just pulling more you fucking shit? I ain't there to kill the monsters for you.
