Fast flashy action can be fun. If you don't like that, look elsewhere.

Its flashy and has a different combat system than most action games.

They used to make good games, so there's hope that they might start to again (they won't).

youtube.com/watch?v=ivVUIUnbIBE

This is not good enough for you faggots.
I think you guys can just go an hero immediately

Man, I do miss God Hand. Their current stuff just doesn't click with me.

Fast pace and silliness.

They make no pretensions about making the same kind of cinematic artistic BS being put out today, instead excelling on action game systems that offer obscene amounts of depth and replayability. Bayonetta offers near-DMC levels of combo development, and Vanquish's eschewing of cover oriented shooting for the sake of balancing accuracy with high speed movement made it easily the best TPS last gen. Everything else they've made is varying degrees of enjoyable maybe not Madworld, but it had more style and flash than the games that actually try for that nowadays.

It's just Bayonetta with slightly better normal movement/jumping.

Still not nearly as good as anything they made while they were still Clover. Except maybe that VJ Smash rip-off.

no pretensions about not* making

Cheap labor that shits out reasonably decent games that you could sell for almost full price

funky action game

High skill ceiling for single player games, rewards for perfection

combat design and polish
fast action that makes you react to incoming threats dodge them get some hits creating an exhilarating feeling

that looks fun af

>They make no pretensions about making the same kind of cinematic artistic BS being put out today

Inaba during his speech on GDC said as much:

> *some* developers think that game are not supposed to be fun... i don't think so...

gdcvault.com/play/1023581/Action-Games-Without-Borders-Making

Kamiya and Mikami. But Mikami left, so just Kamiya.

Still triggers me that newfags think Kamiya is the CEO and works on every game, or that he's not allowed to make something that isn't Bayonetta with a different skin a la most things platinum has made

>posts the only platinum game almost as bad as ninja turtles

>I was too casual to get used to the controls the post

The shit pushed by Kamiya aside, the combat was pretty good. And no one can hate that final boss either.

W101 > Bayonetta > Vanquish > Bayonetta 2 > Mad World > MGR > Transformers > Korra > TMNT > Anarchy Reigns

So far nier looks like another MGR and Scalebound is more of an RPG adventure thing over action. Both should be ok though, but Platinum really needs to diversify their genres. Make a racing game, RTS, something else like Vanquish did and Scalebound is attempting to do.

Deep, fast paced combat, and challenging gameplay. That's all one really needs to say.

>really needs to diversify their genres
I'd agree with this if they weren't pretty much the only company making worthwhile games of this kind.

>amazing story
>amazing gameplay
>amazing music
>amazing art

They could've picked anyone to develop this game and yet they made the right AND the smart choice.

Well, this was one of their first games.

If you finished the game, you wouldn't post stupid shit like this.

They're kind of forced to do so because of their reputation though, and I think that squanders the talent somewhat.

But whatever pays the bills I guess

>there will never be a 60 FPS Vanquish

I'd buy a PS4K/Scorpio/whatever, just please give it to me already Sega.

NieR has some genre shifts if you want to see Platinum trying different things.

I entirely forgot about that. Didn't they only work on it as much as they worked on the new Star Fox, or am I wrong?

nobody is asking Obsidian to make racing game
nobody is asking Bungie to make RTS

These studios don't even produce multiple games on yearly basis and hasn't deviated from their niche for decades now

While Platinum does and even still diverges with occasional Scalebound and Vanquish

Flashy fun
Expects you to learn the game and don't handhold you.

It still boggles my mind that SEGA hasn't tried to innovate their huge library of games that they haven't touched, same thing with Capcom. I think it's because they fear losing money from it and the fact that reviewers are so shit with video games that they'll shit on any game that they aren't good at (The Wonderful 101 and Lost Planet 2 for starters).

>swords floating almost a whole foot behind their back

The one thing that bothers me

Sega, Capcom, and especially Konami have squandered some fucking fantastic IPs. It gets frustrating to think about.

Fun games. Went downhill with Korra, Star Fox, TMNT, and Scalebound. Hopefully Nier redeems them.

Treasure (the company I see them compared the most to) didn't really diversify their style that much, either--shooters and platformers were pretty in line with their usual action games more than a hypothetical Platinum RTS or racing game would be. Maybe it doesn't need to be a straight character action game next time, but I think the rule changes between Bayo, W101, and Anarchy Reigns make them unique enough experiences.

Of course, if they want to make one of them, then of course I'd prefer that--they shouldn't be squandered on something they don't want to do. But I think they're just happy and good at making action games.

Well done boss fights
gameplay that actually teaches you the game as you play
Good feedback on attacks
A fuck ton of replayability

Basically a complete understanding of games

Funn enough, I was thinking of mentioning Konami too. But they're literally a lost cause:

youtu.be/idsOFdZ8X54

>That skidding technique
Oh god yes.

because Bungie had already made a couple good RTS before Halo, which was going to be an RTS itself originally

I just want action games that feel different I guess.

>bayo 1 better than bayo 2
>w101 top tier
what!

>tfw we'll never have another Myth game

It hurts. And, even though it's not an RTS...

>tfw we'll never have another Marathon game

>w101 top tier
Nothing wrong here.

Vanquish > Bayo 2 > Bayo > MGR > Anarchy Reigns > W101

Never played the rest

fun action games

rising was fun. also i liked w101.

>that E3 scalebound gameplay

So is anyone gonna get this?

Top three order are debatable but Bayo 2 felt like a step back in some parts. Not bad, just not as good.

button mashing

Memes.
>LE CUHRAYZAY
>UNCA DAWNTAY
>MOOOOON RIVER
>MOTIVATION xD

They make the same game time and again, reskinned and slathered with new QTEs and minigames, with about 2 hours worth of content. Their fans eat it up, everyone else just shakes their head.

It's played by children. That's why you will always see some stupid preteen on Sup Forums saying "I want X game to be made by Platinum with Souls-like combat in an open world" followed by posting a stupid anime girl.

Avoid those kids at all cost.

Platinum didn't make DMC you stupid fuck. Also Bayonetta 2 was rated 10/10 by most sites.

It's a feature.

Then tell me some better action/adventure games with boss fights and fun gameplay. Honestly I want to know so I can play them myself.

Pretty colors and button mashing. It's the video game equivalent to jingle keys. I hate Platinum fans so much.

>MGR above W101

Diplomacy has failed

The more I watch it the more I like it, to be honest. I feel like it looks dull because of the co-op and maybe being on lower difficulty for demonstration but my only real complaint is how the bow has no weight to it

Also, could just be me trying to cope internally but I feel the game is more like Okami than DMC, and that because it's Platinum, MS wants to show off the combat when that's not the real draw, if you get what I'm saying? I really just want to see a full 18-30 minute demo and not short 5-9 minute snipets of combat.

That's too video game-y.

Grow up and try playing mature stuff like God of War: My Wife's Son Edition already.

>>w101 top tier
a slight mistake indeed

W101 is god-tier over all top-tiers

I just didn't like the gamepad sections.

You can always tell the kids who can't get their nintengoggles off because they'll put W101 before Bayonetta and MGR.

W101 wasn't bad, but it doesn't stand up next to Platinum's good games.

>Maximo
>Ghosts n Goblins
>Castlevania
>Lost Planet
>Asura's Wrath
>Vanquish
>Binary Domain

Oh trust me I know.

Theres only a few in the whole game though.

>I don't like video games with my video games

You're right, might as well play The Last Days of Gone

>Platinum's good games
>MGR
You seem to be mistaken.

Still ruins the experience when replaying

The first two Ninja Gaiden games are the only games that come to mind. There's really not anyone else making the same stuff Platinum puts out. It's almost mind boggling how this genre has become so niche when it's so rewarding and well developed.

> MGR
> good

> silly console flameposting

MGR is okay if you like songs but it's a failure as an action game (retarded and ourrightly borken lock-on and camera)

> W101
stands tall way above

it's way up there with Bayo 1

>You can always tell the kids who can't get their nintengoggles off because they'll put W101 before Bayonetta and MGR.
>MGR
It's the exact opposite: people are letting their attachment to a popular franchise inflate their opinion of a clearly rushed and shallower game.

Bayo is better than both

Devil May Cry 3. Also I hate how people think that bald faggot Hideki made the whole series when he only did the first one which aged like milk. Also he almost ruined Resident Evil 2.

>nintengoggles
>when both Bayo 1 and 2 are also on the Wii U

You can always tell the plebes who have never touched action games because they consider MGR a good action game, but given how Sup Forums is full of casuals pretending to be hardcore it's easy to se why MGR and Dark Souls are so loved

Platinum made good games?

Confusing controls, qtes, terrible stories and characters that somehow never fail to have 2+ hours of cutscenes dedicated to them.

These games bomb every time and for good reason. They suck ass

> Ninja Gaiden II
> fun bosses

>MGR is a good game because they say the word "meme" in it!!

Truly, these plebs will never understand the likes of us.
*tips respectfully in your direction*

Exactly. And what's even more mind-boggling is the fact that Western developers aren't jumping on this shit. The only Western hack and slash games I can think of are God of War, Ryse: My Wife's Son of Rome, Darksiders, and Dante's Inferno.

IT'S LIKE THE DARK SOULS OF DEVIL MAY CRY.

I liked them more on the replays, except the power grid right after you meet Vjonne but >opinions

>implying
RE2 is the best in the series though

>Darksiders
there was one developer in Darksiders II team who actually knew his action games and he wanted to add more depth to the combat but was constantly blocked by game's director and producers who kept saying: "this is too hard and completely uneeded"

nice defintely gonna pick this up for PC

>games shouldn't be challenging
It's shit like this that makes me pity the Western AAA industry. Because Dark Souls wasn't a prime example of a good and challenging game since it sold well. IT'S STILL SELLING FUCKING MILLIONS AND THEY STILL DON'T SEE IT.

>get to the werewolf fiend
>no potions
>1/5 life
>can sometimes snag a blue orb from those armor worm fiends right before him
>finally beat him with a sliver of life left
>NOW FIGHT A HORDE OF WEREWOLVES

I played MGS1 and the Demo for 2.
I have no meaningful attachment to MGS.

W101 was simply an uninteresting world, sloshy combat and obnoxious shoehorned gamepad bullshit. Good music though.

Like I said, W101 isn't a bad game. It just doesn't live up to the experiences Platinum has delivered in the past. It's not as good as either Bayo, MGR, or even Vanquish.

It gets inflated praise because all Nintendo exclusives do. The notable difference being Bayonetta 2 deserves the praise beyond it simply being a Nintendo game.

I played ZombiU on my WiiU, then got in on PS+ a few months back. It's a better experience on PS4 without the game pad distractions, and it straight up runs better.

ZombiU - metacritic 77
Zombi - metacritic 71

There is a pretty sizable portion of Nintendo players who are just, for whatever reason, incapable of taking a step back.

Hideously deformed characters I guess? And the action.

Honest question, did you finish W101?

Being one who enjoys action games and yet saying MGR failed as one, you have truly missed out

Good luck

>obnoxious shoehorned gamepad bullshit
Discarded. Anyone with half a mind uses the right stick for drawing the unite morphs.

"Finally, something that looks like a fucking videogame" what the first thing I thought.

>RE2 is the best in the series though

Agreed, but it was Shinji Mikami that made Resident Evil 2 was great as it was. Hideki Kamiya kept on fighting him which they called it "creative differences".

>an uninteresting world
lel

>sloshy combat
It has a bit higher learning curve than usual, but is perfectly playable. If you had said framerate, that'd be different.

>gamepad
Completely optional.
Honestly, everyone else has already explained through the thread where the merits of the game lie. You probably would've seen this is you weren't so concerned with making some shitty blog post about irrelevant and blatantly false company wars shit.

>bullet hell part starts up
>"oh this looks kinda dumb, you can just shoot the bullets"
>indestructible bullets come out
>"oh fuck that's pretty cool I guess"
>bullets start flying upward too

this looks rad as fuck, too bad its ps exclusive

I hate Nintendo and woukd regret buying a Wii U if not for Tropical Freeze and W101. It could be on any system and I would still think it's one of the best games, if not the best gamethis generation.

The gamepad segments are few and sparce, but also more creative than most of Nintendo's own attempts, and the combat is very responsive. The game is jam packed with content and currently the longest Platinum game out at around 18 hours for the first playthrough You really don't know what you're talking about if you put MGR or Bayo 2 above W101.

>you have truly missed out
i am literally two levels away from S-rank on revengeance

This game is a shitfest when you apply the same requirements than say Bayonetta 1 and W101 pass with success -- as in game should only get better and opens up new mechanics as you go deeper into difficulty modes

MGR ([and Bayo 2) only gets worse as you keep playing it because you find more and more gaping mistakes of combat design and get frustrated

They know what a video game is and what they should be.

What did Kamiya want it to be? More like what would become DMC?

Not that guy but the camera issues alone put W101 below Bayo2 or MGR for me.

youtube.com/watch?v=cHqjEBuXUwo
Yes. Still listen to this occasionally.

Clearly I didn't like the combat because it has a "higher learning curve". There exists space for opinions other than yours. I finished the game and didn't find it all that difficult, but I've been a fan of that sort of game for a long time. DMC is one of my favorite series as is Ninja Gaiden. I didn't say the combat was difficult to learn, or difficult in general, I called it sloshy. It felt looser than I'd have liked, and I imagine it's because there isn't one central point to the animations. It was a stylistic thing, not a functional one.

You guys are a really reactive defense force you know that? I've been told several times I'm inciting "company wars" when I was saying Bayonetta 1 and 2 are better than W101. I guess some people don't see the problem there. It got better reviews than it deserved, because it just wasn't that interesting a game.

The only time I had trouble with the camera was in act 2, in the turbine. MGR had some camera issues as well

You mean they know how to copy paste the same game over and over?
