Make Grimrock 3 turn based.
copy wizardry 6-8
Stop supporting lazy indie shit that doesn't even have features that games from the eighties had like Grimrock. As long as you give them money for what's basically the windows 3D maze screensaver, the genre will stay shit.
Is Etrian Odyssey good?
Let Grimrock 3 come out then actually make people notice it.
Also hire the devs of CrossCode to make any crawlers puzzles.
Might and Magic 11 with non grid based movement.
>non grid based movement.
So...hex based movement?
>copy wizardry 6-8
Yes, please. I'd be ready to throw gorillions of dollars at a kickstarter that promises me Wiz9.
Severance; blade of darkness 2.
No like MM6-9
Are there any more modern games with the same core dungeon crawling mechanics as Wizardry 8? I like the core gameplay but it handles like a broken school bus.
Let them rest in peace. Modern game industry conventions and classic dungeon crawlers should not mix. They've had their great run, and chances are high you haven't even played 10% of the really good ones.
this guy has the right idea, going to play knight now.
A new Underworld game is in the works too user youtube.com
Just make M&M6-8 but with good graphics and controls
I always expected a mod were they turn the game into a turn based one
>good graphics
Not necessary just give me MM6 sized dungeons.
Also make it in a Xeen style world
>Sup Forums dislikes fucking Legend of Grimrock
What the fuck is wrong with you guys
Stop making them tile based and throw large groups of monsters at the player.
I'd like to see tile based still be around I just want to see more kinds of dungeon crawlers being made.
That just makes them more streamlined. Look at Grimrock, it almost makes it like a puzzle game more than a dungeon crawler. The only dungeon crawler that is tile based and I truly enjoy is Demise but that game is like pure grind with an amazing RPG system and great exploration.
Not everyone here is twelve and we've played the legitimately good representatives of the genre.
...
I loved Grimrock 1 and 2. Great game, but I also like turn based DC
What's wrong with that party?
Insanity or some other weakening debuff on them.
>Free roam, non-grid movement like in M&M 6-9.
>Lot of functions, not like Grimrock, which is a fine game - but holy shit, 20 years old games have more content.
>Add roleplaying elements.
>Keep the basic streamline of the good old dungeon games; hard, long and fucking demanding dungeons with various puzzles, combined with a challenging party-based combat and nice relaxing stay in atmospheric towns, villages and outside nature, specifically crafted to have sort of charm.
>Treasure and artifacts hunts.
>ORIGINAL fantasy worlds; I would puke from another "Not at all Tolkien" world. Make it raw, wild, tropical or alien, just make it original without being tryhard. Probably the most difficult for the devs.
>Same with races and classes. Humans are all good and well, but use orcs, goblins, lizardmen, frog-men, minotaurs, rat-men etc. Make it interesting. Warrior/mage/thief classes same. Why not classes like a pirate, necromancer etc. - interesting ones.
>Speaking of the world setting - make it interesting to just explore. That is something that is today really lack-lusting, the world is just a background for the rest of the game.
>Lots of items to hoard.
>Music is very important.
>Visuals not so much, but the style is more important than technical level. DO NOT USE fucking WoW comic style. Fuck that shit. Aim for a semi-realistic Might & Magic feel.
>No need to save the world scheme, you can pretty much just fight to survive in the rugged border-zone or try to win over the regional power-struggle.
>Basic party interaction (no fucking romances) and character development (see Might and Magic again; from the Necromancer to the Lich for example).
You should be able to have gay buttsex with your party members. Gaider dungeon crawler when?
>he isn't an autistic and elitistic piece of jaded shit
>he must be twelve!
Gas yourself, fattie
I played Wizardry 8 for the first time recently and man this game was such a treat for a M&M VII fan. If only it was balanced more properly (desu I did make a shitty party) and fights didn't take so long, I'd have finished it. It's weird both M&M and Wizardry did that weird fantasy/sci-fi mashup. I really enjoyed it and I'm sad nobody does it anymore.
There's a mod to speed up combat animations. I'm planning on using it when I get enough spare time to play games again.
I think they're cursed.
A Hyborian Age dungeon crawler would be sweet.
I used it but it's still slow as hell. God forbid you have friendly NPCs around that decide to join the fight.
MM6 has really good worldbuilding imo and a lot of it comes just from piecing together clues the game gives you from conversations and notes without dumping exposition on you everywhere you go.
I always play turn based games in a window so long turn times aren't too much of an issue for me.
They're sad because of lack of Xeen-quality tile-based dungeon crawlers
Did they really get rid of all the scifi elements in MMX?
They created an entirely new universe once Ubisoft bought the IP.
Why did they buy the IP then??
For the name, of course.
MM4 and 5 were so much fun.
MM4 and 5 keep crashing on my PC but MM3 doesn't. wat do?
Make Grimrock 3.
Yes, please. I so miss MM6-9. And give them MM6 tier portraits.
Loli races.
Go away weeb, you have plenty of kawaii uguu~~ dungeon crawlers to choose from already.
this
weeb crawlers a shit
>read thread
>everyone trying to say "make them like skyrim" without actually mentioning skyrim
Hilarious
Where did you get that idea from?
That loli is clearly not "weeb-tier" though. Both Elminage Gothic and Stranger of Sword City are Japanese games with an art-style I would consider not weeb. However they both have loli races. But in both cases, said loli races look cute yet are not weeb-tier cute because they have a western feel to them.
Agreed. Skyrim's dungeons were amazing and really pushed the genre forward with its tough encounters and thought provoking puzzles. It took me a week to figure out how to solve this one.
Fucking this. I still play through mandate of heaven once every 2 years or so.
weeb dungeon crawlers would be better if they copied wizardry 6-8 instead
I'm not trying to be a troll, but I've only seen 1-2 posts hinting at skyrim like features.
Honestly, the graphics don't need to be God tier. I'd rather have mediocre visuals and strong gameplay with a deep skill system. Only crafting I need is alchemy.
Pic not related
>Humans are all good and well, but use orcs, goblins, lizardmen, frog-men, minotaurs, rat-men etc. Make it interesting. Warrior/mage/thief classes same. Why not classes like a pirate, necromancer etc. - interesting ones.
I'm gonna disagree with this one. MM6 is great and it only gave you humans. A lot of the time other races are just stat modifiers and stand ins for not-historical-cultures. It's not bad to have alternate races but it isn't a necessity for making an engaging world or game.
I do loath games that give you the War/Mag/Thf thing, mostly because it seems lazy I don't think throwing in a bunch of funky classes necessarily makes a game good either. Something like Dark Heresy has decent class design were classes are meant to represent roles particular to that world. The roles are built around the style of game instead of the old TANK/HEALER/DPS triangle.
It would just be nice to see an rpg vidya where the team really considers "what is this game about?" and then builds classes around that, the way many table tops do.
Hell a dungeon crawler without any classes would neat.
>Loli
Can anyone tell me that lolis aren't pedophiles?
Really, I just want mm6 with an updated engine.
>that one tower with the hagraven
>"heh pull the middle lever, they never suspect the middle one very sneaky"
HOLY
SHIT
I think the age of decadence guys are making a dungeon crawler with their sort of classless system.
In MM3 and the Xeen games you were pretty much required to have certain races if you wanted to be able to detect secret doors and enemies nearby.
What features?
Legend of Grimrock is a pure shit series for underages
...
Some people complain about it but I do like how any 4 of your party members can get hit in MM6 so you have to gear up your mages too and not just your fighters. It only works because they can also wear armor though.
They wanted to make more HoMM games, duh. Maintream didn't give a shit about M&M since HoMM III was released.
make them similar to M&M 6/7 and wizardry 8 they were the last ones to pioneer any kind of new gameplay
this one is kind of interesting though
store.steampowered.com
fuck off and play some jap wizardry clone, grimrock is a modern dungeon master/eye of the beholder
Release eroge in English.
Nice argument, kid
True, but they could have just made a game that was identical in gameplay and called it something different. They obviously bought the IP because they thought the name alone would sell more.
looks horrendous t b h
7 mages is an interesting new blobber that lets you split off your party members and move them away to other tiles in combat.
Way too colorful.
You guys should check out StarCrawlers which will release soon:

>How do we make dungeon crawlers great again?
Add exploration back into the genre. The good ones had open areas and let you wander through towns and run across NPCs, with the option of dealing with them or attacking them. Shoving everything on a set number of floors in a tiered dungeon (especially when progression is laid out to require level grinding) just make the whole experience boring. What ever happened to camping, needing to pick a proper spot with low enough encounters that you won't be ambushed and needing to decide if spending that extra time recovering is worth the risk of being attacked?
Also, perhaps it is just me, but I preferred the puzzles to bosses/level requirements gatewaying you from areas. Puzzles required you to think and figure things out. Progression was based on solving puzzles, not killing stuff, so you could have very dangerous fights you just preferred avoiding without causing problems. When progression is tied to killing bosses, then everything on a floor "needs" to be fightable because you need the experience from killing them to fight the boss. You can't just make an area dangerous by throwing in dangerous enemies.
Better?
>played this a ear ago
>still not out
To be honest, I've had more fun with this game than any of the EO titles.
>health in the thousands
No.
Which Studio do you think could pull off resurrecting MM6-8?
Personally I'd say either Larian or maybe the Dragons Dogma team.
Make an actual Might and Magic game.
>tfw Ubisoft has abused the M&M franchise
>tfw there will probably never be a good M&M game again
Go play Wiz 4-8 and see retard.
Wasn't capcom making a dungeon crawler called Deep Down or something? Looked pretty tight. Randomly generated dungeons/loot with dark souls character creation and combat. Plus multiplayer. All about going as deep as you can go into this dungeon before you die. The couple combat videos I saw looked pretty decent.
If Larian ever makes one I hope they drop the childish world theme and go for something more serious. That was my single biggest gripe with Original Sin.
>Charater at 0 health
>Portrait completely normal
why
>There will never be a good M&M game again
>there will never be a good HoMM game agin
why live
Learn chinese runes and help in the development of Elona+.
>Half the screen is the fucking ui
>Larian
>dropping the whimsical tone of their games
We can live in the hopes that someone makes a Not-M&M game.
As fantastic game as it is, Elona+ is a roguelike.
