>$5,000 for that performance
Who the fuck even is Quadro and why are their cards so expensive? Do they plate them in gold or some shit?
Its for video editing and rendering dumbass.
Might be wrong but I think those are the CAD/"Workstation" gpus. Shit for gaming, great for rendering and design work. Or is that Quattro? Fuck.
Pretty much, they are that expensive because people and organizations that buy them can afford them
they're architect build video cards. The drivers + hardware is built completely different than that of a gamer's card. Gaming is supposed to render polygons as fast as possible. A quadro is designed to render single frames with thousands of passes for perfect percision + effects. They're professional cards for Autocad designers.
Can they run high-end vidya? yes.
>i have a gts 450
JUST
That would explain that, then.
I've always hated the corporate product markup shit.
found why.
>I've always hated the corporate product markup shit.
Well, they have some features that are not present in typical consumer grade, but these features are not worth the price
not true. The architecture of the Quadro cards are totally different. Why would you have a GPU for 24gb vram when there is no gpu powerful enough to support it, unless the gpu itself has the capability of processing that, only that games arent optimized to run these cards efficiently. Hence the super expensive but shitty performance for games.
lol, that's fucking retarded. no game needs this much vram. even modded skyrim with the highest res textures doesn't need this much.
herp derp its not designed for games retard
>its the old gddr5 vram that makes this card so expensive
are you even trying
The 384-bit interface seems to be the real issue
>JUST
get a job.
Shit feels bad man. I really have a boner for ultra wide monitors but buying a 34 inch 3440x1440 monitor, 1080 gtx and 6700k with new MOBO/RAM would cost me around $1500. Hard to justify a $1500 jump from 1080p/60 fps. FeelsJewMan.
I really really want to upgrade but the 1080 is literally never in stock.
How hard is it to make those fucking things?
>$1600 Nvidia Titan Black
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
LITERALLY KEKED.
They are professional grade GPU's for workstations. They aren't meant specifically for gaming and more for AutoCAD and rendering models.
It's not like the aftermarket cards are much more powerful. Some 5%. Add a few extra % if you're MSI/ASUS and send reviewers cards with a modified bios to make the card run at higher clocks.
Those numbers don't mean anything.
Are you telling me my 780 is on par with a Titan Z?
are aftermarkets already out?
for gaming yes it is.
nobody buys a titan for gaming.
Actually... It kind of is.
Wild AMD nigger showed up with his typical "My 2016 car is cheaper and faster than the car you bought in 2012 - It doesn't matter I had to use a bus or walk on feet for 4 years) logic.
>nobody buys a titan for gaming
I want to believe that, I really do.
I'm curious as to how you managed to link that post to AMD.
Been out for a while but sell out INSTANTLY so they're impossible to buy unless you're a turboautist that just sits in his basement all day waiting for things to restock.
I was at work on my dual screen using nowinstock.net
to find out when it comes in. I found one finally open and ordered it immediately - said it would be there in 3 weeks, it came in 1.5.
Why?
I played witcher 3 with that card until finish
>nobody buys a titan for gaming
Have you never been in a build thread? Have you not seen how retarded people here really are?
Sup Forums is luffin at Sup Forums, lads.
No game needs 24 gigs of VRAM, but if you took one second and thought that maybe somebody uses computers to actually make the games you fucking play you would realize that if you run out of ram while rendering a scene you can end up fucked so having a lot of VRAM is important, and that's only one such example of when large amounts of VRAM is required.
>no game needs this much vram
>game
It's gotten to the point were I cannot tell is Sup Forums is pretending anymore.
>says ASUS one in stock on newegg
>click it
>out of stock
o-ok
Help!
Should i buy the rx 480?
>buying an ASUS card
It has two HDMI ports and 2 DP ports.
Which is weird.
>Give me advice but I'm not going to give you any information
Yes buy 4
i know, i want either an evga or msi. i was just clicking to see.
i want to fuck that nvidia card
Yes. By supporting AMD, you support toilet building in India. AMD is also funding a campaign designed to educate the population of India to use toilets, and dispel myths about toilet witches.
Geforce GTX 950 master race
>toilet building
>India
Why are you denying their culture, shitlord?
are you sure?
>980ti is almost down to $400
When that day comes, that's a wrap for consoles altogether. For that price, you double to power of any console. I've had that card for about a year now and I don't see this being needing an upgrade for another 8 years at least. If you do 3D modelling, the CUDA performance boost is killer too.
Those are for workstations that do 3D medical simulations or modeling and so forth.
Why the fuck does only MSI have backorder options?
I really want an EVGA FTW edition card, but no backorder or preorder or anything.
Why?
If this infograph is accurate, then there is absolutely no reason to buy a 1080 since the 1070 is the much better graphics:dollar value proposition.
I have a GTX980 and the only game that gives me trouble is Arma 3, and that's not because my specs are inadequate, it's mostly because your framerate is locked to the maximum output framerate of the server you play on.
Apparently ARK is also very taxing, but I have 0 interest in that Early Access survival garbage.
Well, the Titan X is for gaming, so you are technically wrong.
>If this infograph is accurate
It's not. It's a shitty synthetic test.
1080 is ~20% faster than 1070 in games.
What?
480 does ti numbers for 200 dollars bro.
>just got a 970 for under $200
>in two weeks can get a nice 1080p 144hz gsynch monitor
>can coast along until it's time to upgrade to the 1080ti whenever it finally comes out
What a time to join. Only reason I'm getting that 970 is because it's, again, under $200, and it's only meant to tide me over until Q4. 480 looks really nice for its budget, it really does, but I'm in this for that g-synch 120hz ultra long game. 480 by itself for the same price won't be as tantilizing (let alone not fucking existing yet and instantly selling out once it does).
brain aneurysm
>12800 vs 12500
If those numbers mean exactly what it means, why would anyone get 1080 over 1070?
Postin jewtube's best fatman
>480 does ti numbers for 200 dollars bro.
480 what? R9?
>found a 970 for under $200
Where?
And when do you think the 1080ti or whatever will come out?
For now I'm struggling by with my 5 year old 6970 until I can find a good 1080 in stock somewhere.
RX
Nvidia just lowered the price for the GTX 970, 980 and 980Ti
>Nvidia just lowered the price for the GTX 970, 980 and 980Ti
Huh. I'm still finding it for like $300+ everywhere.
Well hell, if it comes around August and there's no word, I'll just get the no-longer-out-of-stock 1080 aftermarkets and coast along it anyway. I'm saving a lot more money with this 970.
Don't expect to get a deal as good as I have, though. Most places will still charge at minimum $280 or so. Still, since I'm not able to wait much longer than two weeks from now thanks to a dying laptop, I cannot afford to wait for the 480.
The lowest I've seen for the 970 is $270, so I'm not sure where that guy got under $200 from.
newegg.com
>980ti still $600+
What are these people fucking smoking? Soon enough they'll be midrange at best. How the fuck do I upgrade my ancient fucking piece of shit 670 when everything is always out of stock or an overpriced piece of shit at $600+ ($800 in fucking joke Canadian dollars fuck my life).
Even fucking clowns on craiglist and ebay want $500+ for their used 980s.
>pny
no wonder its so cheap
Although 980 Ti prices have taken a nice dive.
newegg.com
It says $450 on that chart. Where do you see 600?
It can say whatever the fuck it wants, Amazon, Newegg, Tigerdirect, etc... still have it at $600+.
It's a secret to everybody.
Literally any card I could get would be an improvement over my 6970, but that thing still serves me well enough for now.
I just want to get my better card before August so I can take it to college with me, so I think I'll just be grabbing a nice EVGA 1080 FTW as soon as they're in stock.
I'm actually about to bite the bullet and buy this.
Don't know if I can pass up a 980 Ti for $440.
You're looking at the overpriced EVGA LE edition. The price of that one went up for some reason. It was $600 a year ago, now it's $650.
Worth the money
I'm still going to get the $300 cherry picked RX480 8GB. Its a worthy upgrade over my HD6950 reference
feels bad being a canada fag today.
I should say so. 6 series was a budget version of the 5 series. Pretty profound performance difference, I imagine.
The only GPU worth the upgrade from my HD6970 was the R9 390X but the RX 480 8GB has far better power consumption which means its better for crossfiring down the road
should I get a stock 1080 from EVGA or wait for the NEVER EVER EVER in edition from FTW
>toilet witches
Shit, fuck the 970 in that case.
>be canadian
>Make less than any other 1st world country.
>everything cost 20% more.
okay.
Good for you, meanwhile this will be the price for at least a year for us. It won't dip a cent below $600 even on "sales". I don't see them giving us American prices til this piece of shit is outdated by 2 generations.
>paying more for a 980 ti when you could be fucking patient and get a 1070 which is faster for cheaper
Yeah that's the point. My HD6970 has the potential to compare to the R9 270X but GCN is better supported.
The RX 480 8GB gives me the VRAM quantity and speed increase I need. The RX 480 is all around better and will bring back to maxing out all of my games.
I haven't played most of the 2013-2016 releases yet and the RX 480 will max all of those above 60fps. Its perfect
>$410 after the additional $30 rebate
Goddamn right for that price. 980ti does not fuck around (though it does really disturbing things from time to time). Running Overwatch completely maxed at 1920x1080 at 95fps avg. Was playing games from last generation totally maxed at 240fps avg. Great if you have a 120+ fps monitor or use VR.
tfw gonna be upgrading from 660 to 1070
I wish I could go back in time to when my 780 was a top of the line card
Do you think a 550w Gold PSU will handle it fine? Or should I aim for a 750w?
Quadro has a price tag like that because if you are the kind that buys it for it's purpose they usually custom build them for you to fit your form factor or your server racks.
They're about the same price already, and they perform roughly the same.
I'm still not entirely sure, I want to upgrade, but I want to wait until AMD shows off their shit.
They need to hurry the fuck up.
tfw 560ti and waiting till the end of the month to see whats a better deal
>Bought a 980 last month
>This comes out
Guess I'm buying a 1080 now. Fuck sake, why didn't I buy a console. PC is fucking shit.
>Tfw I'll be upgrading from a 280x to either a 980 Ti, a 1070, or whatever AMD comes out with that's comparable
Not to mention the warranties on those things. I'm pretty sure you only get 1 replacement for the GTX980 and GTX Titan X.
pretty much
only way to make anything of yourself here is to deal pot or do CS/CE.
Quadro cards have slightly different hardware and a different firmware. Drivers also go through a different and much more robust certification process.
But the main thing you are buying with a quadro is support from nvidia.
Couldn't tell you. I use a 600w and haven't had any PSU related issues though.
Have you been living under a rock the past 4 months
>970 that much higer then then 390
Fucking what?
They are practically the same fucking card.
Only the fact that the 390 has 8gb memory over the 970 3.5 separates them and the 970 is still higher
Passmark heavily favors Nvidia.
Canada sucks to sell things to. I used to have to ship things to Canada all the time and I had to stop selling to Canadians altogether because of what a pain in the ass it was. It also costs a lot more to have to ship things to that stupid country (no offense) because of all those insane taxes and cost declarations along with the stupid customs inspections to give their own appraisals. Your govt needs to worry about increasing the population rather than just taxing the crap out of the few people that actually live there.
That's not a gaming performance benchmark. Those are just compute scores. For some reason, CUDA always gets higher marks in everything. Seems to be really reliable for getting those scores.
