I mean I'd say Heroes of the Storm worked. Literally turn that into a fighting game and make it balanced and not freemium and you have Blizzard Smash Bros.

This isn't the N64 days though, for better or for worse. Does the average person even know who Lara Croft is anymore? Her last game bombed spectacularly, and her reboot in general wasn't exactly faithful to who she was originally.
