Halo 3

Halo 2.

>3 winning
As it should be.
Here's a memory youtube.com/watch?v=aOn7NcL5fo4

Halo 3 babies need to leave.

>Halo 3 because it was my first Halo game!

If this is you, please consider suicide ASAP.

Halo CE & 2 are the only acceptable answers.

Well if we go by single player.

Halo 1 no. Too many recycled levels and a lack of variety in the weapons.

Halo 2 nah. Several chapters dragged on way too long. Arbiter's first level was just the worst. Rest of the game was better paced but some of the levels really bring the experience down.

Halo 3. Only one terrible level and there's a lot of variety to the locals. Tons of guns and equipment now. Also the Brutes are now the main force of the Covenant giving the game a distinct gameplay style distinct from the rest of the series.

Halo 3 ODST. Fuck yes for originality, but it's an aquired taste for a Halo fan. It's a little too slow paced for some. That sniper chapter tho.

Halo Reach. Second best. Great weapon variety, brings back the Elites as dangerous foes. Great levels. Not Master Chief so some people are like not my Halo.

Halo 4. First two levels are good. Some of the later levels aren't bad, the one aboard the Marine ship, or whatever it was. Too many boring"Tron" levels. New weapons are just reskins of older existing weapons and add nothing to the overall weapon showcase.

Halo 5. LOL.

This is a decent post.

But I agree with this as well.

Halo 3 had
>online co-op
>custom armors
>elites in mp
>pick up items are interesting while not being all out armor ability game ruining
>dual wielding
>number two in story, last level, 'ending' (CE wins these three)
>third person heavy weapons were neat
>smg and assault rifle
>mongoose a cute
>forge

It wasn't the first to have many of it's best features, but I believe it's ultimately the best combination of things that I personally like or dislike in a Halo game. My heart will always pull towards Halo 2, but I know that's nostalgia. I can recognize a lot of things in CE are more classic, but I want the dual wielding mechanic, I want vehicle damage and hijacking, I want more weapons. And then because 3 added onto 2 in the same way, it has to be the best. Especially because of Reach of 4.

Armor abilities suck. The maps could be designed with jetpacks in mind, but they really aren't. They're fun but really fuck up notions of map control. I don't want sprint, as an ability or a regular button. The DMR was unnecessary. I'm just not a fan of what 343 did with 4 and I have no desire to buy an Xbone so that's it for me and Halo. I should have stopped after 3. It should have stopped after 3.

I have been playing 2 on my shitty laptop though, it's not not fun.

>no option for marathon

Halo 2 had most of the shit you just mentioned.

>3 out of 10 things now means most

Anyone see this? Thought it was good. Part II when?

>online co-op
>custom armors
>elites in mp
>dual wielding

>Not based H2 ending theme
youtube.com/watch?v=5yHuuBZgif0
Really, the entire game has amazing music.

Finished it a few hours ago. Shitty and slow animation, along with subpar voice acting

custom armor? emblems, but armor?

don't they all?
under cover of night

Animation was absolute shit, but if you get past that.

I think it was just the story that carried it. The narration was decent I thought.

I get the rather odd feeling that these recent Halo threads with polls are being made by 343 employees. If that's the case, fucking port Halo 3 to PC already if you're reading this, asshole.

No I just made it. 343 can go fuck itself and die hideously.

>tfw no halo firefight for PC

>Halo CE
Best campaign. Decent multiplayer. Was a complete game. The solid foundation.

>Halo 2
Objectively the worst game in the trilogy, but for some reason had a charm that kept you playing like a crack head. Also the grand father of modern matchmacking. My personal favorite.

>Halo 3

Objectively the best in the trilogy, but for some reason didn't have the magic that 2 and CE did. Still a solid game with many good memories. Halo 3's launch was an event that has not been replicated sense. I'm not talking about sales numbers. I mean the hype and the general feeling. It was something you can talk about almost a decade later.

get Halo custom edition and go to halomaps they have some well made singleplayer firefight maps user

>It wasn't the first to have many of it's best features, but I believe it's ultimately the best combination of things that I personally like or dislike in a Halo game.

Basically my exact wavelength, minus the "halo 2 favorite" part.

>Halo 1
So you conveniently forget the variety of environments, the fucking night mission (you know the one), and that end-game rush to get the Hell out of dodge?

The weapons thing is true, though.
>Halo 2
The flood levels and anything Arbiter really were some of the best parts. Also, dual-wielding, gun balances, and the chance to drive enemy vehicles.
>Halo 3.
I can't recall much from 3, except it took place on Earth, flood shit, High Charity, flood shit, flood shit, escape from alcatraz, end of story. Weapon variety was pretty good. I also don't recall it being too distinct and as I recall, innovations like the pistol being balanced and dual-wielding were removed. 2 more/less set itself apart, whereas 3 downgraded the good stuff and improved the stuff that wasn't as good.
>Halo Reach
It was a pretty fucking solid game. The hate comes from people who didn't like how Bungie didn't include MC and essentially disregarded what was established canon at the time. Aside, it was a solid game with solid multiplayer and a bretty gud campaign.
>Halo 4.
It was "okay". Nothing special, and not a good way to start the new trilogy. The guns all had their own variety and applications, but the Promethean weapons felt really insubstantial and ineffective while the Knights were unbalanced bullet sponges. Basically, they were the elites on steroids.
>Halo 5
As its own thing, it looks fun. As a Halo game, it really doesn't work.

But Halo CE had the worst campaign. 80% of it is literally running through copy paste hallways and rooms. It's biggest problem is that it's way too long and they stretched the content because they had a dead line.

Well, until you get to the abortions aka 4 and 5. Holy fuck, 343. If you weren't up to the task, you should have come clean and told Microshit.

i have completely disregarded those in my mind, not playing/insulting them directly i just didnt even think about them as halo. Helps that i haven't and won't play 5.

Normies, don't know about Marthon, user.

>implying i don;t have all three installed
alephone.lhowon.org/ for anyone. They're really fun

New episode when

No, neglected to mention it because all those levels still suffer from the same problems of going on for waaaaayyyy too long.

Rescuing Captain Keyes? Hope you don't mind running through the same hallway 20 times.

Second to last level recycles those same hallways.

>that cool snow level with the neat snow bridges and the pyramid like structure in the side of the mountain
Most of that level is spent in hallways and the same 2 rooms. Repeat 30 or so times.

The fucking library. Christ.

It's a fun game man. But good lord that single player has some big problems.

5 is better than 3 and Reach

This isn't a thread about marathon, though, it's about Halo.
Security Officer vs. Master Chief, who would win?
The series ended.

Hopefully never, goddamn did it go to shit, the show ended up taking itself too seriously.

Let me put it this way.
Halo CE made me work for that golden fucking ring that was completing the game on Legendary
Halo 2 wasn't as tough, but it was enough to make the sadist in me happy
Halo 3 involved an entire week of cola, chips, and co-op campaign with a good friend to beat on Legendary. We got halfway past the first level of ODST before he swapped it out for GoW.
Reach, to this day, still laughs at how utterly I fail as a Human being for not being able to get halfway through its campaign on legendary
It took me roughly 8hrs (an entire night, essentially) to beat 4 on Legendary

You didn't miss anything with 4. It was as bad as everyone said, multiplied by cancer.

>Autoaim, Lunge boi pucci.

Jesus christ when did Sup Forums become such faggots familia?

If you're talking about single player then please get your head checked immediately

There's an 8th season out

season 8, user
I feel you. God knows how many hours and snacks i went through playing legendary coop, and then again when the vidmaster challenges came out.

>needing a friend to help you get through Halo 3 on Legendary. The easiest of the Halos.

The Brutes aren't like the Elites, user. They are terrible at dodging attacks and their hit boxes are huge. What's your excuse?

Halo 3 babies pls go
CE nostalgiagoggles pls go

>4 has any votes at all
>has MORE votes then 5 when at least 5 has good MP

Retards pls go

Just read the book it's based on, the animation stops halfway through it on top of having shit animation.

It's also the best halo novel to get into the novels with too

I doubt it, that statement is only not completely retarded in terms of MP.

Halo 3's custom games and forge were more than enough to make it the best.

inb4 "first halo", nah, Halo CE trial was my first.

eric nylund's fall of reach?
def a great one and super easy to get into, this guy's good
check out the Flood [novelization of halo ce] and first Strike [between ce and 2 following chief] after Fall of Reach

The new bytes are pretty good

They are like the older episodes and not attached to the story

reach a best

>implying I haven't read every novel already

was meant to go along with the suggestion to read the fall of reach, wasn't directed at you, i was unclear
i haven't read any of the later novels are they still good?
i think my last ones were Evolutions, ghosts of onyx and the gray team one

>No, neglected to mention it because all those levels still suffer from the same problems of going on for waaaaayyyy too long.
Have you played any games before or after the Halo series? Perfect Dark had long levels. Goldeneye could go on simply because of how stupidly confusing some sections were. Long levels isn't a new thing, nor was it when Halo launched. It probably felt long because there were definitely sections where there was nothing to do.
>Rescuing Captain Keyes? Hope you don't mind running through the same hallway 20 times.
While getting shot at by about a dozen covenant around every corner? And that shitshow that was the hangar bay, btw. Oh, and that's also part of the night mission with the sniper rifle.
>Second to last level recycles those same hallways.
Second to last level takes place on the pillar of autumn, iirc. Are you talking about the mission before you go back to the pillar, where you have to navigate a downed covenant frigate infested by flood?
>Most of that level is spent in hallways and the same 2 rooms. Repeat 30 or so times.
The forerunner levels weren't exactly examples of excellent design, I'll give you that.
>The fucking library. Christ.
You're mistaking "bad design" with "tedious bullshit".
>It's a fun game man. But good lord that single player has some big problems.
I won't argue that there were sections that sucked donkey dick, because it's a fact that the series has a horrible track record with those long sections of nothing (3 and Reach weren't as bad, but they had their parts), but the single player was pretty good and still holds up now.
>Pic related

>challenge this week is 50 wins
>it gets reset everytime i log off

>Tfw the series in OP's pic ending made me cry
Goddamn you Jon. You shouldn't make me cry over 2 toys offing themselves.

>using custom games as a point for 3 when they were in 2

And Forge stinks. Shtty maps made to make the game feel like it has more maps than it does.

Nothing beats perfectly crafted maps built by Bungie (aka Halo 2)

Remember when maps had interactive enivorments that changed the flow of battle? Yeah that was when the creators actually cared.

>3

you guys are alright
don't go to Reach tomorrow

It was so bad that our landlady told us to get cleaned up. We stayed up entire nights playing and replaying the shit out that campaign.
>Implying Halo 3 was difficult
My friend was basically the living embodiment of Brutes and couldn't dodge/cover to save his life. I could have beat the game alone, but there was also the fact that he owned the console and the games and video games are more fun with friends.

Halo CE because it had the best flood levels, which are my favorite. Also butt touching

Ohh, well that sucks.

>Tfw your friend breaks it to you that the elite-speech is Johnson's dialogue reversed.
youtube.com/watch?v=eYD4VuNAAoM

Actually Perfect Dark and GoldenEye did not have those same problems. Those levels could be beaten in less than 5 minutes each. The longest level in GoldenEye was still extremely short compared to Halo CE standards. You are simply wrong on that.

>While getting shot at by about a dozen covenant around every corner?

That's not exactly a unique feature when it's in every level of the game.

>You're mistaking "bad design" with "tedious bullshit".
I don't think you even understand what you just said.

YEAH I LOVE HACKING ON HALO 3 IT'S SO AWESOME

I need some fucking pussy.

THAT'S JON'S WALLETZ HE STOLES IT FROM ME

Wow I never realized that. And I was always trying to decipher what the fuck wubwubwub and lookwho'scoming was.

>and a lack of variety in the weapons
It had exactly what was necessary, and nothing more.
A million clones and duplicates of every weapon does not make for variety.

HOW IS JON SUPPOSED TO PAY THE RENT WITH SCOTT DEAD?

That's why we sell his organs to the chinese

so many god damned halo 3 babies

Lack of variety compared to the other entries in the series. The list was clearly comparing the titles to each other. You dork.

>A million clones and duplicates of every weapon does not make for variety.

Halo 1: Best campaign, solid multi
Halo 2: Best multi, decent campaign
Halo 3: Great Campaign, good multi
Halo Reach: Good multu, good campaign
Halo 4: irredeamable trash
Halo 5: Great multi, solid campaign

>3 voted higher than CE
>2 voted higher than CE (kinda debatable)
>fucking REACH voted higher than CE

Sickening. CE was the best, 2 in very close second, 3 after that. The rest of the Halos don't compare.

t. immersionfag that cares not for esports

NEVER FORGET ;-;
youtube.com/watch?v=7f94Z--PJdc

Everyone not voting for CE has either never played it on LAN, or don't appreciate competitive Halo at its peak.

Not bad but I prefer 2 over 3.

Everything up until you go to the Ark felt like it should have been in 2. And brutes are boring as fuck to fight. It feels like they replaced interesting ai for more enemy health.

>the end of that video

why did I have to feel

>Campaign
CE=ODST>2>3>Reach>4>>>Multiplayer
2>CE>Reach>3>5>>>>Customs
3>2>Reach>CE>5>4
>Music
ODST>CE=2>3>Reach>5>4

>that annotation at the end

Fuck, even xbox connect was better than the bullet magnetism lunge shit show that 2 became.

>ODST isn't winning
WHAT DID POOR JOE EVER DO TO YOU?

He made halo 2.

No he didn't he just wrote it. And just like Destiny over half of his script got cut.

Anyone else looking forward to Halo Wars 2?

I played the first so much, I just loved it, I have seen some demos of the second and the main thing that dissapoints me so far is they still have the unit cap, even on the pc version, hopefully you will be able to disable that. Apart from that little detail I think it looks good

>tfw Destiny could have been amazing if Jewson Jewns didn't fucking trash his script and world
What the fuck happened to Jason?

Is this any good? It seems like it would be a lot of fun, but I don't even know if it's finished yet.

What is it?

What is this?

It comes out in like a month famalam. Everyone that's played it says it's great outside of some minor weapon balance things.
youtube.com/watch?v=1ZNT-vqtVpI

Sorry. It's a mod for Halo 1 that adds in a bunch of stuff in the campaign from the newer games and even some completely original things like a Brute Needler
