because there's nothing to criticize.

Because it's 100% perfect. We all blew our load already.

Now all that is left is the god-forsaken wait.

this game is fucking shit

it's a console port and that should tell you all you need to know

did you just click on a random thread and fill out the reply form with whatever pasta you had closest to hand

>the potential of mods
>having muskets and smoke and gunfire filling the battlefield

I'm happy about all the new shit but I'm here to ask the REAL questions, son. Like Did they improve marriage mechanics and did they add the ability to bone your spouse and have kids?

because it makes the wait even more unbearable

No idea how much they've changed marriage shit, but I'd assume it's better than Warband's marriage.

In this blog they talk about characters aging so maybe there's a potential for heirs.

>that map editor
my dick is diamonds
too bad release is probably 6+ months away

Holy fuck does this require any programming whatsoever? Fuck I love map editors, can these be used on campaign maps? I didn't eve hear about this. Hot damn I need to upgrade my PC stat.

because its an already confirmed blunder

Lol sure thing famalamborghini

I just feel like the concept of making an heir is cool as shit
>tfw you will never be able to execute your wife for only giving you daughters

Yes

Dear fucking lord, am I hyped, but they sure did reuse a lot of assets.

Because this footage wasn't particularly exciting and didn't show us much beyond what we already knew. There's some new siege equipment, cool. Doesn't look like it does any serious damage or effective sieges that much.

Otherwise the gameplay looks exactly the same as before.

Also the shitter playing it had cheats on

i kind of figured they weren't going to fuck the combat up and they always talked about sieges being shit in both mountain blade games. what i really want to know is how the diplomacy is

>Otherwise the gameplay looks exactly the same as before.
The combat was one of the most highly praised gameplay elements. Did you think they were going to do a major overhaul of it? There have been some changes to it but yeah it's mostly the same. It's a sequel, not a different game.

Great, can't wait for the waifu mods.

>Otherwise the gameplay looks exactly the same as before.

Honestly, I'd rather play it safe and hope they don't tweak it too far off from what it was originally, and instead focus on expanding and fleshing out the feudal, diplomatic, economic, banditry, and other concepts that could give it even more replayability.

>does this require any programming whatsoever?
Nah, the map editor shouldn't.

Yeah I kind of did expect a major overhaul to the sequel of a game originally made by a couple of turkroaches hiding under fridge.

cause its taken them forever to realese that shit

seriously 5 years for this?

But they've overhauled almost every aspect of the game. You did see the other gameplay videos right?

Did you forget that they are still a small fucking company?

i cant wait to make loli mods

>randomly gets health back
>swinging wildly
>terrible with a bow, aims too high almost every time

the devs are shit at the game

they're using an OP as fuck character too, just look at how much damage he deals

what a blunder of a post

they built a completely new engine for this game, that takes a while

Which faction will you join first, Sup Forums?

Blue - Sturgia
Red - Vlandia
Green - Battania
Orange - Western Empire
Pink - Northern Empire
Brown - Khuzaits
Purple - Southern Empire
Yellow - Aserai

No, we don't know if there's any difference between the Empire factions

Vlandia is new Swadia
DEUS VULT

>potential
It's pretty much guaranteed, considering the most popular mod for warband was napoleonic wars, and it was so successful it ended up being made an official expansion.

Probably Vlandia because the region reminds me of Swadia. Possibly Sturgia if it's the 'viking' type faction because I do love me some axes. Especially if it lets me dual wield them.

>the potential of mods
Why can't people just enjoy games for what they are anymore? Why do you need to fantasize about the changes some high school hobbyist could potentially make to the game?

>341843465
>the beginnings of an anti-mod sentiment
begone with ye

>Why can't people enjoy extra free stuff made by people that don't have a profit incentive or deadlines so they can be a lot more adventurous?!
You're a moron. Mods don't detract from the package, they enhance it. Floris mod, for example, makes Warband twice as good while still maintaining the core gameplay.

>Especially if it lets me dual wield them

>Tfw I can recognize all of classic Caldria
>New map is fuckhuge in comparison

Good. This pelases me.

>if you kill a soldier about to throw something, the object still falls out of his hands and can do damage
beautiful

Okay.

>dual wielding in MB
please god no

/sand boys/

>all core functions the same
>improvements across the board
>totally open source and engine available to modders

What else can we possible talk about except making euphemism to how big are dicks are right now

>Also the shitter playing it had cheats on
And? Better than having it scripted.

I would rather gameplay footage be the actual game just running and the player cheating to be able to show it all, rather than nothing but scripted gameplay that 'sort of' shows what the game is but not really because its scripted.

...

>taking artwork as historical record
do you have any idea how many inaccuracies there are between depictions of warfare and recovered artifacts of the time?
People carving and painting didn't has a good attention to detail, you can finds loads of paintings from the middle ages of armor, clothing and even weapons that never existed.

Dual-wielding has been proven to be worthless for warfare, you don't swing faster with two swords and you lose protection and force of each swing.
Dual-wielding is for dueling, it's party trick.

I don't really see why not. You're already allowed to do suicidal shit like walk into line battles with a two-handed sword instead of a spear/pike and shield. I don't want to dual wield axes because I think it's efficient, I want to dual field axes because it's batshit crazy and awesome, and berserkers actually did that shit. Hence why they were called fucking berserkers.

THIS
RELEASE IT ALREADY FUCK I JUST WANT TO SLAY PEASANTS AND WAGE WARS FOR PROFIT

>While far past the height of its power, the Empire's military has been honed throughout the generations and is still a force to be reckoned with, employing cataphracts and spearmen along with archers to devastating effect.
>The Vlandians are a feudal state that specializes in heavy cavalry.
>The Sturgians inhabit the northern woodlands and are lethal axe-men and swordsmen.
>The Aserai inhabit the more desertic lands of Calradia and combine footmen and horsemen in battle.
>The Khuzaits are a steppe tribe and make heavy use of horse archery.
>The Battanians are famed for their marksmanship as archers throughout Calradia.

Berserker means bear skin.
Because they wore bear skins.
It has nothing to do with "going crazy" and doing DMC style combos in a horde of enemies.
They also probably didn't take drugs to get themselves into a rage, and they felt pain like the rest of us.

Am I the only one who hates that fucking font? I was really hoping they'd use something remotely modern and readable.

See If you want practicallity, don't play suicidal shit and just be a boring knight faggot on a horse with a polearm casually riding around destroying idiot peasants. What was fun about warband is I had the option to be something else entirely if I wanted to be. It's mount and blade, not melee-ArmA.

Any word on co-op?

the point of MB is pulling off crazy suicidal shit while being restricted to the more realistic standards of the game.
If you could just flip around doing Link's spin attack with axes it would be stupid.

If they were going to implement duel axes they would have to be shittier than using a single axe, and it's kind of pointless considering the game is focused on warfare.

>I dont like it so it doesnt exist
Yeah, no. Monk scriptures from vikings raids in England continuously make reference to vikings dual wielding weapons, particularly ones they called berserkers, which is where the entire western depiction of berserkers and beserking came from.

This is also just common sense; is some totally retarded uneducated rape happy pillager going to be holding multiple weapons if he can? Yes, he is. Even if using two weapons is empirically worse off that isnt going to stop him because he doesnt know that.

Except I'm not asking for that shit. I never did. I WANT to be gimped with a ridiculous style. It makes it more satisfying when I destroy people. That's the whole point of the game for me. Succeeding against slanted odds with eccentric playstyles.

>Vikings were just dumb they did this dumb thing because they didn't know how to fight
riiiiight

so show this proof. it doesn't exist you stupid fucking child. the berserkers you're talking about used fuck huge two handed axes

What's the point OP, you dumbass.
The game's not out until 2017, we can talk about it then. There's nothing to talk about right now.

Did you like the trailer?
Yes/No
Thread over.

>sieges still consist out of 200 people standing on the wall

Stop trying to turn this into a 'everything or nothing'

Many Vikings did use multiple weapons and we have evidence of that. Im not going to go to a library and pick up a history book of monk scriptures to prove this point because its literally common knowledge at this point. Its the entire basis of beserkers.

Many vikings used many different weapons, this isnt the Romans with a ultra strict well regulated army.

>Monk scriptures from vikings raids in England continuously make reference to vikings dual wielding weapons, particularly ones they called berserkers

Where did you get this ridiculous idea from.

You can literally go watch footage right now of football hooligans beating each other with sticks, and often they used multiple

Why is it so insane and impossible to believe that some idiot vikings or other barbarians did the same. You do realize these people were all idiots, right?

So what's so special about Mount & Blade exactly? It looks pretty generic from what I've seen.

Not saying it isn't good, I'm more than willing to be convinced otherwise.

are you saying they be standing inside the walls where they can't shoot the enemies or keep them from climbing up?

so show the fucking proof then. it's not about having a professional army. it's about the practicality of it. there's no tactical advantage to dual wielding and even the vikings knew this

Learn to read what I posted rather than getting mad and just throwing baseless assumptions

Feel free to get a library card

>common knowledge
common knowledge is usually wrong, the reason it's common is because it's transmitted via word of mouth rather than learning from sources.

Having multiple weapons doesn't mean you use both at once.
Most soldiers would try to at least have a dagger on them for when they are up close.
Using two axes at once is stupidity in any real combat scenario.
You're losing chopping power, you already have no way to stab, you're not going to be able to parry well at all and you are not gaining any benefits at all.
Vikings weren't stupid meat heads like in your cartoons, they were smart about how they fought and were able to sail huge portions of the globe.
That's how they were able to fight forces with better military technology and weapons.
They didn't become as infamous as they are by doing stupid shit to impress the 12 year olds reading about them centuries later.

It's a sandbox rpg in a medieval setting. You can do whatever you want be it trading, raiding, being a dickass bandit, being a lord in a faction, being a king, etc.

>it's about the practicality of it.
No its not, its about how much shitposting you want to do

No one gives a flying fuck you dont like dual weapons.

>Comparing fucking Vikings to football hooligans
>Calling Vikings idiot

I'd like to see you do that when they DRINK FROM YER SKULL

>idiot vikings
>forged the best swords the world has ever seen
>expert sailors
>shrewd traders
you obviously have no fucking clue what you're talking about. go to bed, kiddo

>thinks Vikings are all idiots
it's like you're trying to make what you're saying even less valid.
>dude football hooligans do thing so an armed force with its lives on the line would do the same thing
I mean really, your brain must be in overdrive trying to scrape together this kind of rationale.

>no dismemberment

Fuck your shit game.

>You do realize these people were all idiots, right?
next you're going to say that everyone used to think the earth was flat or that For Honor looks like a good game

>I watched the show Vikings and now know everything about them
The fact you posted
>That's how they were able to fight forces with better military technology and weapons.
As if it was true proves you have no idea what you are talking about.

>He thinks having a javelin, axe and dagger means vikings used multiple weapons at the same time

goddammit you make me play m&b again

>he thinks 1+1=3
I can make up shit and claim you said it too

>dude you watched Vikings
>in reality they were dual wielding soccer hooligans that fought naked and sailed to other countries by accident
just give up, you're anonymous so there's no shame in it.

>MA HONORABUL SMART VIKINGS
This is fucking hilarious. You're LITERALLY doing the '1000 times folded STEEL' Japanese bullshit but actually believing it.

Firstly, thats someone else

Second, thanks for admitting you have no idea what you are talking about, shitposting offtopic is admitting you were wrong.

great argument user

>b-but muh common knowledge
>b-but muh dumb bulky viking hulk man
>b-but muh dual wielding rage mode
>b-but muh berserker soccer hooligan

Personal opinions aside, how would dual wielding work mechanically? Make each mouse button control attacking with each weapon? But then you can't block. And you'd probably attack slower since you have two weapons. idk senpai. Separate button for blocking?

I think dual wielding is fucking retarded but I want to know how it would even work in game

>Viking raids often lacked formation. They have been described as "bees swarming." However, what they lacked in formation they made up with communication. This naturalistic sense of unconventional warfare is rooted in their lack of organized leadership. These small fleets communicated effectively and made it difficult for English and Frankish territories to counter these foreign tactics. Sprague compares these tactics to those of contemporary western Special Forces soldiers who, "attack in small units with specific objectives."
>Sprague, Norse Warfare: The Unconventional Battle Strategies of the Ancient Vikings
b-but they're so dumb, they didn't have any sense of tactics...

except any blacksmith or historian will tell you that ulfberts are some of the finest forged swords the world has ever seen

>b-but muh show the proof!
>b-but muh berserkers all fought with the same weapon and never deviated ever in the history of vikings
>this fantasy game has to be the same as real life, even though I don't understand real life

lol(?)

wrong

>le show the proofs
hey i can do it too.

Vikings did not "dual wield". They had two-handed axes which were used when needed, but for the vast majority of time used a sword and shield, axe and shield or spear and shield. There are no recorded instances that mentions using two swords or axes as anything but an improvised battle tactic which was far from the norm among Vikings.

The word "berserker" comes from the two words; "ber" and "serk", meaning "bear coat". Norse beserkers would often wear animal skins and enter a state of frenzy by channelling the spirit of the animal, a bear of wolf most commonly. But they did not go into battle nude as many seem to imagine. The confusion among laymen comes from the Celtic beserkers who would go to battle without clothing, only covered in painted woads.

A Norse berserker was most likely to charge into battle with two spears, throwing them while closing in and then switching to a sword or a sword and shield when clashing with the enemy. The berserker rage was often achieved by the warrior imbibing a non-lethal dose of poisonous mushroom before battle, creating hallucinations and making them numb to pain and injury.

A lot of you should watch less American-produced nonhistorical comedy shows like "Vikings".

>berserkers could use different weapons, thus they must have used some retarded configuration of two axes because anime
okay.

>its impossible that vikings ever went into a fight with 2 weapons.

what can we do about the Sup Forumsutistic underage newfags plaguing this board?

>thread ruined by historyfags
Im so glad /twg/ and /mbg/ got purged from you faggots.

Sup Forums historyfag purge when?

No but seriously, I don't see how dual wielding would work with M&B's directional combat

Any word on multiplayer servers? As it stands I only get 5 servers with about 6-12 people in at any given time with playable ping (

>impossible
No.
>Unlikely
Yes.
>Completely pointless
Definitely.

>game that prides itself on having nothing to do with high fantasy
>wonders why people have a problem with autistic kids wanting high fantasy dual wielding

You can literally do it now with sword and shield, it would be the same but instead of blocking you swing.
