Ayesha literally has nothing to do with the Arland games, it just builds up a really cool world and then the next game in Dusk just drops the idea entirely for generic hetero love and ripping off MK, fuck you GUST.

You really should give it a try. The game itself is top notch with a lot more freedom than Rorona and the characters are great. Totori grows up to be very likeable.

It has less freedom than Rorona, actually. And not nearly as many endings.

But it's still pretty open and that's cool, too bad the combat and area design haven't aged well and Meruru did the achievement thing better.

Rorona forces you into 3-months assignments so HAVE to focus on that and most areas aren't available until a specific time. Totori gives you 3 years and says do what the fuck you want and areas unlock by raising your rank. How does Rorona have more freedom.

Did they even bother to change the animation of items depending on their quality in Sophie? Honestly I dropped the game the moment I beat the final boss demon thingie so I haven't tried crafting shit items / good items to see.

You can get assignments done in a month and half or less if the RNG gods favor you and you don't suck balls. Even if Totori gives you three years to fuck around a lot of the areas are gated by progression so you more or less have a set path, and the variety of events, flags and endings in Rorona makes for a more open-ended game in the end.

Totori was one of my favorite Atelier games until I played it again recently, it's not as neatly designed as the other two Arland games (rather, their Plus versions). It's still good, but at the end of the day it was a stepping stone rather than an incredible game on its own.

It's a B2 wallscroll, it's pretty hard to scan it. I think it's one of the ones I bought from the Gust booth as well.

I started with Totori+, then went onto Meruru+ and now I'm working my way through Rorona+. I think Totori definitely has the best story out of all of them, Meruru is just plain fun and Rorona+ is obviously the most polished. Looking forward to Overtime mode.

I've always wanted to play these but have been anxious about the time mechanic. How stressful is it and how does it effect the game. Does it ever feel like you're being rushed?

There is a lot to these games, and while its technically possible to get everything in one go, it's more likely you'll need two or three playthroughs to do everything. Which is fine, there is a lot of content and replayability value. The time mechanic never bothered me that much, in the original Rorona it was fucking horrid but they smoothed everything out in Plus. Totori and Meruru are fine as well. I never felt over pressured to reach a deadline, generally you do the required stuff first and then spend the rest of the time exploring and synthing.
