I agree. I was not looking forward to it when previews first started to surface based on the graphics & animation and the fact that Capcom farmed development out to a Western studio I've never heard of instead of keeping everything in-house (this was following Konami's experience with handing Castlevania over to Mercury). However, it turned out very good. They kept the storyline unobtrusive, and motion ended up being very fluid. The level layout and enemy placement was great for showing off Hiryu's acrobatics. The only thing is the enemies were very weak against Strider's attacks. They should have had more health.

I sometimes wonder what possessed Capcom to add Strider to MvC in the first place with (at the time) completely redone sprites. The arcade game was released in 1998, but the original Strider was released in '89 on the CPS-1 and ported to everything under the sun including the Genesis in '90 & PC-Engine in '94. So there was a huge gap in time.
It's arguable that Strider wouldn't have survived to the modern era without inclusion in MvC-series. Though fat lot of good it did for Hayato (Star Gladiator) & Jin (Cyberbots).

Capcom was so based back then they were originally planning to have their breasts exposed then they put that leaf under it but you can still see the expose breast in the sprites
