It sucks, and the """lore""" is laughable.
this looks like a warhammer ork was hired to do disney's animatronics why is it so silly
I remember the fun Sup Forums had the first week it came out.
The lore was good until 4, which nobody can still really agree on
I like the artstyle. You don't see it too often nowadays, and it reminds me of some early PC games I used to play. Scott is pretty good at working with it so I don't mind it as much as I probably should because it hits a soft spot with me in that regard.
I thought they were simple animatronic animals. What the hell is this?
I think the gameplay is pretty genius despite being so simple.
exploitation vidya
A bad dream
One of the games takes place in a nightmare
The original games designs legitimately scared me, the simplicity but just uncanny look to them was a really good hook to it.
The later games are retarded, shit like the OP pic isn't scary because its supposed to be "scary" with the retarded amounts of teeth.
meme game for youtubers and twitch streamers
Flavor of the month garbage, was way more popular than it should have been because of youtubers like pewdiepie. Almost non existant gameplay with lame jump scares. The fanbase is also Undertale/Minecraft level's of cancer because of said youtubers streaming it.
Its still scary imo. Its just a different kind of scary.
The original animatronics were unsettling. The ones like pic related tap more into peoples general fear of being harmed. I personally am a lot more put off by pic related then anything in the other games.
Its a different strolks for different folks kind of thing
At least its not pop
meant to quote
The fastest milked franchise I have ever seen.
the first game had good and bad characteristics to it
it had a great and rather unique atmosphere and a gameplay that worked perfectly around that
but on the other hand the delivery was always just generic jumpscares
it was alright, obviously youtuber bait but still a somewhat solid experience
after that the dude just started milking the game to no end so now it's really not worth caring about it anymore
The only thing scary about it is how ugly the models are
Seriously, they look like some beta build of a canned game for the PS2
FNAF 4 is apparently some kid's fever dream.
Welcome to the internet.
those teeth wouldn't even be that harmful mostly because they'd get clogged easily as shit and be useless, there's a reason sharks loose teeth and grow them back so much
Reminder that people unironically want to fuck the things in this series
Fredbear is my favorite animatronic and I don't even know why
i made some fake fnaf maps once it was pretty funny
The memes are the best
I really liked the first game's aesthetic. It was more old and shabby rather then full on horror. Neglected places and things are a lot sadder and more creepy to me then 'omg look at all the teeth its so dark everywhere my soul is now blood'. I don't hate Scott though, he seems like a cool guy who just wants to make fun games, whether they are successful or not. I really like his crazy souldozer designs too
i gotta admit, that was pretty scary
>single indie dev making a game
>first game's gameplay is just flicking through screens and waiting
>atmosphere and art hold it up
>wildly successful
>instead of taking money and making an actual game he literally makes the same game 4 times
>fanbase is 90% kids so he can rehash the same game and no one will care
The RPG is the only sequel of worth. The others are just the same basic game with additions that make the core original gameplay worse.
The designs get worse too. The original animatronics are creepy from a basic uncanny valley angle. After the first game they just become a mess of metal and teeth
really, only the 4th game had the designs go that bad, it there's a reason why. the other animatronics were pretty much just falling apart, making them look more sinister looking
>The RPG is the only sequel of worth
I don't think you know what you are talking about. The RPG is the only one that is genuinely bad.
Just because its different, doesn't mean its good
Atleast the update 2 content is good
Sup Forums hates it because it's popular and normies play it
My thoughts are, "Everyone, please stay in your seats."
Needs more of qt Foxy
See this design is where things go off the rails. The 4th game was a kids nightmare so I can understand the crazy designs.
This things face literally breaks apart and has teeth underneath. There's no way this thing was ever used to entertain children
There is no lore, its an excuse for having autism
...
Nightmare Freddie is the greatest thing that happened to the franchise. Nothing will ever top it.
they have the most consistently cringeworthy threads on /vg/
dont believe me? go look.
Is this still going on? I'm pretty sure they said the third was supposed to be the last, then the fourth was supposed to be last, and now there's a fifth one?
so who was the kid in the 4th game?
golden freddy?
the puppet?
the bite of 87 vitcim?
another bite victim?
also I think the kid in the minigames in 4 isn't the same kid as the one we play as in the main parts of the game of 4.
the house in the atari game is laid out entirely differently than the one in the main parts of the game.
its gay poopoo for gay kids
>tfw genuinely want to discuss lore and try to go to the /vg/ thread
...
Welcome to the horror genera.
Pretty sure he was golden Freddy, right? He definately wasn't the 87 victim. I am a firm believer that fnaf 4 was 83 and the bite of 87 was just a huge red herring
The idea is for the face to keep together while it's performing and to only come apart when maintenance needs to be performed.
I thought I had this whole thing locked down till 4 came out and now everything is fucked
but personally I think it was the puppet, since we saw golden freddy in the give gifts give life game.
I can't help but think it was deliberate
That seems needlessly complicated and would require more maintenance then a normal head would.
I remember when fun was a buzzword.
fucker just made shit up after the first game sold like crazy. At least he did a decent job of not fucking everything up until 4.
I mean it still is fucking shit.
Gonna have to disagree. I think it's so the animatronics can express a sort of emotion by moving their face plates. Look at the way foxy does it in the trailer, it's supposed to be moving.
It gave GameTheory a shit ton of views
>1
A fun little concept that was a surprise hit
>2
More mechanics, swerve ending, tension built around systems that were similar to the first without being exactly the same
>3
Deeper into the lore. More twists. More jumpy jumpscares. New systems are pretty boring. Shorter play time due to the content being hidden for the true ending
>4
Even more goddamn lore. Less interesting mechanics. Minigames to skip hours during the night because it's a slog.
why did they give that robot all those teeth and then get mad when it bites people
...
I'd buy that if their mouths weren't in a fixed position and Baby's eyebrow plates weren't static while the rest of the plates moved.
They thought it would be funny. They were right!
Her eyebrows aren't static though. They are clearly a different plate than anything else
its barely a video game
Isn't that what I just said? Let's review:
>Baby's eyebrow plates weren't static while the rest of the plates moved
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I said that. As in the rest of her face plates move, while the ones with her eyebrows remain in place.
A very unique series that shouldn't have received the hate that it got on Sup Forums for getting popular. Legitimately unnerving designs and and the gameplay was surprisingly tense for how simple it was. Lore was great and unique in comparison to mos horror games out there as well.
But Scott milked it too fast and it shows in the apparent downfall of quality after the 4th one. And because of that, a lot people don't seem to care anymore. He should've spaced the releases out more after 2, rushing them out the door ruined the potential for FNAF to be a longstanding IP. He needs to let go and make something new now.
Are you confusing the word static, or am I?
I am pointing out that the eyebrows clearly DO move
Scott's been hiding source code in the new teasers, and it implies that Purple Guy was the one who actually designed and built the animatronics, which is why they look so fucked up. Because he was genuinely fucked up in the head. He probably designed these animatronics, especially the ones we see in the new Sister Location, to appeal to his fetishes and fantasies, to make killing kids and stuffing them in the suits even more pleasurable.
Also, these animatronics are supposed to be rentable, for events and such.
Purple Guy's name in the novel is William Afton, and the name of the company that produced the animatronics in SL is Afton Robotics.
I'm talking about the plates the eyebrows are attached to, not the eyebrows themselves. It's a given THEY move, but I'm talking about her face.
Don't take the novel as gospel, the name may just be a reference to it
isn't the novel supposed to be it's own thing?
I really hope this isn't the case. Making him the designer really fucks up the lore and IMO makes it less enjoyable. I always thought of him as a fucked up murderous employee, not the fucking CEO. Source on the name of the company being Afton Robotics?
Also, I saw that rental thing. Although I don't totally hate the Adult theory, I don't think having them rented out has anything to do with it.
Either way, my biggest hope for this game is that there is no references to the first games lore at all. Scott himself said the lore was getting to unmanageable, so throwing purple guy into the mix of the new game would be rediculous. Scott has a chance to start NEW lore and I hope he takes it, not tries to merge it with the old stuff.
Anyone else genuinely interested in the movie?
I know it's MUH VIDYA GAYM MOVIE, but it sounds like it could be fucking good.
It's using practical effects and real animatronics built by Jim Henson's creature shop.
The movie is supposed to feel a lot like 80's horror-comedies, leaning more towards horror.
The guy directing it is working closely with Scott, and is actually a massive fan of the games, so he's not letting any inaccuracies or retarded things slip by.
I don't care for it but it's keeping Markiplier from working at Burger King so good for him. He'd probably not do very well there, he doesn't have any skills at all.
It's a fan model. The original model isn't much better, to be honest. We never knew what Fredbear actually looked like, only his nightmare version which mad it weird.
Strangely enough my biggest worry is that it isn't different enough. Now with sister location and stuff coming out, I'm getting over the Freddy Fazbear aesthetic. I'm worried the movie is just going to be a first game circle jerk where they tell a similar story with similar characters.
I want the movie to show us new locations and animatronics we haven't seen yet.
>Jim Henson creature shop
holy shit is this real?
I was interested in it, but now I'm sold
>/vg/
There you go.
I did some Googlefu, and it's too much.
can someone give me a lore cliffs? just simple break downs. I never played the games, but hear at its best, the lore is quite good
>Scott himself said the lore was getting to unmanageable, so throwing purple guy into the mix of the new game would be rediculous. Scott has a chance to start NEW lore and I hope he takes it, not tries to merge it with the old stuff.
That seems to be the way a lot of games are going these days.
Probably because autists discuss them to death, throwing out hundreds of different possibilities and head canons. To the point where developers say, "you know what? Fuck you! The next game is going to be a pachinko. Enjoy faggot!"
Hey
Yea. The director posts pics of the stuff he's working with on Twitter. Everything he's shown is just for inspiration right now, but it definately has the tone right
the game theory videos are pretty solid till the FNAF 4 videos where he just kinda drops the ball all over the place
>IT WAS ALL A DREAM GUYS
Its a solid children's horror franchise
Seriously everyone forgets its for kids
cool idea, milked to hell
horrible fanbase
Show me a fanbase that isn't absolute garbage.
I mean we never saw an original Canon model. Spring Bonnie never got one either, we saw springtrap but never just normal spring Bonnie. Golden Freddy is apparently a spring suit or Fredbear, maybe both but the hat and tie don't match.
Street Fighter?
A literal nightmare a kid is having.
Yeah but Five Night's is one of those fanbases that's worse than bad.
let me rephrase
fanbase that's abnormally worse than other vidya's fanbases
I really wish Scott had been bolder. In the novel he's a bit more unrestrained, talking in gruesome detail on just how the springlocks tear up your organs, leaving you to drown in your own blood. If he had incorporated some of that into the actual game, it would've probably been scarier.
I don't blame him him for milking that cow while he can, but it's still getting into annoying tier the amount of sequels he's doing.
at least with it being such a small dev team I know the money is at least going mostly to the right people.
Racing sims have good communities.
I hear kids talking about FNaF all the time whenever I go to Gamestop.
Flight sims.
I feel like Scott got overwhelmed by the sudden success.
I remember a pretty candid interview he did with a Christian gaming website and how he fought with depression after his first couple of games. Then suddenly bam, FNAF blows up and he gets thousands of fans and a fucking movie deal. Hopefully he learned his lesson after Freddy's World and starts to make the games he wants to make and doesn't give into the pressure.
America's Army fanbase.
I seriously hope you do not go to gamestop unironically.
>Thoughts
That design is shit and completely misses the first game's premise
>Kid's entertainment robots that become deadly at night
How fucking difficult is it?
I've never gotten the hate boner for Gamestop in this site
I get GS gift cards on my birthdays, so I might as well use them.
>Gamestop giftcards
Must be terrible getting such useless items for your birthday.
