I don't think you understood the question.

Basically yes. Or at least the father of the first stealth game that was done well.

what about thief?

I guess so, MG isn't really the first stealth game, the original wolfenstein probably is (no, not that wolfenstein, I mean the *atari* one), but his game did kickstart the genre.

Then in the late 90s I'd say it's safe to say Kojima became the father of "cinematic" games too.

Metal Gear predates thief by like, 11 years, my friend.

>Then in the late 90s I'd say it's safe to say Kojima became the father of "cinematic" games too.

But the series didn't become cinematic until MGS2, MGS1 has vey few cutscenes.

nope

>He's not but yeah

I know you need to praise him every 5 minutes or you explode but come on.

retard

You guys are retarded.

I'm almost positive that there had to be some degree of stealth game already out before Metal Gear, but there's no doubt he definitely solidified staples and standards.

pacman is the first stealth game.
>hide from spoopy ghosts

>I'm almost positive that there had to be some degree of stealth game already out before Metal Gear

There wasn't any, at least not games focused on stealth.

you must be 18+ to post on this board, sorry

When people refer to someone as "the father of X" they don't always mean that they're the creator or the inventor.

Example: Inafune is the "father of megaman" he didn't invent megaman.

Miyamoto is the "Father of Mario" - Mario was designed by Miyamoto *and* Yoichi Kotabe.

Ralph H. Baer was called "The Father of Videogames" didn't create the first videogame, etc. etc. etc.

What matters is early influence, trend setters, etc. Kojima didn't invent stealth games, but he influenced them in such a major impactful way that the ripples are still felt today, that's what makes him the father of stealth.

Just how stupid can one person be?

I can't think of anything that had a semblance of stealth before MSX MG, so I guess yeah. doesn't mean he should really be looked up to for stealth at this point though.

I'm going to save you some trouble and point out that you're referring to thief as being the first stealth game because it predates MGS, ignoring the fact that there had been metal gear titles since the late 80s.

That's why you're being made fun of. Calling into question someone's age when you can't remember past 98 is just even more embarrassing.

Kojima invented the stealth action game genre

>Metal Gear for MSX
1987
>Castle Wolfenstein
1981

no

Castle Wolfenstein was one if the earliest you retards.

He's the father of what's currently inside my belly.

Wolfenstein was mostly ignored, and also not really a "stealth" game. It was one of the first games that you could finish without fighting a single enemy but it wasn't really the focus of the game, at all. In fact there were no advantages to doing so.

But also this:

Is Kojima the father of hack developers?

My dick?

>scrolling through catalog
>see the top of OP pic
>immediately recognize it as Kojima's haircut
What the fuck.

shit

Metal gear was mostly ignored too. When people say kojima invented stealth they are referring to MGS, which is flat out wrong.

>When people say kojima invented stealth they are referring to MGS

And what makes you think that?

i think there was DOS stealth game before first MG called wolf something i can't remember but it was not full fledged stealth game like MG.

so yeah. Kojima definitely is father of modern stealth game

Thief codified stealth gameplay, so no.

>s Kojima the father of stealth games?
nope just pioneered it

>first Thief 1998
>first Metal Gear 1987

you are wrong user. fact. no hate

>thief as being the first stealth game because it predates MGS

Thief doesn't even predate MGS though, MGS1 was released in September 1998, while Thief Dark Project was released in November 1998.

Thief did it way better, so it gets the medal.

>AssC
>good stealth
hahaha

that's opinion not fact

Except we're discussing who did it first you colossal faggot.

No because he literally based MGS off Pacman

>release 11 years after first Metal Gear
>has better mechanic and technology

whoa. Who would've thunk?

He's the father of my wife's son

really makes you think..

>yfw nobody remembers Siphon Filter

It's OK.... It's not relevant to the question anyway.

First stealth game was 005 and castle wolfenstein, kojima then made mg1, unaware of those games at the time, and that's when stealth became a thing.
Stealth truly took off until mgs1 and thief came out though mgs1 is pretty much a 3d mg2 so it predates thief in a way.
Multiple series would then introduce different types of stealth, fps stealth, social stealth for hitman, splinter cell's stealth revolving around shadows, side scrolling, crowd stealth from ac etc
He might as well should be the father since he climbed that mountain after stealth was created, he redefined it, popularized it and influenced many games in the future, but those that truly created stealth are the grandfathers.

See We're not doing 'first' either, because MG was not the first.

SEGA made 005, which predates MG.
Infiltrator on the Atari predate MG.
Castle Wolfenstien also predates MG.

There is a couple of others, I think.

is his grammar broken? almost look like my writing....

PS: plz recommend me best grammar book

He's talking about that Rope book the trailer is influenced by.

He's Japanese, and I think it's someone else typing his tweets in English.

>Rope book the trailer is influenced by

The game will be influenced by the book, not just the trailer.

No, he confirmed it's him who type those tweets, Kojima knows english, he just choose not to use most of the time because he's ashamed of his accent.

>I think it's someone else typing his tweets in English.
Why would you assume this? It's obvious enough it's him from the engrish alone.

Thanks for clearing it up, didn't know for sure.

> idiots who didn't understand the question

Yes I would say Kojima is the father of modern stealth games. Before Metal Gear Solid 1 on the ps1.. there really wasn't even the concept of stealth games.

...

...

Depends on whether you consider the first Metal Gear to be a stealth game or just have stealth elements.

The first game to be completely based around stealth is probably still Bonanza Bros.

But then, who is the mother?

...

Dont talk to me or my twitter account ever again

...

>No, he confirmed it's him who type those tweets

Source? O thought it was a PR person or something

looks like two weren't enough

LFuckingMAO

Castle Wolfenstein invented stealth

>Castle Wolfenstein isn't exactly stealth, though
Neither is Metal Gear 1 or 2

He can be the father of my stealth games, if you know what I mean.

He's the father of my children.
