Implying you'd be able to actually tell if you were infected or not. Any hacker worth his salt would code the RAT himself and encrypt it.
If it isn't some widely known program weakness being exploited or a virus sold to or used by many people AV is pretty much useless in discovering it. Ask Sup Forums if you want to know more.

Just had to reformat my drives after being infected with a RAT and probably some other stuff along with it, took months before I noticed and only because they decided to actually do stuff with my computer which I noticed and knew I wouldn't have done.

By using GlassWire to monitor all incoming/outgoing connections I saw some shifty connections to a domestic ip.

I was likely infected by a friend who also had these same problems, don't think I would have noticed if I wasn't being a little paranoid and digging around. The reaction images set me off though, nuked my drives and did a fresh install of windows.

the dude with the rat was on some anti /mlp/ crusade and posted screencaps of the webcams of people who had it in their histories as well as their facebook passwords etc
the only passwords he could get at are the ones you store with chrome/firefox ect
overall real hero real human bean etc

Well that is just pure laziness, next time build one yourself, it'll probably be cheaper with better performance as well as no shovelware and bloat preinstalled.

Fuck them. My computer was shipped to me with a big fuckin dent and a stripped screwhole in the side panel. The box wasn't damaged either so they knowingly shipped it that way when I paid full price for it. One of the plastic bolts holding the window panel was missing too.

They also use refurbished/recertified parts without telling you.

I ordered an assembled PC from whats i picked a few years ago, and when it arrived and i opened it up, several fans weren't even connected and they used 4 1gb ram blocks instead of 2 2gb blocks like i ordered.

Assembled ones are also bad because the people assembling them may not give you the cables that come with the parts or replace valuable screws (like thumbscrews) with more generic ones.
