I'd love alternate routes and this one in particular sounds damn nice. I really liked Peko before playing the game but her personality was mediocre in-game and totally lost interest in her.

Considering that she barely functions as a character by herself, it's not surprising really.

I'd like to say that a what-if scenario where she does survive and is forced to find new meaning in her life isn't that irrational, but then this series is kinda weird with how it's characters develop. Some develop a fuckton, whereas others just don't develop at all despite surviving to the end of the game.

Peko's been raised her whole life to protect Fuyuhiko at all costs, and if she couldn't do that much, her worth as a person meant nothing. It's not just something as easy as having other characters keep her up like in Fuyuhiko's case where he learned to stop being so angry and to himself about things and try and open up to people and actually live life for the sake of the two women closest to him who had just fucking died.

In the case of Peko there would be none of that, she would've failed her job and there would be no one to tell her she's not a tool, it'd be exactly like the Ishida situation. Just because Hajime could approach Peko and try and snap her out doesn't mean it's magically gonna happen. She'd just be like 'You're a good friend, but you're not Bocchan' and sooner or later die. And unlike DR1, there is no Alter Ego to give her closure either, so to Pekohiko or anything to keep her going longer.

Yeah but the devs said they couldn't think of anything more than one, so it's just an overall pointless character that instills false hope to people who liked Kiyotaka or Mondo.

Unlike Fuyuhiko though, Peko isn't gonna stop just from being cut once, I'm pretty sure she'd be in mama bear mode and be trying to protect him or die trying.

Even in the odd case he does get through to her that she's not a tool, that doesn't mean he's just gonna stop loving him, so yeah I'm pretty much 100% sure if Fuyuhiko dies she'd want to die with him or commit sudoku for not even keeping the person closest to her alive.(Remember that Fuyuhiko tried to do it himself and failed for the same reasons, that and causing everyone trouble.)

The point I'm getting at is that Fuyuhiko telling her that she's not a tool would be easy enough to function as motivation for her to want to live in this hypothetical scenario (because Fuyuhiko essentially tells her to by saying this), even if she'd be conflicted about it. Moreso than her being told this and then ignoring this anyway and going down with Fuyuhiko like a tool.

Peko's already plenty interesting, and if you don't see it that way, then that's fine, you have your opinion. I just think a lot of people who don't see her as interesting is because a lot of her motivations, backstory and actions are intertwined with Fuyuhiko and it's difficult for them to be apart from each other, especially Peko. Thus people seem to just feel disinterested because she's already spoken for.

Her purple hime haircut contrasting with her petite white skin and her gorgeous purple eyes, I knew she was going to best girl. I purchased Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair for the PS Vita. I maxed out my relationship with her then chapter 3 came around the corner...

I like to believe fan canon trumps canon in all cases, Mikan wouldn't have done that she is best girl. When I read her execution, I cried, it's called "itainoitaino(other Japanese)". Itai translates to "it hurts" in Japanese, imagine Mikan, the most innocent girl and the sweetest girl I've ever met (I was bullied in school by girls) saying "it hurts", I couldn't bear it. I never got past chapter 4, I didn't want to play anymore. I'm glad she is alive and hopefully she will (always) be best girl in danganronpa 3
