Microsoft and Game Freak are developing a new IP, with Pokémon-like characters. They are planning to release the first game of this series, code-named MONSTERSEISEN, in the later half of 2017: however, it won't be Pokémon or Yokai clone, it will be a MOBA, exclusive for XBOne and Windows 10. It's Microsoft plan to enter the Asian videogame market.
They are also developing a single player, smaller companion game for smartphone and 3DS: code-named MONSTERGAIDEN, it will be a mix between Diablo and Monster Hunter: think a MH game with Diablo-lite gameplay. I'm part of the European translation team of this game and it will launch WW in Spring 2017. Everything should be officially revealed around September.

MS and Game Freak are both very keen to make this a multimedia franchise by 2018. In particular Game Freak want not to be seen anymore as only "the Pokémon team": Tembo was a small test, this is the first major step.

Blizzard has a big fanbase behind itself, that alone is almost enough to guarantee the success of a game released by them, at least from sales perspective. Few devs have this advantage.
