So Sup Forums, why is Battle Network so forgotten?
The original series is fondly remembered to the point that people gave $4,000,000 for a spiritual successor. The X series is also heralded as classic, praised endlessly by fans and critics alike. Even Legends, despite not having aged as gracefully (admit it, its controls are pretty clunky even by three-years-after-its release standards, and the 2D Mega Man games before it are far easier to pick up and play for the first time), almost got a new 8th gen installment with an absolutely massive fan outcry when it (and its kickstarter spiritual successor) got canned.
But despite being a commercial success, nobody outside of Sup Forums remembers Battle Network. You don't have any "critics" like Egoraptor or Bunnyhop make videos about it. You don't see it pop up on "top GBA games" lists like you see X or Legends for their systems, and definitely not for a lack of quality. You don't see anyone remark about how fucking fantastic and original its incredibly fun battle system was.
I'd love to see this series get acknowledged by anyone but it seems like it might only be remembered for being just another Mega Man spinoff series.
Battle Network Roll is best Roll, prove me wrong faggots, you cant.
Caleb Smith
Bullsiht. The encounter rate was pretty lenient. On top of that there's an item like Repel from BN2 onwards which stops random encounters entirely for a while.
Jordan Walker

Josiah Lewis
I fucking love this series. So many fond memories.
Henry Russell
But I agree
Jaxon Edwards
also i think the problem is the story. the story was pretty shit in all of them to begin with but the main problem is how old lan is. each game made him one year older. i'm pretty sure he was 9-10 in mmbn1 and 14-15 in mmbn6. they just couldn't keep going on with it like that. if anything we could hope for a spinoff or sequel with his son patch. mega man stays since hes a program. also as far as i know mmbn series is the only one with a definite ending. all other series are left somewhat open?
Xavier Parker
It was my favorite series on the gba next to pokemon. I'd love to see a new entry to the series. I tried starforce and it was unbearable
Jaxson Richardson
That's completely wrong.
BN1 starts with him being 11 years old in Grade 5. BN2 takes place over Grade 5's summer break. BN3 takes place at the end of Grade 5, with him graduating at the end and also has his birthday. Then BN4, 5 and 6 takes place when he's in Grade 6, and again at the end of BN6 he graduates to middle school.
Lucas Collins
3 > 2 > 6 > 5 > 1 > 4
Christopher Clark
2 > 3 > 6 > 1 > 5 > 4
Luis Hernandez
It's like you didn't play the game
Elijah Bailey
>No Zero Soul in the series
And what do you think of the liberation mission from BN5 ?
Ethan Peterson
I don't mind liberation.
Hudson Garcia
YEAH, 1-TURN LIBERATION
John Taylor
Battle Network is forgotten because 4 sank the series worse than any iceberg ever could. I'm not joking, look at the sales numbers.
Hudson Russell
I think I'm the minority here that prefer Battle Network than Megaman Zero games.
Ryder Hall
Its forgotten because it was the only MegaMan series to end and stay finished.
There's nothing really left to milk out if the series aside from HD remakes.
Landon Cruz
Oh I absolutely love the series but it's really no surprise the other Megamans would be better known. My only guess is it hasn't had enough time to build up nostalgia in people and purists are going to hate it anyway just like they hate Legends.
Thomas Green
What was wrong with 4? I never played it.
Asher Parker
>tfw loved Battle Network to death >tfw played BN6 release date, shed a manly tear when I saw "Battle Network E N D" post-epilogue >that excitement when I heard it was getting a spiritual successor
>mfw I saw gameplay of Star Force
I never played it out of pure disdain for that completely butchered battle system. What the FUCK were they thinking?
Carter Lopez
Worse than normal plot, bad scenarios, lack of actual dungeons, makes you go through the same net areas over and over and over, random scenario shuffling, you need to play through it three times to get all the 'content', dark chip system is meh, Souls are unbalanced, shit translation, people who met Lan last game forget that he exists, the list goes on.
Jason Turner
Never doubt Capcom's ability to milk. Well probably just get a new character if (never) they decide to bring it back.
Carson Parker
>paying attention to the story of an 11 year old boy there was absolutely nothing i could relate to about lan. the stories were shit. www was shit. gospel was shit. nebula was shit. the only redeeming factors for the series are the god tier music, gameplay and character designs. if youre playing any mega man game for the story then you are simply autistic.
Nolan Walker
Personally, the music somehow is worse. And you kinda have to restart the game from the start to get the post game content.
Other than that is okay. Hell you can finally battle Roll, green Navis, and purple evil looking Navis.
Lucas Jenkins
No no, what you complaining about was >but the main problem is how old lan is then you proceed to talking out of your ass like you didn't even read the story.
After that you claimed the stories were shit, and everything is shit. No one's going to take you seriously, man.
Anthony Scott
>gospel was shit >implying
Kidnapping, bombings, killing their failed operatives, genociding a country, the largest scale attack on SciLab in the series, organizing all the top Netbattlers in one meeting in an attempt to kill them in a castle full of death traps, crashing a plane...
Gospel was by far the most threatening organization and every scenario of BN2 was fun as fuck thanks in part to them.
Robert Gonzalez
i'm not taking a pedophile like you seriously either
Jeremiah Perry
The entire game is nothing but tournament arcs. You also need to play through the game at least three times to get all the souls.
James Allen
>Ability to milk With 90% of its franchises dead and buried, I don't think they can milk anything other than Street Fighter DLC.
Joshua Flores
>waaah we only got 6 games
Landon Gonzalez
Wat
Thomas Reed
Original series has 10 games and X has like 9 and people still want more games for those.
Christian Bell
Anyone else think the Lan/MegaMan being brothers]/spoiler] reveal was really a stroke of genius? I know the story matters little in these games but it just made every climactic moment feel more personal.
Alexander Mitchell
Nah star force is the megaman deserving the title "forgotten"
Evan Lopez
yea
Jordan Collins
These games were the shit, except for 4 which was boring. I don't think there is much to talk about. I think the one notable thing about it is that it's the one series that actually god trading card battle system in an ARPG right. I credit this to the battle grid allowing for cards to attack different angles and ways, rather than card systems where they'd just be attacks with different effects on a regular field.
I also remember the online fandom being pretty bad. My girlfriend was way too into the series at the time the games were coming out. I played all 6 games, but never really cared about any of those forums. She was a mod on one and I remember the two rockman.exe forums were pretty bitter towards each other even though they were the same fucking nerds on both boards.
Luis Perry
Your loss, memester. Star Force 3 was frankly the best game and surpassed BN3/6.
Nicholas Cox
I came to post this. I liked the first 2 despite their flaws, but when they finally found their groove in star force 3 they stop making them.
Logan Watson
This.
BN2 was superior to all of the games, including 3, the tryhard, Folderbak'ing piece of shit.
Mason White
BN has a dedicated fanbase that has dwindled out since there was no games. It's not as iconic as the original, yeah, but no Mega Man spinoffs are, not even X.
And even then it's just people fellating Mega Man 2. So who gives a shit what public thinks? The franchise is dead anyway. WE remember. That's all that's important.
Jace Cooper
Story: 3 > 2 >= 6 > 5 > 1 > 4
Overall 3 >= 6 > 2 >= 5 > 1 (replaying, when you remeber net) > 4 >> 1 (when you dont know/remember net)
I liked them all though. Even 4 with dark chips, 3 tournaments for story and really annoying and boring parts.
Joseph Gonzalez
StarForce 3 is legit good, but I'd still rank it lower than MMBN2, 3 or 6. 1 is bad, 2 is meh. Fuck those 'bro' points.
Justin Collins
SF1 has legit the best storyline in any of those games.
Lincoln Miller
>So Sup Forums, why is Battle Network so forgotten?
>6 games and an anime series >Forgotten
Pick one and shut up
Ayden Gomez
>best selling Mega Man series
Nah, it's the most remembered to the GBA generation as well. Also had a fairly popular anime.
Nicholas Wood
tfw when I've only played the first two
Brandon Thomas
>Yfw Megaman is literally a dead fetus
Luke Nelson
OP specifically said forgotten relative to the other major commercially successful Mega Mans. >reading comprehension
Levi Butler
But, user, the anime of this megaman series have more than 200 episodes.
Oliver Rivera
It's not about how much it was advertised or what merchandise and other material it had.
It's about it being remembered as a great game in its own right.
Skylanders has tons of merchandise and tie-ins but it'll never be remembered as anything more than a mediocre video game series no matter how much money it makes.
Andrew Anderson

There's no good hentai of Haruka.

I comprehended just fine. What he said was stupid.
Joseph Martin
>3 above 2 >6 above 3 or 2 It's time to stop.
John Peterson
>no one will ever bother making semi-mmo
Oliver Jenkins
6 is underrated. As far as progression structure goes it's probably the most solid game of them all. And no bullshit like compression program.
I liked them as a preteen, but the characters and story are definitely suited to their target audience. It's kinda hard to feel invested in this particular series as an adult when it's about a schoolboy and his toy robot program (that's his dead brother or something? I don't remember the weird plot that well).
I wouldn't say it didn't age well, but that its audience leaves it behind.
Blake Kelly
>As far as progression structure goes it's probably the most solid game of them all Really? I guess so. Even 3 had some bullshit segments.
Nicholas Turner
>So Sup Forums, why is Battle Network so forgotten? You mean Star Force.
Jackson Hall
>there are people who unironically thought 3 was better than 6
literally how
Liam Evans
It has tons of filler though.
>lol swim for all these fish >'go back to the furthest point in Beach Area/Green Area' segments, basically more 'backtrack to last point of internet' than 2 and 3
Benjamin Garcia
Is there anything we can do?
Start a petition/kickstarter to get a remake collection / 7 or a spinoff?
Mason Scott
Accept your death
David Ramirez
Hell, I'll even take a fucking mobile game
Bentley Harris
Loved this series. 6 is probably my favourite and a nice finish to it. The Cross and Beast systems make the battles interesting. I'm also probably one of the few that enjoyed the liberation missions in 5. Also think while still good, 3 is massively overrated.
Also the Starforce games aren't that bad. Well, 2 is shit but 3 is good.
Joseph Roberts
>people gave $4,000,000 for a spiritual successor Wait what? Someone link me on the details, I'm interested.
Kayden Baker
Mighty No.9 dude
Gabriel Sanchez
3/10 bait got me to reply
Isaac Hill
But that wasn't a spiritual successor to Battle Network...
Oh, I understand now. Sorry, not my first language.
Nicholas Anderson
You honestly want a megaman game from today's capcom? Everything they've done with him was just another way to shit on fans.
Elijah Harris
Why are people mad about boxart Mega Man again? I thought it was fucking hilarious
Michael Watson
this desu.
Thomas Richardson
>tfw X is your favorite series but you also love Battle Network >Nobody to play/discuss with because is not "muh Megaman" I'm kinda glad the franchise is dead, those kind of people doesn't deserve anything else.
Isaac Cooper
>I thought it was fucking hilarious That's the point.
Gabriel Morales
When they did the joke with MegaMan online was fine, but then they canceled all the MegaMan games and they pulled that joke again it was like it was done to pissed off the fans.
Liam Hill
But this list is correct. It's time for YOU to stop
Wyatt Sanders
I wouldn't mind an X thread. I've only played 1-3 and a little bit of 6 though. I need to get about to playing the PS1 X games.
Nathan Davis
Because it was a shit series. So was Star Force.
Zero was a great series that has no reason to be forgotten, on the other hand. That's more of a tragedy than fucking Battle Network.
Adam Baker
I was mostly referring to Battle Network, nobody wants "the pokemon megaman games". But at least the BN threads are always chill as fuck unlike regular Megaman threads full of raging faggots arguing which series was better.
Nathan Howard
Its probably cause mega man looked different, he had an anime, the setting and theme was completely different, it was a handheld only series, and it was a RPG. They were awesome but probably too different for a lot people.
Josiah Jones
>That entire post
Carter Moore
Zero was decent for what it was. It was stylish, very challenging and fast-paced but didn't really break new ground like Battle Network did.
BN is the far better series than Edgy Mega Man X due to being more novel, having significantly deeper gameplay with far more customization and replay value.
Adrian Price
Started replaying them recently. >Started and beat BN3 on the day of BN's 15th Anniversary.
Recently finished MegaRock's BN6 patch for Falzar. Working on the endgame now. Just got my S mark for 200 Standards. That was a grindfest.
Zachary Moore
Get the megaman x collection on ps2 it has 1 - 6 and a racing game. 7 and 8 were on the ps2
Easton Sullivan
3 was fucking great and had an amazing post game, prove me wrong.
Liam Fisher
>BN's 15th Anniversary What day was that?
Joshua Ward
The series was builsing momentum in popularity until bn4 came out and the series never completely recovered. What confuses me about bn4 is why did they feel a need to reset the character interaction. Like whatever the fire guys name was just waltzes past lan and wow its fucking nothing.
James Harris
>Every pokemon game
Henry Martin
March 21st. Hell of a day.
Zachary Powell
>What confuses me about bn4 is why did they feel a need to reset the character interaction THey seemed to do that a lot in 4 but fixed it in 5. I remember when the team starts to form and Chaud outright states that because o0f your fucking up WWW Gospel you deserve a spot on the team.
Noah Harris
It had 6 games and they clealry had run out of ideas after 3, I'd say it had successful course. No matter how good something is there is a limit to how much you can beat it into the ground. It's not forgotten so much as "complete"
Sebastian Miller
For anyone interested, here's the arranged album for the 15th anniversary.
Most of it is really good but a couple are really ruined by being super techno remixes where the original song is drowned out.
>mfw that ACDC Town remix
Parker Barnes
The lack of character knowledge was something that was hit or miss with throughout the whole series. I think you're referring to Mr. Match, and that was one of the few characters they actually kept interaction up with throughout all of the games. But Tamako, Metalman's operator, was completely forgotten between 3 and 4. That's just one to mention, but they kept doing it, and I agree it was frustrating.
