Do you like it when TV shows reference video games?
Do you like it when TV shows reference video games?
POORLY CODED
No, except for rare cases where they do it right.
But most of the time it's shit like Dexter playing halo on pc, or that law and order episode with videogames
>its just a hard drive full of games
>Press Open
>It attacks
Shit game wouldn't play
I like this because it was literally OOT but I don't like it when Roseanne has Mario sound effects and they say "oh the skeleton exploded" or Zoey 101 with the game marathon of the super space shooter and it's like "HOLY SHIT DUDE YOU'RE NEARLY AT LEVEL 100" and the power goes out
Speaking of which, whatever happened with that shitty Dan Schneider show about female video game devs
That episode was the best. That Napoleon part killed me.
No.
I remember when video games were seen as toys for kids.
Now we have assholes on the big bang theory saying shit like "this is harder than the water temple in zelda!" as he tries to talk to a girl.
I liked the interview about this episode. Apparently all the guys brought in their n64s into work and just played this for a week or two.
>character is shown playing FPS on PC
>both hands on keyboard
>le navi so annoying meme
Do people just pretend to be so pissed off? I replayed the game and it's not even that bad.
Some shows do it right

This. I played tyh game for the first time a few years ago and i didn't mind at all
Why were you watching Zoey 101?
i don't like anything
The Simpsons game did it decently
The voice for sonic was humorous
>I played the remastered version project 64
In the original release she says "Hey!" every three fucking steps.
I like it when TV shows are good. sometimes a reference to a thing can be funny, other times it doesn't belong. this can happen with a reference to a video game, movie, book, celebrity, or other TV show.
there's nothing "special" about video game references that makes me more interested in a show, or more angry when it's not a funny joke.
What game is it?
NINTENDO
SIXTY FOUR
Nope the original it's really not bad she says hey like 2 or 3 times a dungeon
>i don't like anything
This post alone should be a banner
The girls were cute I guess?
EMULATOR
>powering through story mode
Yeah that's why. If you do side quests, she doesn't shut the fuck up because you're supposed to be saving the world, not gathering heart pieces.
OH MY GOD
Recently found this was an homage to the team not getting their work done back when the show started because they were all playing OoT
This show is soooo epic
Like, HELLA epic dude
>he didn't play doom
No, because they never get it right and it makes me upset.
>watching Zoey 101
Did that chick get prego by some black kid
What a way to ruin your career
Who? the PPF team?
caught me off guard
Doom has had mouselook since the initial DOS release so you're just gimping yourelf by not using one
You do realize that if they do get it "right" for a game they're not actually allowed to show, they'll be sued to hell and back, right?
There was an episode of Breaking Bad where Jesse was playing the game Rage, but with a light gun. Not only does it never use a light gun attachment but the onscreen stuff wasn't matching what he was pantomiming with the controller.
And let's not forget that recent cereal commercial of the couple playing Mario and going "YEAH! YEAH!!!!" and it cut to the gameplay and it was literally the opening of level 1 that the AI plays itself when you idle on the screen too long.
>implying the example of the OP isn't goat
Good.
when they do it well
great episode
I don't really watch TV, but when I do and if I see a reference it's usually just "Oh hey, that's (video game)"
>that ending
eternal kek
>neo Sup Forums
The first time you play the game you just want to explore and do your own thing. You don't just plow through knowing everywhere to go.
No.
Because every television writer think videogames are just Atari 2600 graphics, Holodeck VR that dont use headsets or GTA clones
>Pixelshit
>VR
>GTA clones
Explain to me how this is wrong
Leave Zoey alone, Nickelodeon's fun
>The director of GF episodes is a man that upload pictures de cowboys raping women in his deviantart
That game was based off of Primal Rage. I used to love that episode and though the game was made up.
When I saw Primal Rage in the shop one day my eyes lit up knowing it was the game Dexter based that episode on. One of the greatest moments of my life.

Spaced is GOAT
why is it so hard to do proper representations in tv
its always
>Hackers
sociopath fucks with blocky laptops and a nice layout with process bars on everything you just have to run through some folders and click it and youre automatically "cracking" it
>Gamers
Nerds, playing games with absolutely fucking retarded titles for both the videogame and the console, 8 bit noises on ps2 era graphics games, copyright hell so can never directly reference vidya
>Niggers
Normal people
Who, Alex?
I don't think that's true
Don't a lot of people who animate cartoons usually make porn?
Everyone who draws will draw porn eventually
>charlies angels with drew barrymore, cameron diaz and lucy liu
>kids playing two player coop
>they are playing FFVIII
DARN FAIRY
I wish video games never went mainstream.
Don't say I didn't warn you.
>16 core with a 10 meg pipe
>"Is MaxDestructo your gaming handle?"
>"You hold the high score in virtually every massively multiplayer online role playing game!"
...
This guy still manages to get so many jobs
No, references trigger me
Hollywood doesn't understand any tech that's newer than them.
Tighten up the graphics on level 2.
>My mom said I would never get ANYWHERE with these games!
>implying
My sister watched Suite Life, Zoey 101 and ICarly because she was that age - I was way too old to be into that
That being said holy shit Sam from ICarly is my waifu
now that you mention it, aside from Watamote's Death Note parody I've never seen characters using the mouse
>I played the remastered version project 64
What the fuck are you talking about, autismo?
Those GameFly commercials make me cringe.
>kid comes to the door dressed as a monkey, Megaman, Link.
>Comes to the door dressed as Master Chief.
>"Oh, look who grew up."
>Teen answers the door as James Bond, a soldier, Master Cheif
>Comes to the door dressed as Tetris Blocks
>"Oooh, going Retro? I like it."
but there was a halo on pc u retard
That's neat
for the uh plot
>Hey dude, remember, two in the pink, up to the elbow in the stink.
is this why there are zero game devs from massachusetts or texas today? imagine if they knew the impact their decision would have on the future
Not halo 3, you retard.
What's wrong with people from Texas or Massachusetts?
>tfw i stopped playing it before reaching the water temple
>many years later i picked up again to finally beat it
>didn't know where the fuck to go
>"let's wait for navi to tell me then, since she's "annoying""
>erased the save file and start again, beat the game and even then she talked to me like 3 times
what the fuck did i do wrong i get a laugh everytime i tried to ask for ganon's weakspot right after the "i will help you no matter what!"
Why wasn't she the main character? She was much better looking and had nicer tits than the flat slut they had in charge.
I used to like it, but when video games got more mainstream in the previous gen I stopped liking it. The strangest one I remember was Jesus saying he's been "playing a little Call of Duty" since his second coming on Family Guy. I also remember a random ass episode of some reality show called Run's House that I happened to see skipping through channels and landing on MTV. Some kid stared at a stuffed animal and then Saria's Song started playing. I can't find a clip online anymore.
>it means open your enemies
I'm always confused as to why it's so hard to get right. Especially shit like a PS2 controller but playing an NES game or something like that. A lot of these shows like BrBa for example are so meticulous with details too that it makes it kinda jarring.
That's Paul Robertson.
He did do the pixel art for the video game episodes, but he wasn't a director for the show.
He also did the stuff for Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Mercenary Kings, and Anamanaguchi.
>9gag watermark
>tfw i miss navi
>jesse playing rage
oh god i had already blocked that out
Since the games before that had no handholding, having any at all was incredibly annoying. It's obvious people were legitimately annoyed by Navi, since in the next game the fairy didn't talk at all but just made bike noises.
>Gears of War 3
>"How do I shoot?"
>"Press X."
ACTUALLY, ITS EXACTLY THE SAME
that's halo 2 tho
>halo 2
>assault rifle
>episode where their stuff gets stolen
>shaldor names off all the games they lost
>literally every majorly successful console game and nothing else
>LOL WE LIKE GAMES ARENT WE SUCH NERDS XDDD
Gumball and Steven universe do lots of video game references. Usually subtle and too. Not cringey like your average live action show.
It still going, as far as I know.
I can't get over that commercial god damn.
>jump over goomba
>AW YEAAAAAHHHHH OOOHHHH WHHOOAAAAA
>ha ha, I understood that reference!
No.
>You just killed your own fairy.
I wish.
>Hello, Warden? I need a babysitter. Yes yes full pardon.
I love it.
I used to, this reference was great because OoT is the greatest game ever made.
