What went wrong?

What went wrong?

Nothing. It's a great game with TONS of replayability.

You couldn't git gud

Retards that don't know how to figure out how to play a video game

1. It looked like ass even for Wii U standards so it scared children away

2. The control scheme was frustrating and annoying so it scared casuals away

3. The levels were uninspired because of the forced limitations of the control scheme so it scared fans away

Nintendo managed to fuck all three of their major demographics in a single swift movement. This game is the most beautiful form of garbage that will be used as a constant reminder to anyone that tries to talk to Nintendo about a new StarFox game.

worser than 643D

>limits of controls
We're talking about Zero, not 64.

FoxMcCloud, you're the only retard that'd say that. There's a guy who calls himself this, he's a massive autist about this game

fpbp

This man speaks the truth. Good 50 hours of it, where 12 or so were to achieve all the medals and scores, then the rest of replays, arcade and co-op with friends.

643D had control options at least, not Zero, nor Command.

There just aren't enough levels. The Gyrowing is a piece of shit, they should've cut that and added more on rails levels.
Also, can't really defend them copy pasting so many levels, like how they used the asteriod belt twice.
Its a good game at its core, controls are solid, the game just doesn't take advantage of what it could do.

...

>"/thread"ing yourself
I wish summer would leave.

>/threading with a meme image
>people complain about Zero being too much like 64 and this image argues it had to be even more like 64 to be enjoyable
>there's only ONE level of gyrowing
>he still complains

The controls ARE good, though. I can't really get into 64 as much as I used to because of them. It's just too constrained.

Sup Forums traffic is always normal during the summer

Doesn't say much since 64 is the best game in the series. Zero at least comes second and while it's disappointing that it's so much in the shadow of 64 (both storywise and qualitywise), for fans it's at least better than all the bullshit we got inbetween then and now. The issue is that there aren't very many fans of Star Fox left at this point, and the game did nothing that could attract a new audience.

It's been posted in previous threads you fuckwit.

Have you gone back to play 643D? After playing Zero i kinda wish the older games had gyro, pretty great once you git gud

The controls work fine.

...

>Doesn't say much since 64 is the best game in the series.
Zero is an ugly version of 64

at least 643D had everything, like Area fucking 6 and multiplayer

Well...that was quick.

It was too star fox for the masses and the new control scheme scared people who were afraid to try a new control scheme.

Yeah, everyone pretty neatly wrapped up why the game is fine and haters are full of shit, as Sup Forums often is.

>Have you gone back to play 643D?
yeah, i still prefer proper controls. not gyro shit.

Uprising touch screen controls didn't convince me that Command's controls are okay either

shitpost about it all you want Zero is still the best game in the series since 64 and blows Adventures, Assault and Command out of the fucking water in terms of gameplay quality

...

I don't exactly get what you mean, my post agrees with the notion that Zero is worse than 64. I wasn't making any distinction between 64 and 64 3D if that's what it looked like. 3D is better even on the remade graphics alone.

So you refused to get used to these control schemes even though they provide more accuracy and better response times than regular analog and face buttons.

Dude, it's literally a matter of learning something new in five minutes. Or do you honestly just want some instant gratification game that will award you just for pressing the jump button?

Spotted the buyers remorse fag

Miyamoto shoved the gamepad down people's throats. I get where he's coming from, he want people to try it out, but when you force it people will like it even less. They should've allowed more controller options, like the wii remote and the pro controller.

>The issue is that there aren't very many fans of Star Fox left at this point

No, there are plenty of those. It's just that none of them bought this piece of shit because they knew from the first reveal how bad it was going to be. The real Star Fox fans are waiting for the series to move forward instead of retreading 64 for the umpteenth time.

The only people actually defending this game are diehard Nintendo apologists and SF64 purists who essentially only want level packs for the same game we've already played to death. I bet if Nintendo released more missions for Zero via DLC you'd see a bunch can of threads about how the game was "fixed" despite its myriad of other problems.

Not him, but the buyer's remorse I have is entirely on Adventures and Command (haven't bought Assault so I don't know if I'd like it). Well, maybe not so much Adventures but that's because I was younger and it was technically just the third Star Fox game (second for me since I didn't own the SNES original) so I didn't really have set expectations on how the series should be like.

>Play first 3-4 stages.

Shit nigga this is fun as fu-

>That gyrocopter Zoness level.

Whoever thought that should have been in the game needs to be kicked in the nuts.

Overall it was pretty fun, though, I really liked having the ability to gyro aim and maneuver independently. There's just absolute fuck-all for worthwhile unlockables, and most people don't give a shit about collecting medals.

Star Fox Guard is more fun than Zero so far.

The one thing that pisses me off about this game is how good things like the dog fights are but the constant decision to implement awful fucking platform controls and stealth levels.

This had potential to be a GREAT title but instead it gathers dust underneath my couch.

Fuck star fox zero. Its so insulting because it has the potential to be good but decided not to be.

and you wonder why their isn't a lot of people haven't hop on Zero

they're trying to sell a fucking game here, Miyamoto, let people have to option to play the game normally. even Splatoon has it.

Nah I've gotten plenty of play time out of it, enjoyed it a lot and will probably play it more in the future just like I replay 64 and 643D pretty often.
The only people who can't git gud at the gyro controls are the same people who can't parallel park. i.e. women and nu males

I hope that's the truth about the series having plenty of fans still. I personally think there'll need to be many new fans drawn in for future games to truly be successful (which can be done by adding content with wider appeal), but I guess we'll see.

The dog fights are the best in the series.

Listen annon. You can cry about casuals and how other people need to git gud, but that doesn't change the fact that the game sold like shit because people generally didn't like the controls.

You have to live with that and git gud at accepting the truth.

>that dissonance when a game you love is shit on by everyone else to the point that fucking image macros are made about it

Who the fuck makes this shit?

>The real Star Fox fans are the people who like Adventures, Assault, and Command
Fuck off already, you guys were always a vocal minority no one likes your shit games more than the traditional Star Fox games.

>entire Andross fight is chicken walker
>this is literally untrue
>for some reason he keeps spamming this image
okay

Except thats bullshit and you know it.

>Unlike Splatoon, it's not accurate, 3rd persons accuracy is deliberately made to be shit
>Using first person though makes it more accurate, puts you in a huge disadvantage
>The gyro somehow has to be calibrated more frequently due to this
>Aonuma confirmed the gamepad is shit, as you could see how Zeros dual screen mechanic proves his point on looking at your gps on yor lap would cause a car accident

The general public has absolute dog shit for taste, I've known this for a while. It doesn't affect my enjoyment of Star Fox Zero

>Zero is still the best game in the series since 64 and blows....Assault....but of the fucking water in terms of gameplay quality
>(haven't bought Assault so I don't know if I'd like it)
nice shitpost fag

>>entire Andross fight is chicken walker
>>this is literally untrue

>Being forced out for a few seconds of spam somersault to not die somehow means its not true

>The real Star Fox fan
Shut the fuck up

two different people retard, he even said that

This is true, but it will kill any prospect for a sequel.

Playing devil's advocate here, but I suspect most of the reason why the Gamepad doesn't do anything in BotW is simply because the Wii U can't run the game at the fidelity they wanted with something else being constantly streamed to/displayed on the Gamepad. It's the same reason why Tropical Freeze is like that too and it's not like people complained about the Gamepad utilization in WWHD/TPHD (it was praised actually). Not saying that Aonuma isn't right about it potentially disrupting gameplay, but just having the map or item selection on it isn't anything like what Star Fox Zero does.

>THE CONTROLS ARE GREAT YOU'RE JUST A CASUAL
No. Getting used to bad controls doesn't make you hardcore, it makes you a masochist.

if the next Punch-Out game had to be controlled standing on your head looking away from the TV using mirrors taped to your knees to look at the screen and only using your nose and tongue to use the controller, that's not good controls that are hard to get used to, it's just retarded.

which is why the lack of online multiplayer of any kind is something that just kills me.

>le ebin hyperbole face :^)

The controls aren't even that difficult though. Why do you think they're so hard? You can set it to where taking your finger off the fire button resets the target reticle. You shouldn't even use the gyro most of the time, its only there for that 10% of time when you need precise aiming. You shouldn't be flailing your arms around like a retard while playing.

I didn't write

Nigger assault was fun on a goddamn bun and way better then this shit.

>I replay 64 and 643D pretty often.

You're that manchild that constantly posts your scores and other dumb shit about the game nobody cares about, aren't you?

No I don't do that.

This really.

Control scene grew on me eventually, my main problem was how the level structure was set up and that bird boss is a shit.

when are you NOT shooting in this fucking game? That option is completely worthless.

And the gyro aiming just sucks. It just fucking sucks. I said it with Skyward Sword and I'll say it here: If your control scheme requires its own dedicated recalibration button, scrap the entire fucking game.

I got used to the controls rather quickly and enjoyed playing most of the vehicles. For me the far greater sins were having jack shit for unlockables, that joke of a multiplayer mode and forcing audio through the gamepad.

>Who the fuck makes this shit?
someone who played Zero

what? you're gonna assume some retard made the Other M infograph too? it's already a known fact that game had shit controls and no-nunchucks because Sakamoto wanted to try appease the nostalgic Metroid fans. (which he reported back saying it failed to.)

oh boy it's clearly those evil nu-male SJWs shitting on Zero!

Assault was trash, it had like 3 on-rails levels.
>b-b-but the multiplayer!!!
no one plays Star Fox for multiplayer, if you want good multiplayer play a different game, its like playing SA2 for the Chao garden
Do you not play Splatoon?

Spotted the Assaultbabby
Assault was my first Starfox, 64 and Zero are just better

Its a pretty big portion of the game fight. And you literally have to fight Star Wolf right before Andross anyway and the last section of the Andross fight is in the arwing, not chicken walker, even if it is pretty short.

Literally just having the OPTION to use a normal control scheme would fixed most of it.

But then they made it so that boss fights would be basically impossible without the scheme it has.

I can only hope not, only one fucker does this, and he's a collosal autist about his opinions, enough that he'll delete and block you if you disagree with him.

He's not hard to miss, he calls himself FoxMcCloud

Well I liked Zero and you're not gonna change my mind

Sorry big bad Shiggy molested your testicles

>delete and block you
Have you forgotten we're on Sup Forums?

Nintendo made a video game

Splatoon's gyro worked completely differently than SF0's and it worked much better.

Even then I preferred playing with just the sticks.

>I got used to the controls rather quickly and enjoyed playing most of the vehicles. For me the far greater sins were having jack shit for unlockables, that joke of a multiplayer mode
Results of rushed development cycle. They should've at least had Guard as a mode in Zero and heavily tied with it in terms of unlocking things rather than as a separate game or just delayed it yet again for a couple months in order to add a real expert mode. Won't mention things like making more stages because that'd obviously be too much for a short delay.

that's fine

already knowing not many bought 643D and Command, Zero won't have that many attached to it either.

shiggy is a niggy xDDD how do i greenteckst pls help i am not newfag? ive ben heer all month
>xD greentext correctly????//???

I don't need a sequel to Zero, if that's what you're inferring

SF0 is a legitimate 3/10 shit game, and that's me adding a point because it came with a much better game.

When miyamoto called the game a cinematic experience last year, I immediately lost interest. Not even a delay could fix this shitty game, and it only proves that Miyamoto has lost it. But of course the nintendrones and miyamotodrones will defend it, even though you can buy the 3DS remake for 20$ cheaper and with optional motion controls. there's no need to rehash an overrated meme game everyone is sick and tired of, and the sales of this game speak for itself. N64 nostalgiafags and Miyamoto have killed this series, and unless someone else competent can fix this mess of a franchise, it will stay dead

>Defending Shiggy
>When Aonuma blew his ass right the fuck out with BotW saying the gamepad gimmick is shit
>Rumor is Aonuma got complete control of Zelda, and Shiggy ruined Star Fox Zero with his gimmicky shit because he couldnt force it on Zelda He was responsible for Skyshit Swords shitty motion controls

>Assaultbaby
I played the SNES one first.
>no one plays Star Fox for multiplayer

Are you kidding me? That was me and my friends shit back in the day

To be fair, Guard was included in the $60 version and had like 100 stages of its own, plus outright forcing people to go through both the gyrocopter AND Slippy-infested camera defense stages in the main game probably would have pissed people off more than having them separate.

Miyamoto created Star Fox and Miyamoto taketh it away. Maybe Sakurai can get on it next and give it the Kid Icarus Uprising treatment.

>a much better game
Guard is fucking shit, Luigi. Where did this retarded contrarianism come from?

Funny you praise Aonuma, because for the past five years Malstrom and his cronies have touted him as the cancer killing Zelda, but now it's apparently Shiggy's fault because it's cool to hate him now

>no one plays Star Fox for multiplayer,

Then explain why everyone complained Zero lacked it?

No fuck that, I want EXACTLY SF64 again, or at least something like Starfox 2. That's the problem, they don't know how to make that. Every time they fuck it up by trying something different.

not him, buy mii/v/erse shitters always lurk on Sup Forums daily

Zero sold badly and Star Fox is dead. The end.

Go back to Tumblr, I know who you are

>motion controls on a game where you have only ever had stick
>motion controls dont really add anything and actually just make the game harder to play
>those spy missions that were basically watered-down Sly Cooper

The game wasnt BAD, but it's not something that I'm going to be rushing home to play again.

Zero is Shiggy's last chance to revive Star Fox
and he even told people to buy at least 643D so he can put Star Fox Wii into process.

Guard has sensible controls that aren't uncomfortable and terrible and it actually plays like a video game.

Nah, I meant having Guard as its own separate mode inside Zero, not putting it in the main game. Would've at least given the impression of better value to the average gamer who goes by reviews since Guard would've been talked about in Zero reviews and influenced the score instead of having separate reviews.

kek

>no one plays Star Fox for multiplayer
Because no other Star Fox game has good multiplayer. 64's was tediously boring and Command's was broken. And of course Zero has none.
>SA2 for the Chao garden
I'm confused, are you making a point for or against Assault?

>and it actually plays like a video game
A shit game

Direct-i is worser and more useless than fucking annoying ass Tricky

you don't even need him to fucking hack the computer or the Gigarilla.
