Is there any games that are like this one?

Is there any games that are like this one?

All I can think of is Puzzle Agent.

I like the random as fuck puzzles that those games pull out of their asses.

Layton series generally has great music.

Even the remixes are pretty tasty.

>was happy the Layton series ended nicely
>but now I miss it

Goddammit, I need to replay all of the games sometime.

This will always be my favorite character theme of all time.

Depends on which ending you mean. Original trilogy had a pretty good end, even if some of the bullshit was hard to swallow. Meanwhile, prequel trilogy wasn't entirely bad, but the twists it had definitely weren't taken well by everyone.

The ending to both trilogies are sad for different reasons. The ending to the original was sad just because it was sad, and prequel's was sad because at the end you're driving to the Curious Village, reminding me that this is the last game in the series.

Fuck man I just want to solve some utterly bullshit puzzles again.

This thread

reminds me of a puzzle

Still, the twists about Layton's past in the prequels were pretty dumb and made his history a bit too convoluted.

holy shit. why haven't i heard about this yet?

I honestly hope they will do a sequel. There's a lot of potential with AA and PL crossing over. Just need to make sure the puzzles are more challenging, and the court cases are more exciting.

Dai Gyakuten Saiban is the sequel, they just replaced Layton with the actual Sherlock Holmes. They even kept almost every other feature like one-day cases, multiple witness testimonies, comparing testimonies and pressing a different witness when they react to the one that's currently testifying.

...

That seems unlikely since the game is about Wright's ancestor, wouldn't make any sense to include Layton in something like that.

Fucking pisses me off it won't get localized, since I loved Vs. and you can tell that so much effort goes into these games. Capcom USA goes full NOT MUH PHOENIX though.

Also, I really wish Doctor Lautrec wasn't a slog to play, it's pretty nice and made by Zone of the Enders staff.

I meant in a conceptual way, not literally. It's basically a retooled sequel to the crossover, they just changed the characters and the setting (somewhat, it's also England for the most part). Layton is dead anyway. ;_;

It's annoying, but at least it's not best game in the series-tier like AAI2 was (thank goodness for the godly fan translation of that).

Well there's always the Layton Brothers, if they haven't forgotten entirely about it.

Or the card game that the "7th" game has become.

>Layton Brothers
That came out before Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney and Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy. It's dead.

>Or the card game that the "7th" game has become.
Likely cancelled since such a simple concept should've come out ages ago. You can safely say it's gone if it's a no-show at this year's Level-5 Vision.

I'd love to play another game like Layton Brothers. It's one of the few mobile games I know of that uses the free to start method too, which I like.

It's still available on mobile stores, so I doubt they've completely abandoned it. And they still seem to be cranking out little Layton related stuff like the figures and some other merchandise.

The crossover had so much fucking potential. I would have loved this joke if it happened at the end of the game before they part ways.

Agreed.

I'd kill for some ports of the games on 3DS, or even PC with all the graphics and cinematics updated.

This scene is one of the few times saying the game title in dialogue is acceptable

Curious Village would have been fine being said. And I can imagine Miracle Mask would have worked as well. The rest do kind of depend, as Diabolical Box seems more like something you'd hear in a rant, while Last Specter is a bit of an odd title for something like the monster seen.

Azran Legacy is also fine, since it's just the name of the treasure/McGuffin.
