I've been having a great time with it. The action feels fluid, and the game looks pretty smooth even on my Xbone.
I haven't touched the multiplayer yet, but the campaign has me enthralled. Even with the small amounts of story, it seem to be all it needs to keep me going forward. The codex was a nice touch too, and allowed me to immerse myself more into the world itself.
So far, my favorite part is the Gore Nests. The feeling of coming at them with raw hate is pretty ______fun.
So what do you like or dislike about it?
The only part I don't go so well with (and this is a personal issue) is my reliance on the shotgun. I don't know if this is supposed to be intentional, but I've only really used the chainsaw once, the pistol for the first enemy type you encounter, and then the shotgun for the rest.
Asher Williams
How do you enjoy playing a game all about fast movement, twitch aiming, and constant weapon switching on a console?
I can't imagine using the weapon wheel for this game.
Ian Young
It's great. I have platinum'd it already though and after you 100% it, it doesn't leave much else to do.
Snap map is pretty weak and multiplayer is ok.
If they tweaked the physics in multiplayer and made the bullet sponge characters go away, it might be more fun. Then again, it might just be a noob tube fest if they do that. I'm tied.
single player was superb, weapons are balanced, gameplay is clean and smooth. Secrets are fun to find.
I would say, if you find yourself with nothing to do after completing the campaign 100% the classic maps provide some extra play time.
Ian Powell
Ultra Nightmare is ridiculous. I love it. Pretty fun to plan out my upgrade path, ignoring upgrading weapon mods until I can get the rocket remote detonation.
Isaac Phillips
>The only part I don't go so well with (and this is a personal issue) is my reliance on the shotgun. I don't know if this is supposed to be intentional, but I've only really used the chainsaw once, the pistol for the first enemy type you encounter, and then the shotgun for the rest. That's doom played right desu
Connor Young
i downloaded the demo and couldn't get past the Bethesda logo screen. google it and it's an extremely common issue they didn't bother fixing.
Camden Martinez
Tell the truth, are you people from a marketing team? Don't lie to me please
Ian Russell
> Platnium
I got the bug where "All Weapon Masteries" trophy didn't pop which is really disheartening, and I'm too shit to beat the first level on Ultra Nightmare (I'll get it eventually).
Adrian Adams
Shut up, Mark.
Matthew Johnson
I'm not Marty Stratton. Who said I was Marty Stratton?
Tyler Rivera
>Try the demo on hard >Die >10 seconds loading >Die >10 seconds loading Fuck this shit
Dylan Perry
GIT GUD
Benjamin Perry
oh i also have a big though, I have completed all of the missions but 2 of them are stuck, despite being complete. IE they are greyed out and still list as being complete. Next update should fix it.
Grayson Edwards
>89usd get farkt bethesda even at 60aud fora key this game is expensive as hell fora 12 hour sp game
Isaac Long
>I'm bad I'm sorry to hear that.
Josiah Butler
I used every single weapon except the pistol very frequently. I thought every gun and pert near every attachment had a use that was realized. And I used that chainsaw pretty often when things went to shit. What was everyones favorite weapon/rune setup?
Triple barrel chain gun with the Rich get Richer rune (infinite ammo if => 75 armor) was the absolute best thing about that game. Nothing was as satisfying.
Justin Wood
>favorite weapon/rune setup? BFG plus the upgraded ammo rune. Drops BFG ammo randomly from killed enemies.
Caleb Baker
Ultra-Violence is way too easy and Nightmare is the fucking embodiment of artificial difficulty.
It's a shame.
Carson Phillips
>can change fov on console >no dips in framerate
What is iD doing right and what is every other FPS developer doing wrong?
Robert Howard
>nightmare is artificial difficulty >literally git gud the mode is artificial difficulty someone never played doom 1 and 2 on nightmare if you think this is bad you baby
Carter Bailey
carmack made the engine before he left id, it's no wonder games run great on it that was literally his job durring the first doom.
Hudson Anderson
>implying any difficulty of DOOM or DOOM 2 was challenging at all >implying getting one shot by everything in the game isn't artificial difficulty
Ryan Thomas
>implying any difficulty of DOOM or DOOM 2 was challenging at all and then says >implying getting one shot by everything in the game isn't artificial difficulty >mfw this summer child has never played doom 2 above hurt me plenty
Colton Kelly
beat it the week of release
good game but not worth full retail
The boss battles felt tacked on late in development and I think the game would have been better without them.
Ayden Sanders
Keep posting reaction images, I'm sure that'll make it true.
Landon Martinez
your the one crying about how you don't know how to press wasd and not get hit.
Owen Moore
The pistol being crap by default is one thing, but the shotgun too? It's got spitwad range compared to the original weapon.
Are any of the other guns fun to use on their own or do they all need a weapon mod or two with yet more cooldown functions propping them up like crutches?
Chase Sanchez
Ah the daily betheshill thread. No one will buy your shitty fucking dogshit game. Stop trying.
Blake Parker
NuDOOM is unironically harder imo
Leo Jackson
How? The demons don't track you with their projectiles unless it's Nightmare difficulty. All you have to do is circle strafe them and shoot at them until they die.
Oliver Turner
That wasn't my complaint, but keep putting that dank Sup Forums reaction folder to work! I'm sure that'll mean DOOM/DOOM2 weren't piss easy and getting one shot by anything early game in D44M until you get at least 175 HP isn't retarded.
Jose Gonzalez
...
Christian Perez
horseshit
I played on default and imp fire balls track even if you juke after they throw their magic fireballs
Oliver Gonzalez
Love it. Wish snapmap didn't crash all the time
Nicholas James
the only thing that 1 shots you early game is SS fireballs and the charged soldier shots, learn to dodge shit, you dont even have to deal with hitscan enemies in this game you little girl.
Zachary Jackson
best way to beat it on ultra is play it like a cover shooter
it sucks but it works
Landon Kelly
>What was everyones favorite weapon/rune setup? Rich get Richer+ (infinite ammo at 75 armor) Item power+ (leech grenades regen armor at full HP) Extra armor drops (for good measure, you can change this one with some other rune really)
Shotgun: explosive shell Plasma: stun (followed by a leech grenade to get your hp/armor back) Assault: mini-missiles RL: ROCKETSHOTGUN Pulse: swap depending on encounter Chaingun: turret
You just broke the game. Don't get hit though, if you do you better save some cells for stun/leech combo to get back in business.
Josiah Rodriguez
Doom is pretty hard on nightmare due to the respawning hitscan enemies
Easton Kelly
Did you ever try using the infinite mini rocket launcher with that setup? The endless rounds of hornet rockets you could spew forth makes my dick really hard
Wyatt Adams
shotgun is used to set up glory kills
Liam Jackson
The plasma rifle is pretty fun on it's own
Same with the godly Super Shotgun I disagree, the Spider Mastermind boss fight was really good, can't one shot this bastard >We will never have a Doom fight against a Doomguy clone with all of his weapons and abilities.
Daniel Sullivan
>Everyone shits on the MP >Enjoy the fuck out of it
Why do people hate it honestly? It's fun as fuck.
Jordan Ramirez
Imp fireballs, charged soldier shots, any Hell Knight attack, and even glancing a Hell Razer all instantgib you early game.
>learn to dodge shit see Dodging is all well and good, but 1HKO moves of any kind, especially when 10 different enemies all attacking you have one, is raw artificial difficulty.
But go ahead and try to tell me I haven't played the originals or something to try to deflect the problem.
Angel Phillips
weapons do shit for damage, game revolves around who has the demon rune, load outs.
Lincoln Gutierrez
infinite ammo at 75 armor armor drops from glory kills bfg ammo from normals (even though i didnt use the bfg pretty much ever)
Jason Garcia
What a waste.
Josiah Peterson
yep
it is THE game mechanic though
Xavier King
It's basically Halo lite. No reason for it to exist, really.
That being said it's surprising how many people erroneously remember Doom being even remotely multiplayer focused. The multiplayer for Doom has always been terrible but most kids think Doom and Quake are the same thing.
Leo Allen
>hourly Bethesda shill thread
Shut the fuck up
Nobody is going to buy your shitty brutal doom clone, which misses the entire point of doom
Luke Perez
Whatcha mean? Alot of the weapons do pretty good damage, I use Plasma Rifle personally and rek shit with it.
Jack Howard
I think it's more about people expecting the MP to play something like the SP, not a watered down Halo: Reach.
Shouldn't you be shitposting in a Battleborn thread?
Jackson Martin
>getting hit by a fucking hellknight >a melee only enemy how fucking bad can you be? honestly how fucking shit are you? did you even finish the game. At first i thought you were ironically defending being a shitter but now i see you actually fucking are one. We have already proven that you never played the originals above hurt me plenty, because you had no idea about respawning hitscans. get the fuck out of here and go back to facebook to cry about how hard the game is. >abloo abloo fucking artifical memes i beat this fucking game on nightmare in under 10 hours with less than 30 deaths and half of those were me falling off the bridge, learn to fucking play
Austin Long
Explain.
Actually please explain why you have this opinion.
>inb4 glory kills slow the game downHint: They don't.
Tyler Phillips
mastermind was ok but it seems like they just threw the other bosses in at the end because of the tired adage that videogames need bosses
if the bosses were built in from the start they would have appeared at regular intervals instead of just the last few levels
I dont think doom benefits from bosses
Hudson Cruz
And there it is. The claiming I haven't played the originals, ad hominem, and GIT GUD all in one post.
You should get some kind of Sup Forums captcha pass for shitposting.
Nicholas Ortiz
Yeah, it's fucking amazing. But one hit will put you under 75 armor in NM or even close to death in some cases, you need to change weapons in order to not get hit, so you find yourself constantly pulling shit like quickly switching to shotgun and using secondary to get rid of stray imps, then to pulse for mancubi, plasma stun/ss on knights and revenants, and so. I found mini missiles to be best vs large enemies from a distance because of that weird delay they have before exploding. But chaingun turret mode can work just as well, in fact, it might be the only weapon/mod spammable if you can aim and know the spawn pattern.
Jack Ross
they wern't very effective, but i agree that it looked cool
by that point you had the crazy chaingun or the gauss rifle which both outclass it by far
Jack Allen
>m-muh logical phallus >m-muh i have played the originals i sware >b-but this game is too hard >b-but my artificual difficulty >w-why can't i take 15 hits before i die in the hardest difficulty you need to take a long walk off a short pier
Charles Phillips
That's true, and I had a heavy bias towards the chain gun especially with the tri-barrel. I mean nothing felt as awesome as just holding the trigger and watching everything turn to pulp. It didn't matter what enemy, even the hellknights got cut down in about 4 seconds.
Anthony Davis
And right to the meme arrow and stuttering strawman.
Jonathan Miller
kinda deflated the fun for me
I had the most fun when it was just me jumping around with my shotgun
Adrian Reyes
>waahhh you can't dodge imp fireballs >waahhh hellknights keep killing me The only times I've been hit by either were when I either got careless or wasn't paying attention. They're not hard to dodge at all. Seriously, git gud you are scrubbing it up in a fucking single player game.
Elijah Russell
doom mp was largely why Doom did well, and it did so well in fact that quake 1 was actually designed primarily with MP in mind, so Doom mp definitely had something to it that people really liked. Anyway, whatever you may think about Doom being multiplayer focused or not doesn't change that this is a AAA id software game and the MP could've been good and could've been like the old id titles, but it wasn't and that's a big reason why people complain a lot about the new doom mp
Brandon Kelly
Nah, you'remissing a critical step of the game
Owen Cooper
Can someone fuckin buy this game ? come on some rich fag or something. Im super poor 3rd world shiter. Im pliskinn89 on steam.
Carter Lee
Polygon get out
Josiah Young
Gut gud, user. That's all I have to say to you.
But it would make sense if you were playing on Nightmare. That shit is borderline impossible.
Ayden Thomas
literally all I use is super shotgun and gauss cannon and my fists
rune that speeds up glory kills is a fucking must have
I love this game, the music and the fighting segments get me half chub every time
By the way, how many levels are there, I'm on 6
Parker Hernandez
sent
have fun, user :)
Josiah Perez
13
Christopher Morris
just pirate it you shit
Matthew Reyes
One of the last patches caused the game to crash like crazy for me. I hope they fix it soon. I haven't enjoyed a fps this much in over ten years.
Dominic Russell
you can totally dodge fireballs but dont fucking pretend like they dont track you like a fat kid after cupcakes
Joshua Watson
>what is jumping >what is zipping between objects >what is changing direction >what is verticality Oh no, they went from a straight shot to a curve ball, what ever will I do....
Carter Jones
doom mp was never good it was just the only game in town
that's why everyone dropped it when quake came out
Hudson Wilson
>that's why everyone dropped it when quake came out holy shit, nice joke
Gavin Perry
I never said it was a problem i just dont want you fucking lying
not the same guy youre arguing with about artificial difficulty
I do agree that playing on ultra-night is nothing more than a masochistic waste of time
Cameron Gomez
Is this ever gonna go on sale on ps4? I just really don't wanna spend 60 bucks. If it goes under that I'll buy it probably
Evan Barnes
Oh my sweet summer child, can you hear the siren's song over yonder hill? How she sings for you, how she sings the song of git gud?
Michael Taylor
>there are people that play without In-Flight Mobility
I mean I can kind of understand if you're playing on console.
Hudson Wright
I'm sure it'll be popping up in Gamestops used pretty soon.
Joseph Lopez
It's fun but not ever actually necessary. All obstacles are planned for the regular movement, and evading all attacks with it is perfectly possible
Benjamin Rodriguez
>Falling off the bridge at least 15 times This is the mildest case of "Git Gud" I have ever seen in my life. You bring me hope user.
Jaxon Campbell
Not by choice, user.
You don't get that until over halfway into the game. It makes replayability a chore.
Gavin Carter
>Nightmare is the fucking embodiment of artificial difficulty. No. Learn enemy behavior, how weapons and their mods work and don't get hit, you god damned faggot.
Charles Brown
OP here, sorry for the late replies, I thought my thread had an error posting.
I enjoy it, it slightly slows time when you switch weapons, which seems like enough time.
OP here. Nah, just not that far through it, but enjoying it.
Well thanks for the encouragement.
I got it for 30 bucks on amazon used, but I'm not concerned about used too much.
Andrew Hall
I hope the steam sales and id fixing MP will bring in new players
Eli Stewart
>Doggo >Cat
Which is the better pet and why is it neither since Doom guy likes rabbits?
Nathaniel Green
How do you enjoy a game about shooting demons in the face and ripping them to shreds without being able to feel any feedback in your hands?
I can't even imagine not having rumble.
Brody Richardson
I must be stupid or something. How do you stop that valve leak in Chapter 3?
Logan Reed
It is though, it makes everything do extra damage and doesn't change monster behavior otherwise, that's artificial difficulty
Non-artificial difficulty = making monsters more aggressive and more evasive Artificial difficulty = increasing damage and calling it a day
Mason Rodriguez
I had fun, but the constant pattern of "explore, lockdown fight arena, explore, lockdown fight arena" really grates on you.
Juan Taylor
>Yfw Hell Knights outta fucking nowhere
Nicholas Diaz
>yfw you think that Pinkies are as weak as Doom 1 Pinkies
Michael Perry
>increasing damage and calling it a day I don't think this is the case, but to tell you the truth I didn't try lower difficulties. NM fuckers are overly aggressive and fast, imps remain one of the biggest threats even late game because of that: they will evade you, bait you, flank you, snipe you, etc. Sometimes it really feels like they're working together somehow, shit's a mess when you keep 1 or 2 roaming around for more than necessary, while also having to deal with other types of enemies. I thought all this was because of the difficulty, but I don't really want to try and check lower ones.
Carter Nguyen
can't wait for the cool mods
oh wait
Josiah Perry
They still do double damage which is bullshit.
The extra aggression + evasion without the arbitrary damage boost would have been a great difficulty, but alas, it has the artificial bullshit on top too
Jordan White
Sure thing, Todd.
Julian Gomez
Picked it up earlier this week from Best Buy. They have a sale going for 40 bucks.
James Fisher
HARD a sale. It went back to full price yesterday.
