Why is GTA 5 so much worse than San Andres ,is it really nostalgia or just the biggest letdown in all of gaming ?

they focus all their effort on GTA online yet it still runs like shit and is laid out even worse

>Why is GTA 5 so much worse than San Andres
Cause that is your opinion. Any other easy questions you want me to answer?

No leading black protagonist or Samuel Jackson.

I had a lot of fun with this game, don't see what you're saying

Nostalgia. Get fucked.

>No leading black protagonist
Have you lived under a rock? Franklin is black and slightly edges out the other two as the main character, unfortunately.

Not really forgotten, it's just "there". Everyone acknowledges its existence, some might still play it to this day, but there's no need for further discussion.

Nostalgia threads will pop up around VI's release, though. I can guarantee that.

I was living under your mom if that counts?

I said LEADING, Franklin had to share screen time with Trevor and that other guy.

Wasn't a lot similar games with 3, VC, and SA. GTA has competitors. Still fun as fuck and one of the best in the series.

The leading protagonist is Michael, with other dude as the supporting role. Franklin doesn't have shit for support except Lamar, which doesn't get much for story.

The huge map was a waste

Outside of the city and that small town on the opposite end of the continent, there's not much of anything. It's 90% fields.

Runs likes ass

This, everyone's already played and discussed it to death so nobody does it anymore

The game was lacking content outside of it's story. I don't want to play thei shit multiplayer, I want a better world to explore and play with mods on.

Story and online were disappointing
Also nothing to do after level 100 on online

this. VI should be like half the size of V's map so more interiors and extra details can be added.

Top 5 most played console game this gen is forgotten?

>game looks good
DURR runs like shit

>game runs good
LUL downgrades thread anyone?

New update for Online is pretty fun.

And I'm sure its 10x more fun with friends [spoiler:(

They ran out of ideas. I know everyone likes to shit on IV, but IV at least introduced a lot of new ideas to the series. V had nothing but half-baked rehash and a heist feature that wasn't even fully implemented.

>they focus all their effort on GTA online
I wish. GTA Online is a complete shitfest. They only add useless shit like new cars, rather than fixing the lobby and matchmaking system. It's very usual to wait at least 20 min to start a Heist. Then if someone leaves, you start all over.

This desu. It's been 3 years, everyone has played it.

Besides it gets discussed plenty.

literally a rushed, unfinishef piece of crap
I remember in the last gen version there were giant sections of wall you could walk through, floating objects and textures, save glitches, missing clothing
and other bullshit. Not to mention a terrible story.

>features in online simply absent from singleplayer
>diluted story bc 3 protagonists
>watered down GTA IV physics
>none of the fun cheats and side activities of san andreas
It basically took the worst of SA and IV and made an MMO out of it.

>yet it still runs like shit
what? My PC was mid-tier a few years ago and is nearing low and I get 70+ fps on high settings

>Already forgotten
>lets talk about it some more

I don't think you understand.

could have done a lot more, by adding some additional game play elements. I would have liked some more detailed mini-games/encounters. Not pop ups, but like gang activities. A reason to do drive-by shootings, dog fights, etc. Not just main missions, just something to contextualize their worlds a little better. (shown through game-play, not cut-scenes). Talking mostly about single player. Multiplayer shit can fuck itself.

Michael should have been the only main character, with Trevor as a supporting member. Franklin should just be cut entirely.

Prove me wrong. you can't

I thought GTA V was great, but with a few caveats.

1. There is so much stuff in game that went unused in single player. Stuff like the Casino and racetrack, the Hollywood Bowl, the prison, Napa Wine country, etc. I don't expect that the game will handhold you through the entire map, but it would have been nice for these areas to be incorporated into the story a little better.

2. GTA Online just isn't fun and despite earlier clamoring for a multiplayer GTA, the experience just doesn't pan out. The charm of GTA is acting like a maniac, and going up against players who are doing the same thing (only with better weapons and invincible cars) just isn't that good.

3. GTA Online is the only part of the game that continued to recieve development. There were no further stories in V, and most of the online stuff were just expensive time sinks developed to steer you towards buying shark cards. The DLC for 4 were great (some would even say better than the original game), its a shame that we can't have "more" GTA 5.

4. The heists in single player were incredibly fun, it would have been nice if the story mode included maybe 2-3 more of these.

What are the other 4 ?

>development time spent making incredibly boring activities that no one enjoyed such as fucking yoga
>development time taken away from interactions that matter such as fighting police and the star system

Just terrible priorities.

You don't seem to know what lead means. It doesn't mean you get 100% screen time.

All 3 of them share a major part of the game's story, but the story is focused on how they come together, and how it affects Franklin's life. In the end, Franklin chooses whether he wants to end the life of one of the other two, or keep them alive. It is Franklin's story at the end of the day.

When you really think about it, story-wise Franklin didn't really have a reason to be there other than being CJ, the sequel.

This. Franklin didn't really have a personality at all and Trevor is not a protagonist.

WHERE THE FUCK IS THE GODDAMN STORY DLC

It's the problem of scale that is sidestepped all the time, mainly because gaming media doesn't exist anymore.

Let me boil it down to a question. Which is more exciting to you: Dwarf Fortress, a hideous ASCII-art game which randomly generates and simulates an entire planet, including thousands of years of civilization, historical figures, battles, monuments, cultures, seasonal patterns, creatures, water physics, hunger, thirst, drunkenness, sleep, character moods, relationships, subterranean layers of all manner, crafts, trading, military organization, decoration, landscaping, and individual physiology right down to specific bones and organs that get damaged in combat - or the "next gen" GTA VI (now with Facebook Rift)?

Dwarf Fortress is much more exciting to me as an example of what’s possible. If you put its visual fidelity on a scale of 1 to 10, it would be a one, but in terms of depth and interactive richness, it’s a 10. The programmer is free to design things as complex as he wants, because he doesn’t need to show you what’s happening in detail. Makes sense, doesn’t it? And, in this sense, our traditional definition of “progress” has become counter-productive. Because when we finally do have VR goggles that we can afford, we’re going to want even prettier places to walk around in. We’ll need new 4K or even 8K resolution displays shrunk down to the size of a playing card in front of our eyes, along with higher frame rates, immediate response times, and an order of magnitude improvement in the visual department–especially animation.

There's only so much work you can put into a hugeass world.

>GTA V
>get to the bit where kidnap thingies wife and also reporter side mission
>hit a bug where all story-NPCs just die in their vehicle for no reason and player can't even move anymore

Every fucking time, can't continue game

thanks

Sad thing is that your complaints would have been addressed if the online was ignored by most of the players. Fuck this current generation of gamers...

>People you choose for heists can have their skills improve and be better for the next taking less of a cut than the ones that started out with high ability
>There's only 5 heists and nothing to do with the extra money since the most expensive car is only like 950k.
>None of them are replayable or have any really different ways to run them besides a "Stealth or Loud" option that changes very little besides the setups

Probably CoD, FIFA, Minecraft, NBA.

Trevor and Lamar

they tried to do too much, GTA is better when you feel like a small time punk, not when you're playing Navy SEAL and breaking into underground laboratories. fighting PMCs and shit, it was just too epic for its own good.

>gta 5
>forgotten

You literally raid area 51 to steal a jetpack in San Andreas, what the hell are you talking about?

A balance between the two will be possible because there won't be the 360/ps3 to hold it back. New consoles aren't great, but if they achieved what they did developing the game on older consoles, then i'm sure VI can be better in every way.

>GTA is better when you start out like a small time punk and make it big
ftfy

I think it's fun. it's way better than all the other gtas simply becassue of the updated graphics and game mechanics. I mean sure, they story isn't as good as IV but, i don't play for the story. it's an open world game where you can live out your vices. and they even brought first person and it rules. best FP in a video game in a long time. sure the online is down the tube because of modders and kids, but it's like a whole new campaign. so many missions, some sweet ass heists and all updates/add ons ARE FREE!! you really can't complain with this game.
and how could it be forgotten, it just came out with a new add on. Just beacuse the losers are Sup Forums doesn't talk about it doesn't mean its dead. the only thing dead are Sup Forumss opinions....other than mine ;)

>top 5 most popular game on Steam stats day after day
>forgotten

Because they totally abandoned the single player for shilling online stuff. There hasn't been a single thing added to not-online except the cars, which you can't even obtain in singleplayer without cheating. Imagine the shitstorm they'd have stirred up if they had a season pass.

>game mechanics
everything by car customiztion was downgraded though
I was going to point out more errors but I'm pretty sure this is bait anyways

I'm sure he means in the absolute fucking retarded loading times.

>Start heist
>CHOOM CHOOM CHOOM WOAH CINEMATIC CAMERA~
>...
>Couldn't find enough people for heist, returning to free roam
>CHOOM CHOOM CHOOM
>enter into a completely empty lobby
>change to different one

That's a good thing, because Franklin was the the most boring of the three protagonists.

Thats bullshit
I rather want to start of as a businessman or drug trafficker

As a product it is actually really good.
As a game it isn't fun.

No, it's not. its my two cents. I feel as though the game plays better than 4. sure, I have good memories of the older titles, but five is better than the rest, hands down end of. you guys are just living in nostalgic times.

Apparently in the newest GTAO update you can start an empire but I haven't touched that shit in months, the updates came way too late.

oh, in that case yeah they're fucking absurd. after waiting 5 minutes to get into the game I have no interest in playing. doesn't help that I have to download 65 gigs too for a slightly upgraded version of a Xbox 360 game that was 18 gigs at most

Biggest problem is the map. Not in size or content, but how it's spaced out. It's just city to hills to desert then back around and it doesn't even do this in an interesting fashion. It's just one big loop around Mt. Chilliad once you leave LS.

That and no BoGT-tier DLC. Rockstar must be printing money selling virtual dollars on GTA:O and decided single player DLC is just too much effort.

Stopped playing when I got to Trevor because he was fucking annoying.

Open world games have run their course. San Andreas released at a time where we were still having fun with them. By the time GTAV came out.... meh. I never cared for it to begin with.

Because it sold more off of hype than cause of the actual quality of the product a la fallout 4. In that its not really a bad game or anything just a real let down as to what could have been.

Graphically yes, and car customization is nice, but everything else is worse than at least one of the prior games, ie physics downgraded from 4 and not as much player freedom as in SA. For what fucking purpose was there a 5 minute long invincibility cheat? Why would I only want that for 5 fucking minutes?

Just wait until the next GTA for a real opinion on V. People just love to shitpost.

This is objectively false. I run heists almost everyday. Ransoms are plenty. Your internet might be shit.

>release free new content
>its only available online and requires hundreds of hours of playing to afford unless you want to pay real money

They focused so much on GTAO and GTAO sucked dick for how much effort they have put into it.

I hope next gta doesn't have multiplayer or it's a side feature.

i'm talking about the fact that GTA games that don't take place in liberty city are boring.

A lot of people shitpost ironically but I was super disappointed by this game. I played GTA IV all summer before V came out and remember feeling a sense of panic when of footage of the shitty physics engine and lack of interesting cheats started leaking.

>Why is GTA 5 so much worse than San Andres
You can't meme about 5 the way you can about SA.

which ideas did IV introduce, bowling and fuck all to do in the world?

IV introduced this realism cancer that sucked all the entertainment out of GTA. Remember when you had missions where you raided a moving train using a jetpack? No you get to eat shit, drive this slow ass truck for the mob, that's as exciting as it gets.

The game starts as Michael's story, though. The catalyst for the heisting and shit comes from him, too. I think Franklin gets the ending choice because the devs knew it would encourage people to pick the deathwish option.

First GTA then MGS, what is it with games being V that makes them disappointments?

>other guy

Shit, I'm black but Michael was a cool character. Trevor was the shit character. A Michael and Franklin story of teacher and student bank robbers would have been way better.

All that uncompressed audio deters pirates :^^^^^^^^^^^^)

Online is shit. Yet the underagers love it and splash cash on it

yeah but even in that mission you're still a hood nigga. just a hood nigga with a jetpack not SPECOPSTHELINEARRGH milfag

I hated how they have properties in singleplayer, but they're completely and utterly worthless. No missions, nearly impossible to make a return on them. Stupid, I really hope the next GTA brings back proper properties, it was such a great aspect of Vice city and to a lesser extent SA.

>i'm talking about the fact that GTA games that don't take place in liberty city are boring.

>they tried to do too much, GTA is better when you feel like a small time punk, not when you're playing Navy SEAL and breaking into underground laboratories. fighting PMCs and shit, it was just too epic for its own good.

Apparently you're not. What kind of simpleton are you?

I dropped IV right at the start when I had to take some bitch out bowling

Trevor is hilarious.

Are implying that Fallout 4 isn't a bad game only a let down?

4 was good shit, what the fuck? You fags aren't GTA fans. Every GTA since 3 has been good in it's own way.

who would have thought The Last of Us would have more staying power than GTAV?

SA broke new ground, it gave us a map that was positively fucking massive compared to earlier games, it introduced stats, gangs and gang war systems (even if they were shit) and a bunch of other stuff.

GTAV didn't really do anything new (except character swapping), it just refined what already existed, and actually went backwards in some areas. The only noteworthy thing in GTAV is full multiplayer but that seems to be focused on a different audience.

4 sucked but the Far Harbor DLC was good. Somehow they make a DLC that's better than the core game. Bethesda man...

GTAO is the next step, mark my words it will not be GTA 6 but GTAO 6 the online has overtaken the actual game.

You always have the modding community though.

>already forgotten
by you, nigger
game is still retail a success even at this day

GTAV is a fantastic game with tons of detail honestly. It's far better than any other entry in the series you're just blinded by nostalgia.

You did that because you were a stupid child who can't see past one optional mission.

Fucking this.

I don't get why they got rid of the stats from SA. Getting buff or fat was amazing. Actually added a little roleplaying to the game.

I don't get why they ever removed it.

3 and 4 have that small time punk vibe to them.

I enjoyed GTA V a million times more than IV. My nostalgia tells me that Vice City was the best and that III was great, but I haven't played either in at least a decade. If R* didn't go complete jew and focus on shitty GTAO and selling people jewbux for the overpriced shit, I'd still be playing the game. It's fucking criminal that we will never get DLC on par with Gay Tony, which was the best thing about GTA IV.

>already forgotten
>3 years of steady hype and PR over initial release, current gen console release, and PC (never doubted btw)
>still getting consistent GTAO updates
>R* Still working on single player expansion DLC al la lost and damned and gay tony

I mean sure its not quite in the limelight but i still see youtube ads for free online content and its still actively played on all systems

It did well, sold well, and still has more to come from it

Hell id say its their biggest GTA yet

>4 was good
Nah it was dull as fuck. I had to force myself to finish that turd. It easily has the worst, most mundane missions of the entire series. Go there and drive your cousin to play bowling. Now drive this bitch to a clothing store. Fuck that boring shit.

You're probably right. I wish you weren't but I know it's going to happen just based on all the support they have put into GTAO and with zero real content for the single player.

Watch the next red dead be an online game.

Vice City has great atmosphere and radio, but SA improved on VC in just about every way, just replayed them both recently.

I'll give you that, it did have some stupid ass missions but it was no worse than 5 and San Andreas.

funny part for me is that it is STILL in the top 10 sellers in steam

HOW DOES THIS GAME KEEP SELLING
HOW ARE PEOPLE WHO STILL DON'T OWN THIS GAME ON STEAM

I just don't understand how a game can keep selling so consistently for so fucking long

I liked the story sort of. Loved the characters. It's just after I finished the game I really didn't feel like playing it anymore. There's only so long you can go around shooting people and blowing shit up before you get bored.
Really wish they would have focused on single player DLC more than online.

Crashing into cars felt less satisfying imo.
Did they ever tell us what that mystery meant with the jetpack and those symbols? I got the UFO car but never found a jetpack or anything.
