This game is the ultimate proof that video games...CAN, in fact, be art. You cannot prove this wrong. Post other games that can be considered art.

Litigating video games as art is kind of a paradox.

This thread is the ultimate proof that OP... is, in fact, a faggot.

>art.
fart

AHAAHAHHAHAAHHAAAAAAAAA

Antechamber

hmm... really makes you think

Shadow of the Colossus. I didn't really like it but it's about as close to art as you can get in a game.

Video games are NOT art

They are GAMES like fuckin chess and football

If movies are art, why can't video games be art?

1.
the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.
Yes they are, faggot.

Art:
something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings

Because video games aren't movies. They're toys for kids

If you'd ever seen an early Werner Herzog movie you'd understand.

...

Why insult Herzog? He's really cool.

PLAYED COLLEGE BALL YOU KNOW

Farcry 2 gave me the same atmosphere that Herzog created in Fitzcaraldo and Wrath of God.

Every environment in this game was handcrafted to feel like you were in a desperate situation. There are many other influences it takes, such as heart of darkness as an obvious one. It's perfect.

No it's just the ultimate proof that video games... CAN, in fact, be confusing zigzags of pretentious hot garbage and analogues that everyone seems to think is so fucking special.

>oh wow raiden is actually me oh my oh wow
>oh wow oh my god kojima predicted everything oh wow
>oh wow the media is controlled oh wow thought control oh woooooow

Look, Kojima's childish pith aside, games can never be art because their main function as an interactive tool is an entirely different thing. Art imposes ideas through abstract presentation. In actuality, though, while the game itself isn't art, it's all the assets (graphics, music, etc.) inside that, themselves, can be interpreted as art.

Video games are interactive showcases of a collective of art assets, but they can never be art themselves. Kojima's example is a boring attempt at seeming like a striking collective narrative of society and player but it's bogged down with his ludicrous style.

So it's derivative and that impressed you.

i gotta tell you this is probably the worst game in the series.

it's too ludonarritively dissonant to be art

you're right, but it wasn't very good regardless.
I respect its ambition but it absolutely failed when it came to gameplay and story. It's just respectable that it tried.
