Would Civil War shooters be popular? I'm sure a handful of them exist, but I'd love to see a developer like Treyarch make one.

The guns, factions, history and banter, seems like the perfect recipe for an online shooter.

It would only be good because it would be nonstop SJW vs Sup Forumstard banter.

there is a upcoming multiplayer (u get to fight line battles with actual people against actual people online) one this year with a massive amount of realism called war of rights

Why is there modern German flag in the bottom left

How would they include the SMGs, which totally saw more use than bolt actions during the war, though?

Is it going to be like Red Orchestra? Would we be able to use cannons?

>Would Civil War shooters be popular?
No. It would only attract a niche audience. You'd have to battlefield 1 it to make it enjoyable

>Being surprised by this shit in a Battlefield game

even 1942 included light machine guns as de facto 'assault rifles' you fucking sperg

why did you ever expect realism out of a battlefield

if you could play as the Confederates and kill union scum, yes

if you could play as the Union and kill confederate scum, yes

Games that use musket combat will never be mainstream.

No. The rebel battle flag is now considered racist and evil. Nobody's touching that shit with a ten foot pole.

I bought this a long time ago. It was really fun to use the bayonet and rifle butt but is otherwise pretty lame.

Using muskets would be slow as fuck. Mount & Blade managed to make their frenchie DLC pretty cool though, so maybe we'll see a rebel war mod or DLC for M&B2 (when it releases in 20 years)

>shoot Bayonet
>wait for recharge animation or use your $3.99 confederate special rifle to reduce reloading speed by 75%

>shoot Bayonet

That's the edge of the union flag, retard. It has a golden seam. And the german flag has BLACK, not BLUE.

I dunno man who romanticizes the American civil war?

It wasn't glamorous

game about a black slave liberating himself from his masters plantation.
happens right before the north invades the south.
The Slave must use the underground railroad.
theres muskets he can use everyonce in a while.

game is a stealth/horror game.

now wheres my gorillion dollars.

>game about a black slave liberating himself from his masters plantation
dropped

Nobody outside of America would give a fuck

>hiding in the cornfields at night when they come after you with lanterns
>they're shouting come out nigger at you

i'd play it

>that guy who asks "what game can I play as a nazi"

>shoot bayonetta

>people dont know the difference between the confederate state and confederate army flags

>what's a homemade grapeshot

multiplayer mode would be funny

>cumshoot bayonetta

A lot of people do. People still wave those stupid stars-and-bars like it isn't the symbol of an army that slaughtered thousands of Americans so they could continue to sit on their lazy white asses, after all.

>The Harriet Tubman Experience.

Print it.

>Dice announces BF 0.5 American Civil War
>75% of CSA are Cherokee indians
>75% of USA are blacks and women
>only recon class has a musket [with an acog]
>everyone else gets Gatling guns and Henry rifles
>hot air balloon dogfights at jet speeds
>horses are tanks, need anti-horse grenades
>no cannons
>army of VA and Army of the Potomac are dlc skins
>faggots on Sup Forums will go GO PLAY ARMA/GO BACK TO Sup Forums

I'd kill for the M&B mod for the war to be more active.

ywn be a Lousiana Tiger

Why not? As long as it was an analysis of history and not used as propaganda. Historical accounts are valid, no matter how disgusting, and should not be censored.

red orchestra?

>sequel is a game where you play as a jew trying to escape a concentration camp

a game from the viewpoint of Rommels inner circle would be interesting

>You play an FPS as a member of the SS...
>...Under the preface that it's your testimony at Nuremberg...

Fund it.

That would be legitimately fun if it was a bit tongue in cheek about how shit the trails were.

so did ww1, ww2, vietnam, irag, afghan...
but ea and act find a way.

A bunch of them got censored last year because of that confederate flag thing.

The point is to not condone the things the SS committed. Heck, since it's testimony, it can be chronologically out of order and start with a bunch of action at Kursk, only to take a terrifying turn when you are forced by your CO to flush some Jews out of hiding under a stiflingly unsettling atmosphere.

>An FPS where you play as an unimportant German Soldier.
>Allies portrayed as bad guys. Nazis as good.
>You don't care about politics, you're just serving your country.
>Start out all patriotic and fucking awesome. You get to serve your Fuhrer, fuck yeah!
>Throughout the campaign you slowly come across the atrocities you and your soldier bros have committed, including the civilian body pits, gassed jews/commies, and documents from high command showing they don't care about grunts like you.
>Literally "Are we the bad guys?" the game a la Spec Ops: The Line.
>Game is all about your denial. "There's no way we did this stuff. Concentration Camps are all Allied Powers propaganda! The Master Race would never.......Right?"

I'd play it.

>the entire game is set up in a stream of concsiousness through the protag's testimony at Nuremberg
>playing ladt events that will actively affect your testimony in real time
>moral system through gameplay
>the "good" ending is you doing exceptionally evil shit allowing the Allies to allow you to escape to Argentina
>if you don't do evil shit, the Allies threaten and kill your family members, and too much "good" can cause a game over as the Allies execute you for not shipping their desired narrative

Ship it.

They only appeal to Americans and Americans prefer modern-futuristic shooters anyway.

>spanish civil war
>commies/fascists/republicans
>was the test bed for a good amount of ww2 equipment from soviet to german
>international brigades

I hate you autists who suggest that companies like Treyarch make pre-20th Century war games.
What are you gonna do?
Walk in a line towards the enemy, fire off a shot, then spend a whole minute reloading and hope you don't get shot too?

Kill yourself.

I'd go so far as to give the player burial duty at Auschwitz, where you have to lug an emaciated corpse to a pit like you have to in Brothers.

>he hasn't played battlegrounds 2

I wouldn't include a morality system at all. I'd make the game force you to do something awful with your CO's rifle at your back should you refuse.

>mfw Sherman Campaign

How about quicktime events where you force yourself to do awful shit, but they get progressive easier as the game goes on. Implying you're becoming desensitized to all that's going on.

The trails slapped a lot of other stuff on the Germans which they didn't do, like the Katyn massacre. I just think it'd be funny to see a much of Russians dressed poorly as Germans with a Soviet flag that has a crudely drawn Swastika over the hammer sickle, all with terrible German accents.

>le evil nazis meme
>le atrocities meme
kill yourself

I'm sick of hearing about german atrocities
Let me offer a better idea

>An FPS where you play as an unimportant German or Foreign volunteer soldier
>Western allies portrayed as neither good nor bad
>Commies portrayed as the devil
>You are a devout national socialist and wish to defend your country and people with your life
>Throughout the campaign you slowly come across Soviet atrocities and your desire to destroy the red menace grows
>Game ends with a final battle in the streets of Berlin along with old men and children giving their lives to stop the bolsheviks
>Final cutscene shows the protagonist in a soviet labour camp in siberia

can i play as a soviet gunning down fascist pigs?

>Stalin was an asshole.
Wow, what a revelation.

>stormweenie gets triggered, the post

>itt
>top 10 reasons why Sup Forums thinks nazi's were gud guys

>not a game as a Tommy in Singapore
>not a game where you eventually get captured
>not a game about how the Japanese are undoubtedly the worst people in existence.

How did you get that from my post?

See all of these game ideas where you play as a Nazi might actually be cool. And maybe they could have gotten away with it 10 years ago but these days you say the wrong thing and suddenly you have angry outrage warriors up your ass in moments

Whoa whoa whoa, only if you PROMISE you make all white people in the game into evil racist white supremesists

No because weapons weren't advanced enough to have everyone running around with smgs or assault rifles firing full auto and modern gamers are too fucking adhd riddled to fucking aim the first shot that theyd bitch non stop about how shooting is too slow and it how it sucks. Which is why battlefield 1 is using guns that literally were only made in numbers

Red Orchestra 2 had a German campaign that didn't shoehorn allied propaganda but it was underfunded and was basically just multiplayer with bots and cutscenes

the singapore and even hong kong would be some interesting battles for vidya

plus weres my game about the chindits?

>gurkha ally
>sneaking up on japs mid drinking party and gunning them down amidsts shouts of surprise before withdrawing into the jungle

Yes.
...as long as you put in tanks and automatic weapons.

Like I said, it's in the angle. I think one set with the Nuremberg trials as a pretext would take the edge off, since the player is inevitably caught and tried for their participation in whatever happens.

dang that looks sick

The winner decides what goes in the history books. Allies won, so they paint themselves as the heroes. I don't care what edgy Sup Forums memes you have. Forever in history, Nazis will be the bad guys. I have no doubt both sides were equally terrible, but everybody who was there first hand is basically dead, so I go by the books.

No matter how many more people Stalin slaughtered than Hitler, Hitler will always be more infamous.

No matter how many war crimes and abominations of science were done by the U.S after the war, Nazis will always be worse. America literally dropped bombs that decimated Japan, yet are still heroes.

The point isn't to say 'Nazis are bad and Allies are good.' It's to show the point of view of a patriotic German just following orders. Like it or not, a lot of Germans weren't really on board with the whole genocide thing, they just went with whatever the charismatic man with the mustache said.

You could do the same thing with Allied soldiers too, if you wanted, but it would ultimately be called out as historically inaccurate because "The Allies did nothing wrong."

I've become convinced that the first people to go OMG TRIGGURRD LMAO are actually the ones being "triggered."

>Hey guys, it would be neat to see the war from the German perspective without the Saturday Morning cartoon evil
>UR TRIGGURED U NAZI

Wtf?

>There will never be a 2nd Sino-Japanese war game

It's honestly probably the largest yet most underrepresented front in WWII

There was so much shit going on over there but no one wants to use it as a setting

people get triggered
people call them out on it

pretty simple logic stormbro

Play the Falaise Pocket in Company of Heroes.

>not charging MG nests with your knife

the nuke actually served a tactical point unlike the nazi death camps m8

>nazi's dindunuffin!

Will it have an online faction based campaign?
I wanna virtually have the south rise again damnit

no one is saying the allies are perfect you retard, they just did a lot less fucked up shit then the nazi regime but hey feel free to fall back upon the "allied propaganda" meme

They were dropped on civilians, though. Could have air-bursted them over the Japanese navy, or something.

>wanting a different perspective makes you a neo nazi

Yes, Reddit. I am surely the one triggered here.

The West doesn't give a shit about it, the Japs don't like to talk about it and the Chinese are too busy making animated movies about it.

You raise a fair point, but the bomb (and a lot of subsequent arms in the U.S) was built by Germans who got their freedom because they were smarter than the other Germans.

>>le evil Nazis meme
>>le atrocities meme

Yes these are complete "memes" members of the Nazi party were evil, give or take a few that actually realized what shit show they stepped out to when they realized Hitler was a complete Autist.

Also

>that damage control

Sup Forums circle jerk is waiting for ya friendo

Literal know nothing expresses his know nothing opinion about how he knows nothing and insists on having his ignorant tastes catered too. The future of video games.

This started as a civil war thread. Why does Sup Forums have to ruin everything remotely good with Pro Nazi/Anti Allies shit?

The entire point of the A-bombs was to show Japan what would happen if they pursue a continued war. Even then the argument of 'muh civilians' doesn't matter because in a total war civilians are as valid targets as military targets.

We're all brothers in species so every war is a civil war

Because Sup Forums is the cancer of Sup Forums and should stay in their containment board

>Even then the argument of 'muh civilians' doesn't matter because in a total war civilians are as valid targets as military targets.

>Americans

>Sup Forums boogyman
We're more likely to derail threads into Trump circlejerks.

This is all on you fuckers.

"We are willing to kill your civilians en-masse" is a damn cowardly message. Ending the Navy in a single blow or annihilating a large military complex would have sent the same message.

Makes me wonder how Earth in Sci-fi games and movies just kind of unites together with no explanation.

Humans are the real up there on the list of things that kill humans. I highly doubt that a bunch of ayylmaos showing up would make us want to kill each other less.

>japanese navy
What navy? By mid 1945 they had nothing left.

Go back to Sup Forums. This board is about video games.

I wonder if ayylmaos are having a civil war between themselves about who is going to pillage our planet.

You want to talk about civil war as a game, do so. The civil war was pretty politically charged regardless, but hey. We can talk about a hypothetical game. I think it wouldn't work because today's audience just isn't interested (patient) enough for single shot, semi, bolt or lever action weapons. But I'm sure we can always DICE the game and have every player running full speed behind a gattling gun like a wheel barrow cranking it at full speed.

>people who have different political opinions of mine and mention them in relation to games that are heavily political in nature shouldn't be allowed to post in my hugbox

Get fucked, faggot. The South shall rise again.

>Implying there's anything worth pillaging

>failed bait

I'm not even the user that suggested the idea. He just said it would be interesting to play a game from the perspective of a typical German soldier.

You DO realize very few of the German army knew wtf was going on in concentration camps, right?

>damage control

Nigger, nobody is defending shit. I was questioning your knee jerk reaction to German soldiers on Sup Forums of all places. You do realize a huge chunk of us on Sup Forums voted for Hitler Did Nothing Wrong for the Mountain Dew name a couple years back? I imagine very few of us are neo-nazis or whatever, but we didn't have some sperg like you calling everyone Sup Forums because of a joke or mild interest in German soldiers.

>implying they would miss out on the cheap xp to level up

I'm not an American, I'm a Brit.

>"We are willing to kill your civilians en-masse"
Hiroshima had a lot of military headquarters, industrial complexes and a port. Nagaski had one of Japan's largest ports.

They chose their targets for military importance. If they wanted to kill they would have gone for civilian centres or even Tokyo.

Hence why I've being saying how much I'd like to see certain games.

He's referring to civilians participating in the war industry, as those are the primary targets of virtually every nation that practices strategic bombing

The Japanese navy was already mostly destroyed by that point, they were pretty fixed on fighting a war of attrition on Japanese soil which would have resulted in far more loss of life for everyone involved

>Implying the South stood a chance against the technologically and politically superior North.

Buddy, the North all the factories and railroads, and even guilt tripped Britain into helping if things got out of hand. There was no way the South was ever going to win.

>Hitler Did Nothing Wrong.
He invaded Russia from the West.
