i played platinum demo for the first time today. i liked it. it was cute. i particularly enjoyed going around the giant mansion as a midget knocking over toy blocks in my toy car. shit was comfy.

the combat also is way more fun than i thought. from the gameplay i assumed it was on-rails-do-nothing like FFXIII but its actually more like an action RPG.

also the rain spell looks gorgeous. love me dem particle effects.

i'm actually tempted to buy the game fampais... but i won't preorder it. im gonna make sure it isn't garbage. if it's a solid 8/10 though im gonna buy it day 1.

If you watched all the recent trailers and you are still not sure I would wait until Gamescom or even TGS with your pre-order.

Cor would be 12 years old 30 years ago. The xv website mentions Cor and Cid both traveled with Regis 30 years ago but that description is about kings tale.

The stats in these scans are ridiculous.
Lvl 15 Noct has 175 HP and Lvl 22 Noct is at 3136.
That means you either level really slowly or shit's gonna escalate really fast once the game starts.
Or the stats are still not finalized

Ravus is probably just Luna's brother. A neutral villain in comparison to everything we've seen before.

The finale of the game has been teased that the boys are going into a city to take down someone. It's more than likely going to be Ardyn as he's been seen a lot lately approaching a throne whilst smiling rather sadistically.

There hasn't been any real criticism in this thread.

There's some no name writer working on XV, so don't expect anything. Judging from the latest trailer the dialogue is on the same level as XIII

But it isn't working in my eyes. It's not like FF7 or 8 where the designs are modern but have an anime dystopian flare to them to make them work in the world they're in. This is literally just taking things that exist in our world and plopping them into a fantasy world. This isn't just a settings and vehicles, even the choices for the armoured enemies make no sense. They're going out of their way to make this world look like ours in terms of technology and design but they have guys in full on platemail using submachine guns. Even other FF games with more modern designs would make armoured soldiers look like modern day soldiers.

I love cosy camping simulators with male bi-sexual protagonists because that is an experience I never had

He's chancellor of Niflheim, their whole scheme was taking over the Lucis crystal and throne, since Iedolas is retiring from political shit that's why we see Ardyn since he's next in charge.

Ravus is the only one seen talking about the plague of the stars and he is seen commanding a Niflheim soldier.

Everything about Ardyn is extremely obvious, it's a red herring to make you think he is the main villain but the true one will be Ravus. Him being Luna's brother only increases his importance to Noctis and Luna too.

There is only one thing I like about this game: The summoning animations

That's not enough to warrant spending any money on it or playing it. Characters are horrible, combat is horrible.

There was barely anything to get gud at and the demo was easy as piss, m8. The air combos and whatnot that people kept raving about were easy enough to do, but that doesn't keep the combat from feeling sluggish as hell and extremely unsatisfying.
The ravage combos are a good example of this. They keep saying that you can tap the button instead of holding it, but the inputs are not timed with Noctis's attacks, so you're better off just holding. I don't see the point of having the option to tap when it isn't done well.

So get gud. Weighted weapons are supposed to move slower than light weapons, that doesn't make it sluggish. And tapping gives you faster input and manual vanquish as well as quicker to do directional input with. Crush and aerialattacks are 1:1, only basic ravage without directional input isn't.
