We don't anyway since the European Parliament is simply a rubber-stamping house. It cannot propose to write, repeal, or alter legislation. All it can do is approve of legislation drafted by the (unelected) Committee or say "no, please revise" at most a couple of times.

The EU would have been acceptable had it stayed an economic union. Now it's highly political, aiming to ban political speech it finds unfavourable, punishing countries for electing parties it disagrees with, fining countries for rejecting illegal immigrants, and slowly consolidating member-states' armies into a federal army under Germany's command.
