>Toejam & Earl: Back in the Groove will release on console, developer Humanature Studios has confirmed, after the studio managed to secure additional private funding.
The game had previously only been expected to release on PC after its Kickstarter campaign failed to hit the tiers required for a launch on PS4, Xbox One and Wii U. But while the developer can't yet confirm which consoles the game will arrive on, it is heading to at least one, the studio says.
"We have a funding partner and we WILL be coming out on consoles but we can't say who or which ones or when just yet," the studio said in an update posted on Kickstarter. "In fact, we were going to post some video of the game, but our partner has asked us to wait on that so we can have a big reveal later."
Instead of releasing video footage, the developer posted brand new screens and details offering an updated look at the game. You can check them all out through here.
Back in the Groove secured $508,637 via its Kickstarter campaign last year, over $100,000 more than its $400,000 goal. It wasn't quite enough to secure a console release, however, with the developer requesting $600,000 for release on PS4, $700,000 for Xbox One and $800,000 for Wii U.
"Thanks for keepin' the faith," the developer concluded. "We're working hard to bring you the VERY best game that we can."
A release date for the game has yet to be confirmed.

I can't believe there is nostalgia for this franchise.
Man I played one of these games with my dad when I was like 3 on one of the Sega consoles fuck yea I have nostalgia for it
Justin Williams
So isn't this a tacit admission the reach goals were simply cash grabs if it failed to reach the required amount to release on a console but they release it on a console anyway?
Justin Brown
No, they're able to release on consoles because they found a funding partner.
Jose Morris
Oh well that's cool. Are they refunding all the Kickstarter backers now that they've found a traditional funding partner?
Henry Davis
I really want them to make one like Panic on Funkotron. That was one of my first games as a kid and I still enjoy playing it.
Austin Cox
Are you dumb?
Nicholas Wilson
I didn't back their Kickstarter, so no
Jayden Powell
Neither have I but I'm still looking forward to this game so...
William Baker
So what's your point? Kickstarter was made to support creators who did not have access to traditional funding sources. It defeats the purpose if people who can find funding elsewhere are using Kickstarter anyway

>classic Toejam and Earl costumes

Publishers can screw up a games developers vision and force them to change certain aspects of it, so they wanted to develop the game how they wanted without any forced changes so they went to kickstarter, I mean the reason why panic on funkotron was platformer was because of SEGA

Will the old man in the carrot suit be coming back? And why was he wearing a carrot suit in the first place
Zachary Ramirez
nice, im interested
Dominic Morales
ahh so all you did was see kickstarter and wanted to start shit
Zachary Adams
>able to release on consoles because they found a funding partner.
it doesn't take much to port to a console. With unreal 4 you just click a button and do some optimization and boom! its ported.
Isaac Wilson
who cares about this old shitty game
Owen Price
i do, the original was the first game i ever played
Tyler Mitchell
another pointless treading-on of things from childhood
why bring back things the exemplify the early 90s as if kids today fucking get it at all
Nolan Russell
I really like Toejam & Earl, but I'll be honest, I think the art style they're using for this one isn't that good
