Plenty, though not online due to how shit it is. Many of my friends and acquaintances play it when getting together. Unsurprisingly, they already broke the Circle pad and went to buy the N3DSXL.

Wow, I'm quite invested in the competitive scene so I basically only play Wii U even though I own the 3DS version, but even most of my casual friends own the Wii U version and never play it on 3DS.

No adventure mode and replacement for it was shit.
No target smash

Removed everything that made smash great and it became a bit lifeless and boring

Pretty sure he meant that because everyone has a 3DS and no one has a WiiU, people just figured they'd get the game instead of a game and a console.

It's more that a larger amount of people own a 3DS of some kind and its version would presumably cut into the Wii U version's sales significantly
