I like Zero more than X because I feel like Zero actually put in more effort to be a hero than X. X complained a lot about fighting and really didn't take into consideration about the people he would help if he fought

I think it's cool that instead of getting new guns to equip, you get new combo moves you have to input. I'm a little mixed on leaving the names of them in Japanese, but it works. I was never a fan of the "pew pew pew" style of megaman games, but Zero turned it around for me a bit.

I just can't see that interpretation at all. But maybe that displays the breakdown in the games as the series went on. Every one of the original three SNES games ends with a textdump internal monologue longer than the total amount of dialog in the game about X reflecting on the nature of conflict, and how he fears his efforts might ultimately be hurting his quest to bring about peace, or why these maverick attacks keep happening.

Zero's personalizing character came in strong in X1 where he clearly was willing to die to further his cause, and even as he lay dying would still try to help X by giving him his buster.

But in X4 on; the game script doesn't have X's contemplative internal dialog. It does have a lot of lip service to X's moral conflict, and this actually hurts the characterization having the same conversation with half the rank and file mavericks was redundant. Since... well there was never going to be a choice to talk them out of fighting, and he only gets to advance a cause peacefully in the credits of X5.

Zero acts with certainty but he is shortsighted with his actions. That leads him to personally kill someone he supposedly loved, just because she was in front of him on a mission, and his regret from that causes him to play into Sigma's plans, spread a virus, and nearly end the world in the next game.

In X7 he's like "maybe fighting doesn't solve shit" but then he realizes not doing nothing about it doesn't help either. By X8 he pretty much just say "Stop this shit or I'll shoot" to the mavericks.

X in X3 mindnumbingly stronger than Zero. When X gets Zero's saber it becomes much more deadly.

He can be top tier in 2 VS games though, even beats the faggot that throws hadokens and shoryukens

X has been fighting against mavericks for a much longer time than zero, in the ending of megaman zero you see he has been fighting without rest over hundreds of years, never being to rest and have peace.

Even a strong soldier would get tired of constant conflict after ten years, let alone hundreds of years fighting alone.

They should have let hackafune roll with the original concept of turning X bitter and evil

Zero with his true strength can 1 shot X during their fight in X5, so it really doesn't matter in the end.

Zero isn't as adaptable or modular as X.

There's not one game where X doesn't become OP as fuck compared to Zero toward the end.

That's the whole point, Zero's difficulty curve is generally consistent whereas X starts steep and becomes easier by late game. (Assuming you upgrade everything you can)

X is for completionists, Zero is for minimalists.

It truly is a great game design when it's done correctly.

The original Zero is corrupted (supposedly) and Copy X is corrupted... and as far as I know Copy X is the only X around at the time.
