Total Annihilation is like 2 bucks on Steam right now. Best RTS ever in my opinion.

Cossacks has fun single player campaigns alright.

Warhammer Total War is playable sex. Been developing a much more interesting campaign in the 3 hours I've spent on it than any campaign from hundreds of hours of Rome and Medieval II.

World in Conflict has a great campaign

Dark Reign

Battle for middle earth is fun, but slow-mo clunky battles make me snore.

Comnand and Conquer up to and including Red Alert 3 all had good campaigns. Nothing after that though...

Original War is pretty cool, time travel kinda stuff. it's kinda old. it's 99 cents right now.

SupCom and SupCom FA are quite comfy, basically you can sit back, spam high tier units before complete the objectives.

Homeworld, World in Conflict and Original War for story.
Cossacks and expansions for challenge.
C&Cs for mindless fun.

Heroes of annihilated empires is fun, it combines RTS with RPG bits.

Spellforce 1 has an amazing campaign, i have over 100hrs and i am still going, definitely worth it on a sale.

Also the dawn of war games, 1 through soulstorm for the full fun 40k experience, 2 and chaos rising if you give a fuck about spess muhreens and retribution if you want to play a fun but samey campaign with all the other races

Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, basically a star wars reskin of age of empires, fun campaigns, air units, scenario editor and a whole campaign of Droids remove gungan. is cheap as shit too.

surprised this many people also know about/remember original war. really fun game.

I always try to mention OW whenever RTS threads pop up, hoping more people will pick it up.
